Anything Goes theme no 237 for TCCC blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm Becca S who loves crafting for the artistry aspects and also the joy and de-stressing it allows me. If a week goes by without a little bit of creativity, I get a bit cranky!

The first of the month NEW challenge #237 for The Crafter's Café Challenge blog has an anything goes theme. So come on and get involved in your makerspace!!! Here's my adorable "pre-spring" card=

The mint/sage green is the card base. The tile-looking patterned paper is an oldie and I've just about used it all during the past year. The chevron stripe is a product of The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby. The mint green, soft yellow, and mid-gray cardstocks are all Astrobrights line by Neenah.

The prize sponsors for TCCC's #237 challenge are Scribbles Design (I'm using their flowerpot digi) and Dr. Digi's.

And a cropped scan view=

Then some cell phone camera pics taken close-up to capture the sparkly glitter paint pens used to color the sweet digi=

Don't you think all the glitter makes the card extra special???!!!! It just looks so fabulous from different angles! I had to be very careful (especially being left-handed) to make sure I didn't smear any glitter paint pens or metallic pens. Something else that helped this card and digi image have pizazz was the yellow cardstock. Instead of using white the yellow just adds a sunshine-y ray of springtime to this card.

This Thanksgiving my mom, husband and I have my siblings with their families coming home for the holiday. Part of the weekend will be celebrating our mother's recent 80th birthday with a special open house. Back in August she had a nasty fall and initially the doctors thought she had a broken hip. It gave us a good scare. After 4 1/2 days in the hospital and 2 weeks + 2 days in a nursing home for her recovery along with an additional 4 weeks of follow-up home visit therapist sessions, we are ready to show our friends and family how much we cherish our momma with an open house reception.

I'm not sure who within the fam will get this adorable card but couldn't help myself in taking a summer vacation digital image and making it into a holiday travels card.

Thanks Dr. Digi's!!!! [Summer Holiday]

And for those of you reading this outside of the USA heartland, my area of Illinois had snow this morning (10/30/19) and there is more expected overnight!!!!! YUCK!!!!

So stay safe and warm, folks!!

Masculine birthday card with contrasts for PPCC no 433 design team project

As adults I find that celebrating birthdays is usually a balance between daily living obligations vs relaxing and taking it easy. So this card shows that struggle--forceful words on the cover folds but either whining complaints or wishes or accomplishments on the inside panels.

Dr. Digi's Dunderton Rugby Club image of "Derek" is the star of this card:

PPCC blog #433 is another weekly challenge with Anything Goes (with paper-crafting) theme starting June 5, 2019. There are 2 prize sponsors & contributors of images for the design team to highlight: Time For Tea Designs and Dr. Digi's House of Stamps. I'm working with one of Dr. Digi's series featuring Derek.

PPCC post link for recent winner & top 3 since #433 hasn't been posted as of 2:20pm Wed. 6/5/19=

**I'll edit in the link for #433 as soon as it is available. https://pennyschallenges.blogspot.com/2019/06/welcome-to-pennys-challenge-433.html

more scanned pics from start to finish:

Dimensions: 7" high and then each section is 3.5" wide or 10.5" wide total

"Do I have to adult today?"  "I need a nap!"  "Busy, busy, busy."

"I love naps."  "Can I get a day off?"  "Gettin' stuff done!" And in the top right corner of the center panel: "Nope, not today!"

Before the day was over, I had edited--changing the birthday related stick-on and adding a tiny planner sticker to Derek's left ("I need a time out").

PPCC blog 373 anything goes theme using a Sketchy Saturday layout

Celebrate...Let's Party!

Office Retirement card using Dr. Digi's "Photocopy Phoebe" (Isn't she phabulous?!!??!)

My image and rest of the design team members' images are using Dr. Digi's (#373 prize sponsor)

Di's Digi Stamps is a 2nd prize sponsor for #373.

PPCCB or PPCC blog is usually how I shorten the blog name. The blog also can be found as Penny's Challenge. Above is their badge. Below is their link for the new post giving you all the details on how to participate:

getting started: I've got the black and white digital image colored with a mix of markers and colored pencils.
I was "inspired by" Laurel's Sketchy Saturday March 24, 2018 layout suggestion so I just stretched to the card design to fit a horizontal orientation instead of vertical. The image of "Photocopy Phoebe" with the extra stamped sentiment of "Celebrate" became one element instead of two (circle shape replaced with fabulous Phoebe).

Her link: https://laurelseabrookdesigns.blogspot.ca/2018/03/sketchy-saturday-with-fancy-pants.html

Other notes:
a. base card is a dark violet cardstock
b. the 3 designer patterned papers are from the Bright Photo Mats stack from Colorbok
c. the patterned papers have helped with my main color palette of yellow-green/chartreuse, violet, and navy blue
d. the accent colors are gray, olive green, light blue, and magenta pink
e. the inside edges have been inked with several layers of colors (blue, violet, and black) but when photographing it is just looking blackened
f. stars are outlined with a fine tip gel black pen but it's hard to see that detail in the photos
g. confession: the glass in Phoebe's hand (if you decide to purchase the image) will appear differently in the sponsor's website and will have several splash droplets above the glass; I wanted to simplify that area plus I don't drink liquor or alcohol so I just made the glass dark purple.

In person, the colors and details show better...trust me! This is definitely a celebratory fun card!

Until next posting, Becca
