TCCC blog no 226 design team creation combines the 2 themes

How do you combine a challenge theme of fairies/mythical creatures with object from around the house?

My solution actually was a repurposed printer alignment info sheet that 'accidentally' got printed on white cardstock. The thought of throwing away a full sheet of cardstock made me nauseous! :) So I held onto it for a few days (several months ago). Then I got to thinking about using the part of the page with the blue and black markings like a designer patterned paper. And viola! I found a beautiful butterfly clip art image that I had sized and copied to 9 times to fill the page and printed the butterflies over the alignment markings!!!

Thanks to TCCC's prize sponsor for the adorable tooth fairy Charlee image=

Prize: $10.00 of images (no digital papers)

More scanned views of this cute card:

Did you notice the blue jeweled gems? the little black pennant banner? the white paint pen swirled lines in the wings or the white painted tooth? What about the touches of gold? (antennaes, dots on edge of skirt, ring for carrying the tooth, and the star wand)

The "Charlee" tooth fairy image was colored with a combination of white paint pen, gold paint pen, extra fine point marker pens in navy blue and purple, and colored pencils in light brown for skin, pink for cheeks, yellow for hair, and sky blue for skirt overlay.

Lots of wings with this card, too! With the 'household object' butterfly, the butterfly patterned paper, and the Scribbles Design image, they combine into a charming thinking of you card!

and this card will be linked up to:

Wedding Anniversary Card for brother is APTS blog DT project August 2019

August's theme for APTS blog is "A Crafty Piece of Me", which means using the technique of paper piecing. Not piercing, but piecing...put some pieces together that you have cut out. Example will be tracing and cutting out a floral print paper shape like a t-shirt to put over a t-shirt part of a digital image.

For my creation, I've stenciled half hearts of 2 different sizes from several different patterned papers and then I inked all edges, matched up 'opposites' and then put a tiny tape piece on the back of each new pair. Glue adhesive tabs were then used to stick to the white or mid-blue cardstock of the card background or base. Additional heart stickers and 3 different color pearl dots in either 3s or 5s were scattered around. The center sentiment image was found online in search for free black and white 25th anniversary images. Here is how I managed to get everything arranged:

A Place to Start (APTS) blog's ID badge ( 1of 2 ) that they have is shown above.

August theme was mentioned at the top. Give it try if you haven't yet. It is always a very good artistic creativity challenge to experiment with new techniques and/or new ways of achieving effects.

It would have been faster to trace and cut-out 6 hearts instead of 12 halves from 4 papers, yet the effect of mix-n-match coordinating prints is striking.

It is also symbolic of 2 people united in marriage to become 1 couple.

Other blogs and/or Facebook groups to share this card=

*It is almost 10:30 pm on Monday night and I just returned home about 20 minutes ago from an area hospital where my husband had a procedure today and my mom's been in a different area since Saturday afternoon after her fall. Due to the craziness, I'm not taking time to link to any challenge blogs because I didn't do any research in my draft before all the craziness and stress of family matters erupted...sorry...however here are a few Facebook groups, I will share a link or photo with=
a. Paper, Paper, Paper, & Design Team Calls
b. Mixed Media Creativity
c. 100 Patterned Papers

Because of the business envelope narrow vertical length of the card, I only did 2 additional scans for the top part and then a full sheet scan that was cropped: [dimensions are: 9" tall x 4" wide]

Love in creative form! This is for my 'baby' brother and his terrific wife who honored me with being one of her bridesmaids. 1.5 years later I returned and doubled the honors with having both in our wedding party.

The Power of Cornflowers for 2 Occasions with TCCC no 224 design team projects

Using this sweet summery digital image of cornflowers in a mason jar (SheepSki Designs) was a delight for get well wishes on a horizontal format and a belated birthday card on a vertical format!

One image for 2 occasions=

get well wishes for an elderly couple (in their 90s) who both took a tumble recently and received minor injuries

and

belated birthday wishes for an uncle; 5 days late; oops!--this aunt and her husband, uncle by marriage, have beautiful perennials at their home, several birdfeeders by their family room window, have 2 awesome barn quilts painted by their grandson on display on their nearby barn; I thought a nature theme card would be good for his 82nd birthday.
