Great Stash Bash April 2020 kit finally made with sneak peek of 2 projects

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!! My heart's been desiring to spend some time scrapping layouts but it's been tough returning to the classroom this year and then having all the remote learning changes thrown into the mix as well! My online commitments were low in numbers today so I got some time in mid-to-late afternoon to make 2 small cards with a completed work kit assembled late last night. The assembled kit follows the formula suggested by Lisa H and Lori S for The Great Stash Bash's April 2020 challenge.

First group of photos will be different parts of the kit:

Above: some of the old and new= the 2 oldest are the large green floral scrap and the bit of contemporary geometric cardstock; the green and white chevron from The Paper Studio is also old, about 2.5 years in my stash
New: scraps of gray and cream cardstocks; and the peek of the orange and green flat cards/envelopes (by Darice that were a Christmas gift from my BFF).

Above: the 2 patterned cardstocks are sides A; scroll down 3 photos for their reverse patterns; and these are NEW from Webster Pages.

Above: New items: silver dazzle stickers, yellow resin frame, and the orange and green flat cards w/ matching envelopes; and Old items: everything else!, embellishments like die-cut accents, floral stickers, border stickers, digital images the 3 journal cards near the yellow frame, and a bit of the floral patterned scraps near the top :)

Top: the beige and white looking buffalo check is a thin TN book that was part of a Webster Pages clearance bundle that just arrived. So that along with the friends phrase stickers laying on top and the snapshots of my BFF and I are part of my new items. The oldest item in the above photo is the set of border stickers sheet that's peeking out below the floral stickers.

Below: the 2 full sheets of patterned cardstock are new arrivals from Webster Pages. They are the reverse sides to the prints shown up 3 photos.

Summary count: Well, I really didn't track the count! There are some small scraps that got cropped  due to trying to crop out my dining chair's cushion! And all of those are old. Only 2 newer papers but with having reverse side prints, it's like having 4 sheets! Embellishments: cording, the floral stickers, etc. for old; the newest is that yellow resin frame; and the stash item of washi tape was forgotten but I've got loads and I'll try to feature some when I get the TN's first layout made. Color inspiration for my kit following TGSB's prompt comes from the spectrum palette from CKC blog's kit shown further in the post.

2nd part is the TGSB April 2020 prompt badge and the blog page badge:

3rd part is to show that some of this assembled kit is some of the leftovers of my CKC blog mini kit:

The color spectrum is the key color palette from the inspiration kit CKC has posted for April 2020. That's what I tried to focus both my kits with.  Below are 2 snapshots of the kit I assembled for my copy-cat version. The 2nd pic has 2 photos that I've already used and some of the die-cut accents shown to the left of the pics have already been too!

Two of the florals shown on the left main papers are being carried over into TGSB along with most of those small scraps.

4th part is a teaser sneak peek of the 2 small cards. I'll make a follow-up post with 2 along with TGSB kit in 2-3 days from now.

TCCC blog DT card 1 for 15 October 2019

CARD 1 using Decosse's Trick or Treat Washi Tapes Set for my design team inspiration project for The Crafter's Café Challenge blog #229=

above is my personalized DT badge for TCCC blog
#229 themes are= using a stencil &/OR Halloween OR purple, orange, & black

above is DDD's sponsorship badge
below is her preview image of the set

**Thanks to Lisa Decosse for approving my idea of using the whole set of washi tapes to create  patterned papers!!! The layouts aren't perfect if you look too closely to the angles of many of the cuts made to the ends. I printed out each washi tape design at the wallet size setting, so even though that's the smallest size option with my printer, I still had to cut some of the designs in half (width or depth-wise) and most in some length variation. This one set of washi tapes provided enough to create the diagonal patterning on the 4.25" x 6.25" black paper x 2.

The darkest purple CS for the card base's dimensions are 5" x 7". Glitter paper and orange paper have sizes in between the base and the black background.

**Other supplies used besides the digital washi tape designs print-outs and papers are: different colored gem dots, square gold gem strips, old alpha stickers, gold metallic paint pen, and a wood pumpkin & leaf die-cuts along with glue stick and glue dots. --And don't adjust your screen!!! I deliberately skewed the black and orange layers to add to the craziness (besides our funky weather!).

________
other challenge blogs or Facebook groups where this card or posting will be linked=
a. Little Red Wagon #518= theme is "cut-it-out"; I had to do lots of fussy cutting! Each washi tape design was printed in the center of the sheet, so each one had to be cut out and then almost all of them were either cut in half depth-wise and/or cut to be shortened.
link= https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/2019/10/challenge-518-cut-it-out.html

b. Use Your Stuff #378 = theme is "use a pumpkin(s)"; on my project I've got the wooden one
link= http://useyourstuff.blogspot.com/2019/10/challenge-378-pumpkins-majo.html

c. a new challenge blog for me-- Incy Wincy Designs challenge blog: October 7-19, 2019= Fall Colors theme; on my card I've used purple, orange, lime green, and black with some yellow
link= https://incywincydesigns.blogspot.com/2019/10/oct-7th-19th-autumn-fall-colours.html

d. Scrapping 4 Fun Challenges blog #151= theme is anything goes with warm colours; my card has orange and some yellow which are warm colors

f. Mixed Media Creativity group on Facebook; sharing site for mixed media projects; my card uses cardstock, glitter paper, solid papers in black and orange, wood die-cuts, gem dots, and digital images that were printed on paper; and also gold metallic paint pen

g. PPPDTC group on Facebook; a sharing site for crafting bloggers

I'm not crazy about Halloween, at least the scary gory devilish aspects, but the color palette of this card is such a bright contrast to other traditional autumn palettes that I just happen to love how this turned out.

Stick around and make sure to look at the other card made with the same DDD Trick or Treat Washi Tapes set that is featured in its own blog post....

TCCC blog post no 228 with theme prompts of pink and or tag

Check out The Crafter's Café Challenge blog #228 reveal for 1 October 2019!!! Use pink and/or tag(s) are the theme prompts for #228.

The prize sponsor is My Besties and they offered a nurse digi image as one of the choice options for the DT crew. I leaped quickly on requesting the nurse image since my mom is a retired RN and October is her birthday month! WIN-WIN!!  However blue is her favorite color so that's why I've chosen to not go 100% pink. I've got a pink, raspberry, blue and turquoise blue for the tags and I've tried to use those for coloring the digital image, too. Here's my mom's birthday card:

Thinking of You during hot summer with Be Cool at the Beach card MTTC no 400 DT project

Another print-rich colorful card using some small paper pads and partial sets of cardstock and 12 inch square scrapbook size papers that are for my personal goal to use during the second half of June!

Be Cool at the Beach

MTTC link for their blog post to read all the details and see what the other designers did (very diverse!!!)=  http://mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/06/challenge-400-oh-i-do-like-to-be-beside.html

#400 "Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside" theme...so anything beachy...fish, mermaids, shells,

I decided to try to combine one of my favorite ways to beat the heat, ice cream, with the seaside theme. The triple scoop cone images are freebies from Scribbles Designs!

And then I found the weirdest yet perfect for me coloring book page free printable during an online search!

I had the 5" x 7" turquoise blue paper in the partial set of cardstock (see photos below), the rainbow type diagonal stripe print paper, the rainbow dot print paper and the flamingo print paper from my mid-June stash to bash.

The only new paper is the kraft paper (4.5" x 6.5"). Even the mid-blue stickers for "Be Cool" are old stock.

This card is very busy but I tried to repeat lots of the same colors from the cones (lifted up by small foam squares) into the coloring book scene.

****
a & b = Facebook groups 100 Pattern Papers Challenge (the premise is to use 100 print/designer papers from your stockpile in 1 year's time) and Bash Your Scrapbook Stash (the current June main challenge is to pick a paper pad to bash or wipe out during the month). So these 2 larger size papers in partial sets and the 2 small size paper pads that had some sheets already used were added to my 2019 papers to use:

Above: the turquoise blue was used for the card base
Below: these partial set of papers weren't used

Below: from the 6" square paper pad: the flamingo paper was used (triangle corner section)
from the 5" x 7" paper pad: the rainbow dot (approx. 3.5" x 4.5") and the stripe (triangle corner section) papers were used

A few more scanned pics of this card:

c. Facebook group= Scribbles Designs Digital Images...great images to buy and also have freebies available...the large triple scoop cones were a freebie...Thanks, Scribbles!!!
https://www.facebook.com/ScribblesDesignsDigitalImages/
and a shout-out to the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog (SDCB) however their current theme is square card and mine is rectangle; so I'll just share in the Facebook group SDDI

d. Facebook group= Paper, Paper, Paper & DT Calls= wonderful sharing site for bloggers

d. Challenge blog= A Inky Mess with a Mixed Media theme for its current challenge
link: https://ainkymess.blogspot.com/2019/06/challenge-32.html
different elements are:
1. markers
2. colored pencils
3. digital stamp image (ice cream cones with triple scoops)
4. coloring book page printable
5. cardstock
6. kraft paper
7. 3 patterned papers
8. alpha stickers

e. Challenge blog = Use Your Stuff with a stickers theme for its current challenge
link: http://useyourstuff.blogspot.com/2019/06/challenge-364-stickers.html
the stickers used for this card are the alphas "BE COOL"

The picture below was taken first with the upper right corner ice cream cone was angled off the top of the card. I changed it to follow the side of the card however by doing that it blocked off some of the rainbow stripes from being seen...humph....

Life Is An Adventure mini kits scrambled to make 5 May 2019 NSD joint challenge with CKC blog and BYSS group

Did you know Friday was National Scrapbooking Day? And that May is National Scrapbooking Month?

well, now you know! Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and Bash Your Scrapbook Stash group had a cross-over kind of joint challenge this weekend. I only got in on the tail end of things today and missed the 5 pm deadline CST. So I posted pics in CKC's Facebook group and on my profile. Now it's time to blog about the scrambled kit and the layout.

The finished 8.5" x 11" layout using 8 patterned papers, 4 solid color papers, and 8 different embellishment types (and there are even multiples of several of these). The provided sketch design was altered especially for the bottom third but I think you can still see lots of referenced elements:

Above: CKC blog ID badge
Link for May 2019 kit reveal: https://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/05/may-2019-counterfeit-kit-challenge-kit.html

For the cross-over challenge details there are found in the BYSS's closed group announcements on Facebook. There are 3 questions that have to be answered before your request to join can be processed. Many of the group members are also CKC followers and/or 100 Pattern Paper Challenges group participants (another Facebook group).

I just read on the CKC's May 4th post that Master Forger Susan created this sketch design! Thanks Susan. Sorry I didn't follow the bottom third more specifically. I was challenged by picking the blue with flower bouquets cardstock for the base paper.

If I get a chance this month, I'll try doing a closer reflection of your sketch on another layout.

I didn't follow the different (than CKC's May 1st kit reveal) selected inspiration kit for this BYSS cross-over kit and sketch (Studio Calico kit seen in the May 4th post); instead I pulled papers from my mini kits I put together 2 nights ago and added in a few scraps and more embellishments:

Here are the mini kits again:

scrap piece of the solid yellow was used behind the photo of my husband and I's joined hands

the reverse side of the solid leaf green was used (last paper under the photo); the lighter plain blue (under a glitter heart);

the blue with white dots and flower bouquets was used as the base cardstock

the border/manufacturer strip for the muted red and cream lattice patterned cardstock was used in the journaling section

the peacock patterned paper was going to be added into this mini kit but then I edited out; however I needed another patterned paper and wanted something with blues and greens so I added it in for this 'scrambled' kit

other patterned papers are scraps from previous projects in the past 4 months or so

Challenge for the kit besides being based to mimic colors and prints of a Studio Calico kit was in the ratio and numbers:
a. 8 patterned papers
b. 4 solid color papers
c. 8 different embellishment types (I've got 9 types and at least 11 or more total embellishments):
*stickers of different phrases and a Bible verse
*glitter hearts
*gem dots
*journal/pocket card (hearts print under the photo)
*clear based planner stickers (2= "appt." and "the struggle is real")
*digi image (love)
*tag (actually a sticker but it's shaped like a tag)
*# (6 for our 6th date of 23 leading up to our 23rd wedding anniversary)
*decorative tapes (red micro-thin one that's at the bottom edge of the blue tag; and the navy blue and white grid washi tape strip that is to the left of the photo)

The color hues of the layout are washed out using my cell phone for this view of the layout:

The title states: "you are so loved"; under the photo in the journaling section there are 3 parts= love; "This is the day which the Lord has made!"; and "keep calm and fight on"

My husband was in the hospital but since I spent over 24 hours by his bedside, I counted this as date #6 leading up to our 23rd anniversary. Since he had 14-15 months of cardiac issues before this photo was taken in January, that's why I added stickers like "the struggle is real" and "keep calm and fight on". Date #6 was his 8th mild heart attack in those 14-15 months. And to top it off, last Friday night April 26, he had #9 in the past 18 months!!!! God has been so very good in keeping him here on earth. Two cardiologists believe they can open up and stent his left artery of heart and the back side one which are calcified between 90-100%. If these fail and he survives, he was already in the midst of testing prep for candidacy for heart transplant surgery at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, so he would finalize that as a back-up plan. Lots to pray about!

I'm glad I got to scrapbook another of our dates. Now to tackle a few more this week, hopefully!--Becca S

TN BUJO continues for 2019 Word of the Year and in my TN best friend

TN layout #3 and bonus layouts #4 and #5

My third layout for TN Time with Lisa and Lori will be for my Bullet Journal (BUJO) modified Travelers Notebook entry showcasing Titus 1: 2; ringed index notecard set

#1:
This 2-page spread qualifies for BOTH the prompt and the sketch part for the March 2019 challenges at TN Time with Lisa and Lori.  [left page= I turned sketch to its left and went more abstract on shapes with date for entry as subtitle and the Word of the Year--HOPE as title; right page= I switched the journaling/Bible verse due to tilting the sketch to the left.]

[2 uses of washi tape: left page= a sage green floral from MME that goes over where the 2 papers met; right page= a dark green dotted from MME that goes over where its 2 papers meet]

#2:
From March 2019 CKC blog kit that I made: the 2 washi tapes, the solid color papers, and the tonal green floral patterned paper

One of the posts issued from CKC blog to encourage kit makers to use their compiled stockpiles was this one=
Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog recent blue skies and butterflies challenge link:

#3:
and I will post a snapshot of the completed layouts to the Facebook closed group, Travelers Notebook Scrapbookers, that focuses not on the covers but the inside layout entries.

More pics of the Word of the Year entry of Titus 1:2

LAYOUT #4 is from my TN best friend documenter for March 2019 using TN Time with Lisa and Lori sketch and prompt challenges (L page tilts the pic and embellishments clustered under it and the space above it was used to display a mix of papers, stickers, washi tapes, and decorative tape. R page flip-flops the journaling section from left to right side.) CKC kit was everything except the friends chipboard stick-on and bright tropical flower stickers on each page.

The butterfly is a forgery I created for my March CKC kit which has color filled in (I used eye shadow makeup!)!!!!!

LAYOUT #5 for March 2019 is another BUJO/TN modified entry for Word of the Year featuring I Thessalonians 1:3 (for TN Time with Lisa and Lori= L page is a very loose interpretation because the floral patterned cardstock create chaos as I was trying to puzzle it out. Instead of starting over, I decided to almost fill the left border with butterflies and flowers along with a date sticker. R page has the journaling section/Bible verse like the sketch with a right side section shown by the roses washi tape that is over a music print decorative tape.)

CKC kit= all items except the foil butterfly stickers

These are part of a ringed notecard set, so they will not be seen side-by-side.
