MTTC challenge blog technique theme of inch cuts starts 14 May 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart has been flip-flopping between excitement and anxiety!!!! The technique of 'inchies' is great for those who love precision and math! And for those of us who don't, get pushed out of our comfort zones. [MTTC]

Overall I'm very pleased with the results, a happy heart for me!!! I used all kinds of measurements when cutting my cardstocks and penciling and cutting for the multi-stenciled image focal however I still have some wonky pieces and lines!!!

Do I blame it on left-handedness or tri-focals????? Or late night???? The image focal--even before measuring and cutting into 1" pieces--took time to let the acrylic paints dry between use of stencils and colors...and outlining.

Let's take a look:

*make sure to visit and see how the other design team members used the technique...quite a variety...which pleasantly surprised me! It's great to see the creativity and applications that others use for the same challenge topic

Notes:
a. recycled kraft cardstock used for image focal base
b. hearts stencil first used with pink acrylic paint
c. then purple acrylic paint applied to some areas
d. switched stencils to one from a Bible journaling set and used leaf green acrylic paint
e. used a black calligraphy marker tip to make little black dots/flecks scattered around
f. used the same marker to outline the lettering
g. then did the measuring of a grid to get the inch cuts
h. cut a bright blue cardstock with 1.25" wider in order to get 1/4" for margins/aisles
i. after applying small adhesive tape strips to the back of each inch cut, I decided I still wanted some boldness and added the dividing lines
j. My Mind's Eye is the manufacturer line for the gorgeous cardstock peeking around the inchies focal, which is lifted off that surface with lots of little foam squares
