CTD #473 for December 18 of 2017

You want a challenge? A mega CHALLENGE? Then what about a THROWDOWN?

A Throwdown about color! CTD #473 is happening now!

http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/2017/12/color-throwdown-countdown-473.html

There is wonderful inspiration creations by the design team, so check it out if you have time before the December 18, 2017 deadline.

This is what I created for the challenge:

Main products:

Did you notice what I did to the patterned papers to add the "kraft"/beige color? I meticulously used a brown colored pencil to lightly apply a kraft beige color element to the selections. Does it work? Could you tell?

I love the results!!!! Just a hint of Christmas with the gingerbread foam stick-on for the front and the stamped Joy to the World sentiment on the inside.

Advent ATCs Days 14 and 15

ATCs. "O Christmas Tree" is theme for Day 14 and "You are snow special" is theme for Day 15.

Traditionally artist trading cards (ATCs) are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" but Day 14's is oversized. To get 2 partial trees and a central full tree formed by stencil I needed a little more space.

Day 15's image is a freebie to me because I won a random drawing for the Bugaboo's Catch the Bug's Holiday Chaos challenge last week. I was the daily freebie winner for Thursday, which was fantastic for submitting only on Wednesday and Thursday. Yea, me!!!

Day 14:
Supplies and vendors=
*lavender cardstock by Colorbok
*2 striped papers by The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby
*Christmas/pine tree stencil from an old Tupperware stencil set
*iridescent gems
*deco tape by Jot
*ruler, pencil, scissors, magenta marker, green marker, brown marker, green and brown colored pencils, glue stick

Technique tip:
*Even with the decorative tape being a micro, I still cut it in half to match the proportion of the tree better to have it zig-zagging its way down the tree.

Day 15:
Supplies and vendors=
*teal blue cardstock by Colorbok
*blue paper with white wind swirls by The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby
*You are snow special digital image was a free download won through Bugaboo Stamps/CTB challenge blog
*navy blue marker and other markers to color the image
*ruler, pencil, scissors, glue stick

Technique tip:
*The image was trimmed at some odd angles but I angled the placement some due to the narrow background ATC compared to the image. I could have oversized the base layer but decided to keep it interesting with the twisted pic.
*The snowman's scarf is actually light pink and dark purple but the light pink is photographing like coral or peach.

My next HIMCR design team inspiration card will be revealed on Saturday around noon time on the HIMCR blog. I will make my detailed post either later in the day or sometime on Sunday evening. And keep checking back to see if I'm keeping up with the ATCs in December.

Advent ATC 13

December is Advent season and for day 13 it is "Joy to the World"

Music staff print paper
Joy to the World rubber stamp
teals and browns
micro thin decorative tape with same teal color

The stamp was a gift received 2 days ago from an awesome and very thoughtful crafter/blogger. She also sent me one of her hand-crafted Christmas cards with a personal note written inside.

This rubber stamp is from Unity Stamps. Doesn't it look like it is on an ornament?

The teal music print paper is from The Paper Studio by Hobby Lobby. The 2 different brown papers are from Colorbok. Deco tape is by Jot. The number stickers were part of a scrapbooking kit purchased sometime in the past 6 years. Black dye ink pad is part of the Studio G line by Hampton Arts.

Constructing this ATC I tweaked the "rules" by enlarging the overall dimension. The top cinnamon brown paper layer is the correct size for an ATC of 2.5" x 3.5". But due to the size of the stamp, I felt like I needed to lengthen and widen a bit more with another bigger base layer. So there is the chocolate brown cardstock bottom layer.

The diamond was quickly made with a stencil from the Folk Art Decorative Icons set by Plaid. Ruler, pencil, and black marker completed this quick to make ATC.

Keep checking back as I make more with different themes to celebrate this Advent.
