Here's my happy spring girl:

Always Happy Birthday challenge month 4 (April) is anything goes theme with an option of balloons. I've not included balloons but the image has a banner and butterfly so if they had a "b" item theme I would have been all set. But the girl is holding a heart and has the sentiment of happy plus the cupcake felt stick-on for some little birthday celebration touches. Here's the AHB badge and link:

and the sketch layout was  my interpretation of this design suggestion by Kelly Holifield for Paper Secrets and shared at Facebook's 100 Pattern Papers Challenge group:

Supplies:

a. marble green tone cardstock and creamy yellow cardstock=Colorbok

b. succulents, chevron on newsprint, paisley, mint green stripe designer papers=The Paper Studio

c. pink with white pots designer paper=Colorbok

d. embellishments=cupcake felt stick-on (Dollar General); glitter butterflies (part of an Easter set of stickers at Wal-Mart); flowers are old stash and don't remember where they were bought

e. digital image was colored mostly with colored pencils; black gel pen for banner string; turquoise marker used for dots in center of flower and for "happy"

f. adhesives: combination of glue stick and glue dots

As I crafted this DT inspiration card with such wonderful spring colors, we had had snow during the night! Yes, April 8-9, 2018 has been crazy weather for Illinois. Normally rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes are more common. Traditional spring with warmer temps and time to be outdoors are thoughts swirling in my head and maybe someday I will actually be able to experience more consecutive hours and days enjoying sunshine. Keep fingers crossed! :)

HIMCR 347 spring colors theme for April 7

Rainbow sherbet explosion!!! A spring color theme challenge for week 1 of April!

Isn't this a festive and vibrant mix of colors and patterns for April 7-13, 2018!?!?!!!

The inside section of the card was kept simple with another section of the rainbow circles print paper (Grafix) stamped with the message to "celebrate".

My card's layout is my interpretation of this sketch from Page Maps that was shared with the Facebook group 100 Pattern Papers Challenge:

Markers were used on most of the Henry image; peach crayon was used for his skin tone

The pennants/flag/ribbon tails sections almost look like party hats sitting in front of a crown but still part of the HB (happy birthday) theme. This card is super full of whimsy and charm. More crafting therapy to do! :) Any type of practical art or fine art is such a soul-lifter for me. I don't have children; nor pets; but we do have neighborhood domestic and wild rabbits that visit our yard especially these two--Charlene (two-tone brown) and Midnight. We've lived in our neighborhood for 3 months shy of 2 years and were told that the previous year to that someone who had 12 domestic rabbits released them to go free when they moved away. We are blessed to have these 2 as frequent visitors:

Notes:

a. the sketch image shown above was shared in the Facebook group "100 Pattern Papers"

b. I altered the card in width; used stenciled crowns in place of the top rows of scallops; used flamingo pattern paper in place of the gray horizontal section with cording added; used graph grid index card with stenciled "hb" in place of black horizontal section and sentiment ribbon; used a stenciled birthday cake instead of the flower and with the size dropped below I opted to not use any of the ribbon tail sections on the bottom third

c. pink with white dots pattern paper is from Colorbok

d. flamingo pattern and light peach striped pattern designer papers are from The Paper Studio

e. different values of pink and peach/orange were used to help meet the required color combo for CTD 486

f. overall I like the quirky fresh light feel of this birthday card! winner winner flamingo dinner! Ha-ha!!
