I Heart Summer Notecard

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I've got a funky looking very geometric summery notecard for you all to see. I'm calling it "I Heart Summer"=

*the peachy pink flat base card with a matching envelope are from Darice

*the 4 hearts' cut-out is the surrounding packing of the sheet remainder--yes! The geometric set-up and the remaining border colors of the heart shaped stickers with that paneling looking background just had me thinking --recycle/upcycle this someday, somehow!

*2 little planner stickers are layered over another sticker used as the sentiment. There are 2 more planner stickers in the lower middle bottom edge of the 4 heart cut-outs. Got to get more summery tropical elements on here!

*flamingo paper was 1 of 6 designs in a patterned paper pad discovered at Dollar Tree several years ago

*kraft paper in the background is for scanning purposes and is not part of the card.

24 June 2022 MTTCC #37 Theme is Christmas Carols

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I love singing and playing Christmas carols. I've also been a choir member of several churches through the years and singing cantatas as well as The Hallelujah Chorus were some special achievements. At 2 churches they owned handbells and it was a joy to be part of those groups. If you love caroling and singing holiday tunes then get excited because My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog's Theme #37 is Christmas Carols.

June 24, 2022 to July 7, 2022 is the competition time period. There are hundreds of songs to choose from. You can pick 3. Crafters can submit 3 new projects for each theme challenge. Christmas carols/song choices might be: Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Silver Bells, Little Drummer Boy, and so many more! A MTTCC blog link will be posted after my design team inspiration project. I chose to do "Away in a Manger" and "O Come All Ye Faithful".

Card #1= Away in a Manger no crib for a bed. The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head. The stars in the sky looked down from above....

Credits: white left-folded base card and golden harvest yellow music patterned cardstock are from Simple Stories card kit "Love Grows Here"; the angel print cardstock (music notes were added in) and the 3 stickers are from Echo Park's "Away in a Manger" collection; the teal glitter foam snowflakes started out as light blue (green marker applied to the top with a green glitter paint pen over that in order to get the teal color).

Yummy Cool and Colorful Birthday Cupcakes card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!! Shocker! This small flat card is not for a design team commitment! I wanted to mix together some current challenge themes to take advantage of their competition periods. And I even messed up on one that I had just received a notice about on Wednesday...at least I thought it was this Wednesday and not last week...crazy...

This fun card has mixed the elements for birthday, triangles, and bright summery colors.

Yummy, cool, and colorful birthday cupcakes card=

Design notes and credits: the lavender paper is backdrop to block the printer scanner light; the mauve/mulled pink flat card base has a matching envelope (Darice); patterned paper, jumbo dots, and stickers were bargain finds at Dollar Tree; the green and yellow cardstock scraps are from Crafter's Choice or Art Skills, another bargain buy at Dollar General; and the purple cardstock scrap is from Neenah bought at Wal-Mart. A yellow marker was added to most of the white areas and white sprinkle dots in on the pink frosted cupcakes because it looked better to get yellow incorporated onto the paper. This is definitely packing some colors!

Shades of Blue Scriptural Encouragement Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I was so happy to have some late night crafty fun about 9 hours and even more so to craft an extra that is not for a DT commitment. I've had 1 card started for several days and just need to get another crafting session in very soon to get that one done. Many more that I need to get started on as well.

This featured card is on a flat denim blue colored cardstock base that has a matching envelope (Darice) with 2 scrap pieces and a printed Scripture card. I didn't check to see if it was the same size as a business name card or as an ATC. It was received as a gifted extra over a year ago. Three aqua pearl gems and a washi tape version flower petals clustered together for the accents. All chosen for having shades of blue.

2022 June 17 MTTC #484 Theme of Fruit

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Don't you just love supporting local farmers' markets and/or going to their farms/orchards? Maybe you've got fruit trees, grape vines or raspberry brambles, etc. at your home? This is a sweet theme for My Time To Craft challenge blog for #484

#484 starts June 17th and ends June 30th.

inspiration project #1:

SWEET--the sweet life slimline card=

_________________________________________

A few design and vendor notes for SWEET=

a. Several pieces to make this card were from a kit I put together based on the recipe from The Great Stash Bash challenge blog. (green cardstock base, the market scene journaling card, the alphas, the red foil heart)

b. 2 decorative tapes from different vendors were layered under the lettering

c. the little sweet life text die-cut and the green delicious apple came from Simple Stories Card Kit "Love Grows Here"

d. the market scene journaling card is from Webster Pages; so is the button and twine (different collection)

e. slimline style sizing

********************************************************************

Inspiration project #2= Have a Sweet Summer thinking of you card

The summertime acetate outer frame with an insert panel section left intact are from an old frame and journaling panels set from KI Memories. There's a light pinkish/peach cardstock underneath and a smaller yellow paper panel that had the sentiment printed on it as a Google Doc. The wood die-cuts were bought at Dollar Tree. The pineapple came in that dynamite gold metallic glitter. The watermelon and orange slices were light wood. Marker colors were applied first and then glitter paint pens applied on top. The orange one got a bit thick and looks better in person, especially when you tip the card in different directions and catch the light. Have a sweet summer, crafty friends!!!

10 June 2022 MTTCC #36 Theme is Candles and or Lanterns DT cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! The last few years I've really enjoyed creating Christmas cards throughout the year! Getting them ready for mailing is a whole other ballgame!!! Does anyone else experience that?

This posting features candle or lantern-themed Christmas cards for My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog. I'm on the design team and these cards are also shown on MTTCC posting (link will be included below). Challenge #36 competition starts June 10 and goes to June 23, 2022. Make sure to check the challenges every 2 weeks for a new topic. We try to provide different wintery and festive themes to help you create a variety of holiday cards.

Card #1 was crafted to sort of look like the outer view of the front door of a house or cabin. With lanterns on each side and a greenery arrangement in the center. Both patterned cardstocks and ephemera are from the Cottage Christmas collection by Fancy Pants Designs (2018).

Card #1 Lighting Your Way Home For Christmas card=

Red ink was applied to all cardstock edges except for the light kraft flat card base (from The Paper Source website). The red metallic foil dazzles (MC) are from Paper Wishes website.

Card #2= Blessed Advent--Tis the Season To Rejoice Christmas card=

A few design and vendor notes: the light kraft flat card base with matching envelope are from The Paper Source website; the solid and patterned papers are scraps; the 2 die-cuts/ephemera are from Echo Park's Away in a Manger collection; the sheer ribbon was white and was altered with a green glitter paint pen; top background papers' edges were inked in blue

Didn't both cards turn out to be lovely? Festive without being too fussy.

ATCs made for May 2022 event commitments

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! It's really good for my mind and soul to venture into other paper-crafting and mixed media kinds of creativity! Case in point--the May 2022 events for a greeting card or ATC only club. "For The Love of Cards" is a Facebook group that merged out of a similar group that had closed a couple months ago. Two of the members wanted to continue the format with a new name and they desire to keep it a small group. About 14 members currently with a limit of 25 is the roster. The 2 administrators created 13 events for May and I signed up for three. Since items were for swapping, I couldn't reveal until recipients had received. 1 of the 3 was delayed somewhere for 2-3 weeks!!!! So that's why this is getting posted in early June.

The 3 events are: Alphabet--Letter A; Road Trip; and Pastels with all three of these being ATCs. With lots of DT and blog owner commitments, too, plus several family birthdays and Mother's Day, I've decided to just send the 1 required ATC to my swapees.

Group pic:

Event #8 is Alphabet Letter "A": I have this really old apple stamp so the upper half was pressed onto green ink and the bottom half onto red ink pad and then stamped onto the apple green paper. Because the green on green doesn't show well, I used an extra fine detail black pen to outline the stamp. Underneath, an acorn stamp was applied with black ink onto the white cardstock which due to the size of the apple stamp and the requirement parameters of ATCS, there are just bits of acorns showing. I wrote the repeating sentences to give it that school flashcard look.

Event #2 for May 2022 is called "Road Trip"= I happened to have the perfect sticker and the black and white striped washi tape makes a good faux road. Writing in the classic kid travel question was a must! :)

Event #3 for May 2022 was Pastels; an old scrap of pastel looking frosting sprinkles was placed in the middle; the washi tape is part of "The Keepsake Kitchen Diary" collection by Lily and Val for Hampton Arts (2018); the alpha tiles are from Freckled Fawn; the wood pineapple was bare and I used a yellow marker on it however it is looking pretty intense when scanned.

That's it! All three are very different approaches to the 2.5" x 3.5" size restrictions yet they are good interpretations of the themes. It will be very interesting to see what creative twists and spins have been done by the crafters who have my name as their partner.

Challenge blogs and FB groups where these will be shared:

A. For The Love Of Cards group/club in FB; there are still spots available if you're interested; there are 2-3 card events/swaps each month and then about 8 or so ATC event/swaps, too.

2022 June 3 MTTC #483 Theme Bird/s WITH birdhouse or nest

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! What a delightful spring season theme to find crafty time making adorable birdie cards! My heart and soul got so excited anticipating this topic!

My Time To Craft challenge blog's #483 theme is Bird(s) WITH birdhouse or nest. Easy? Should be! While looking for a border option on another card, I noticed the very light pastel toned circle 'sheet' from Webster Pages that had the sentiment in the very center. Please use the cropped scanned closeup photo to see the "New Beginnings" bunting and nest image better.

My DT inspiration commitment project for MTTC:

New Beginnings Birdies card:

Some design notes:

a. the cardstock platform for the wood laser die-cut birdies was put on thick adhesive foam tape in order to wrap the cording and help elevate these birdies even more; it also helps this recycled packaging yellow cardstock contrast with the soft yellow cardstock background layer.

b. sage green flat cardstock base dimensions: 4.25" high x 5.5" wide

c. Webster Pages for the New Beginnings sticker

d. 2 partial pieces of border stickers (oldies from Current catalog); the floral piece was placed on top of a bright pink cardstock scrap

e. birdies/chicks were plain wood to start with; 1 colored with yellow marker and the other with a yellow-orange marker; then a yellow-green glitter paint pen was applied over both

MTTC DT inspiration project #2:

Tweet--the bird is out of its cage card!

A few design and vendor notes for card #2: the yellow cardstock flat base is about 6.5" x 7"; the teal chevron stripe over old newspaper text print paper is from The Paper Studio; the pink gingham is a full sheet that's about 6" square from Hot Off The Press available through Paper Wishes website; the teal and white paper masking tape is Scotch Brands; the bird cage journaling card is from Webster Pages; the alphas are from Freckled Fawn; and the assortment of clear stamps are from Bo Bunny's Flower Garden Stamp Set.
