Scrapbook Layout #4 for 2026 featuring Myself

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity, a personal crafting blog!

who: Hey there! I'm Becca S from north central Illinois! I've lived in 5 states (IL, IN, TN, TX & MO)!!! I've had the awesome travel opportunities to visit a small part of Canada around the north side of several great lakes and a year or so later to spend 10 days of Christmas school break in Haiti. Both of those were during my teen years! My USA travels from childhood to now have covered 20 additional states to those that I've lived in! (OH, MI, PA, NY, MD, VA, WV, KY, NC, GA, FL, AL, AR, AZ, CO, KS, NE, IA, MN, WI) --lots of road trips!!

when: layout and blog post started on Wed night April 15; finishing touches on Thurs Apr 16; photo was taken on March 18, 2026

why: As much card/tag/bookmark-making that I'm doing, I find the mental and creative need to do different 'things' and/or return back to formats that I've neglected for many months. My Creations in Pink design team #92 card for 15 April 2026

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!

why: This posting shares my 2nd design team project for Creations in Pink, a crafting challenge blog owned by Marlene A. The theme is anything goes mainly in pink. when: #92 starts April 15, 2026 and lasts to about May 12th.

what: Project #1 = "Together"

My Ally's Angels #105 design team card with anything goes theme for 15 April 2026

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!

why: This posting continues my long-term design team and owner commitment with Ally's Angels, a crafting challenge blog. The theme has always been 'anything goes'. I've been sole owner for over a year and was (silent) co-owner for a couple of years prior. Lots of crafters love to participate because it's the easiest type of theme. For a couple of years now the majority of my cards' focals involve stamping and/or inking. Occasionally I might do stenciling or pull elements from a collection to make an easy put-together card. This time I've used four clear stamps from the same set and have done a bit of colored pencil fill-in or outlining while the 2nd card is using a mix of recycled with more recent purchases like the ribbon, rhinestone hearts, and ephemera.

when: AA #105 starts April 15, 2026 and lasts until May 12, 2026.

Time for Tea Encouragement card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity, a personal crafting blog!

who: Hello! I'm Becca S, a 60+ year old artsy-craftsy former teacher. In some recent posts I've shared my early beginnings with music, practical home arts like cooking, baking and sewing, and even about attending YMCA winter Saturdays art workshops! In high school during my first three years I participated in melodrama/musicals. Freshman year I was one of several French Can-Can girls (not dad approved!), sophomore year I was cast as Gertie Cummins, complete with doing an obnoxious hee-haw kind of laugh and then junior year I was stage manager for Annie Get Your Gun. <3

where: this is not a design team project

when: April 14-15, 2026; created on the 14th; blog writing started also on the 14th

why: combining some challenges together: with pastels, tea cups, using my April scrapping kit,

what: Project = Time for tea? Tea for two?

how:

1. creamy yellow left-side folded card base (pack provides white envelopes) = Crafter's Square (2+ years ago; haven't seen them at area stores since then)

2. lavender pearls = Nicole Brand Crafts

3. tea cup = from a mix set of tea cup puffy stickers = Crafter's Square

4. lavender CS panel cut to 3.5" x 5" = Colorbok pastel cardstock pad

5. journal mini card = from a set; maybe Webster's Pages...been in stash for many years; I fussy cut around the scallop designs to get rid of the margin space on the card; I also used the dark purple colored pencil to fill in areas on the tea cup found on the right corner of this mini card; also the big open flower has the dark purple and some reddish-purple to change the very light pink original color

6. purple linen fabric ribbon = Crafter's Square (1 spool)

7. dark purple & reddish-purple colored pencils = Marvy Uchida; stash box

LINK-UPs

My April 2026 Stash Bash Kit for layouts and cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity, a personal crafting blog!

who: I'm Becca S, a 60+ year old craftsy-artsy former teacher who fell in love with paper crafting and blogging/message boards back in 2009-2010. About 15-20 years before that, I started sketching my own holiday images to give to some family and friends. Through the years, while teaching, I would try to mail or personally hand  each student at least 1 postcard during the semester or year. At one school district, there were 6 new to the JH & HS starting at the same time. So for the four years I was there, I would place holiday cards or cheer-up mid-quarter or quarter postcards in their mailboxes to build rapport and team/community.

when: my kit and first card were pulled together on Friday April 10 and the kit-focused post will be released on Saturday, April 11th. nope: Sunday April 12 @ approx 12:10 am

why: It's getting close to mid-month and I hadn't put a kit together. A kit helps for quicker making of layouts and cards; that is after the initial planning and pulling of items from different stash boxes. I'm hoping to do two- 1 page notebook size scrapbook layouts and maybe a few cards using this kit between April 10-30th.

what: My Stash Bash Kit for April 2026; lots of light-mid-tone blues, lavenders, pinks, greens

My Mondrian Mondays Journal Page #34 on 6 April 2026

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity, a personal crafting theme blog!

who: I'm Becca S, who is a 60+ year artsy-craftsy mish-mesh style of maker most of the time. Sometimes I restrain my impulses to do 'more is more'!!! Ha-ha! It is so hard for me to Clean and Simple style! For this next Mondrian-influenced geometric design, I had a difficult time deciding what to do. How much of his compositions do I try to bring in? And how do I go about it? My last entry that I loved, had my brain cells urging me to do something very similar. But I did resist. Read on for more insights....

where: This is a non- design team related project so there is not a specific 'where' that this journal page design is tied. If you go back in my previous posts, maybe 3 or 4 entries ago, I did share a few cropped pics of Mondrian's geometric paintings and several of mine scattered during the past year.

when: Monday, April 6, 2026

why: In late August, it will be 2 years since my mom passed. My husband and I had been her caregivers/helpers for 5-6 years before she died up until her last 3 months when she needed skilled nursing care. Her needs changed over time as different falling injuries intensified her needs and started altering how often she needed assistance. I didn't realize until about her last 8 months that I developed caregivers fatigue. My crafting and blogging were my stress relievers but even that precious time was being affected. So I decided to pick a day of the week to alliterate and have a creative muse. Mondrian Mondays grew out of a mental need to do something different.

what: My Mondrian Mondays #34

how
: using black straight lines and white spaces with the design for Mondrian's takeaways; the color palette, circles and dots were my tweaks.

1. an index card and decorative cardboard spool were my tracing templates

2. the colored pencils (8) = Marvy Uchida

3. a fine tip & extra fine tip black markers = Sharpies

4. journaling notebook with 80 peach tone graph paper sheets = bought at Dollar General

5. mechanical pencil was used first to create the grid layout

6, note: I did messed up on my rotation of the colors and even wanting to reverse the direction go from left to right and then right to left. So the color placements ended up being unpredictable...which I guess is a good thing.

LINK-UPs:

a. Kleuren met Potloden; still open until ; theme is usage of colored pencils; all my applied colors for the design spaces is with colored pencils; markers were applied to my pencil-traced lines and curves.

link = https://kleurenmetpotloden.blogspot.com/2026/03/challenge-maart-alles-mag.html

My honorary granddaughter's #4 birthday card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity! a personal crafting-focused blog

who: I'm Becca S, a 60+ year old who loves to do lots of creative expressions through fine arts and practical arts. I love flower arranging and interior decorating. I enjoy sewing and some textile crafting such as felt and burlap banners. During my school years, I did many years of band, choir and 3 high school musicals. I also took Art I in high school plus during Junior High and early High School years, my sister and I did some winter art workshops on Saturdays (2x) at the county YMCA. Piano lessons for 9 years were also completed! I also was a 4 year member for Future Homemakers of America (now it's FCCLA) and a 3 year member of the yearbook staff. Then in college I was part of the yearbook staff for 3 years and serving as a section editor for 2.

where: this is non-design team related so it is not for a commitment to a challenge blog

when: her birthday party is on Saturday April 4th. I'll be blogging this on either April 4th or 5th.

why: this birthday card is for our honorary granddaughter who we have been very blessed to be caregivers for most of her life! We did our first babysitting for her when she was only a couple of days old! Then at about 5-6 weeks until she was 6 months old, her mom changed several jobs and times per day/week. We did our best to accommodate. So up until this past July, we were seeing her regularly every week day for at least 4 hours and sometimes for a few more hours during the weekends. Since July we often see our sweetie several evenings per week for golf cart rides or to take her to a park! Once every 6-8 weeks, we try to do a weekend sleepover!

what: 4th birthday card for a little girl who currently says green is her favorite color, but two months ago it was pink....who also loves the book and other ones in the series + YouTube videos "Llama, Llama, Red Pajamas".....
