July 2020 Week 1 Sketch Challenge for 52 CCT Blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is nervous about this card. In person, I love the color mix of this card, however some of the supplies are from my June 2020 scrapping kit and others are from my Christmas embellishments box. But more on those details later.

My June hostessing duties for 52 CCT blog are almost over. I've got to compile DT voting for the challenge ending 7/3/2020 and post the winners on Wednesday, July 8. So that means with July Week 1 sketch that it's now time for a new hostess, Fabiola. The sketch will be featured after my card photo.

Happy Christmas card for #25-20 =

Above: the rose washi tape can be seen near the pink flowers; the gem dots are just to the right of that and got cropped out of this pic
Below: Most of my papers were yellow/buttery cream, pink, light blue and light green but I wanted to have some neutrals to help ground all those other pastel hues; I included 2 sheets of the checkered paper in the kit but used a half sheet for the Christmas card featured up at the top of the post

Lots of different elements from different vendors that have made their way into my crafting supplies (stockpile might be the better term!) have come together to create this charming Christmas card! I like how the iridescent gems repeat the gray/silver hues whereas the green glitter gem dots repeat the green doily accent piece and from the Santa chipboard accent.

Friendship Thanksgiving Card 2 for PPCC no 440 inspiration DT project

Version 2 of an image called "Enjoying the Rain" from Cute As a Button=

This is non-traditional structure with mixed media attempt to do something creatively different than card #1. I decided to morph this into a friendship card for Thanksgiving in November since this makes only the 3rd card thus far I've made for autumn-giving.

In card #1's post at the closure I shared that an online crafting friend from a junk journaling group sent me a box full of her treasures that were cleaned off her desk! Lucky desk! That was 1.5 years ago! I've been hoarding that box of goodies and decided to pull out some items that I thought would work for harvest time:
*mocha textured folded scrap piece on L side
*brown CS backing the sentiment section
*corrugated tag backing the girl with umbrella image
*beige eyelash decorative trim used behind the tag's top

The other printed CS are from an old collection that I don't remember who to credit. The strips of washi tapes are American Crafts' My Mind's Eye, I believe.

Black inking around all the cardstocks except the textured one.

Sentiment was made by me to use this rainy day kind of image for a Thanksgiving friendship card.

I'm thrilled to get a couple more Thanksgiving cards made! The creative approach to combine the rainy day image with a sentiment about all-weather dependable friends was brilliant, I think! :)

*For B, C, and D= elements for mixed media include:
*eyelash trim
*textured/embossed mocha paper
*cardstocks, printed and plain
*digital image colored with markers and pencils
*digital/word processing sentiment
*washi tapes
*black ink from stamp pad
*corrugated cardboard

Be Mine with peonies DT inspiration for PPCC blog no 427

Pink peonies are a favorite childhood memory of mine! I've got one little tiny starter that I've nurtured last year which I need to check on. It should be sprouting. This darling image from Little Blue Button Stamps needed to have a pink version and my lovely photo print paper of pink peonies plus stickers led the direction for the card design:

PPCC blog #427 starts 4/24/2019 with "anything goes" theme. Please remember that the title states paper-crafty, so the creations linked to Penny's can't be oil paintings or ceramics or knitting--just paper based projects.

1 prize sponsor this week who has also provided images for the design team: Little Blue Button Stamps. Julie assigned me to the Little Blue Button digital stamps. I'm so glad! I love how her awesome eyes are peeking over the heart she's holding!

link to #427 has not be released as of noon on 4/24/2019; as soon as I can I will edit in the post link

Isn't this peony photo print paper from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) just beautiful!?!! I hated cutting it, but I've been involved in groups like Facebook's 100 Pattern Papers Challenge and Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog & community Facebook group to encourage me to use old products and stop holding onto all the pretties. Even those peony layered stickers I've had for probably 2+ years! It's time to use them. I haven't quite decided who will receive this...possibly my mom for Mother's Day or my sister Martha's birthday that's also coming up in May.

other challenges and/or special recognitions:
a. My Time to Craft Challenge blog (MTTC or MTTCCB) 19 April 2019 theme is Spring Flowers
b. Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and Facebook community= spring green based floral paper I used as background was part of my March 2019 kit I put together last month; this is the current April inspiration kit to mimic post--
link= https://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/04/april-2019-counterfeit-kit-challenge.html

c. 100 Pattern Papers Challenge group on Facebook= the peony print paper has been in my stockpile for over 1 year; kraft cardstock is also an oldie; and so are the peony layered stickers

d. Inspired By (earth day prompt) from Laurel Seabrook Designs= the peonies, little butterfly in the sticker, and the background floral paper with that early spring green grass color, and the green "brick" wall strip with stenciled flourishes--all make me think of springtime and changing seasons here on planet Earth

I will post in Facebook to "Paper, Paper, Paper & Design Team Calls", also.

If you like bold contemporary color palette of red, black, white, and bold blue then check out the other variation I did of this sweet image.

TCCCB no 217 Floral or Easter theme of DT layouts double spread Love Adore Cherish

Forget Me Nots digital image is provided by SheepSki Designs Digital Images & Art sponsor for #217 at The Crafter's Café Challenge Blog

Love...Adore...Cherish...remember...she was 93 years and 10 months old at the time these photos were taken during Thanksgiving weekend 2007. She lived about 33 days or so after this; passing on 1/4/2008.

CHALLENGES:

#1: TCCCB #217= Easter or floral theme...mine is floral; Grandma Rowena loved flowers and loved wearing floral prints, too, even her wedding dress was a dark mauve when she married in 1937

Floral elements: dark raspberry/cocoa brown cardstock has a large floral pattern; the strips of cardstock that "Cherish" and '07 are on came from a large scale floral pattern CS; there is the light gray/taupe background small petal print CS; pinkish lavender floral damask paper was used for 2 of the 3 photo mattings; and of course the gorgeous forget-me-nots bundle digital image from SheepSki

Sponsor ID badge:

#2: CKC blog April 2019= mini kit...this was assembled 'my way' because the color tones do not reflect the featured inspiration kit; I named this mini paper kit "Wild Violets Springtime".

ID badge:

Papers: R side= pinkish lavender damask and the robin's egg blue are from The Paper Studio;
middle= solid purple copy paper is from
L side=

green tab photo caption= my mom, Jane; my aunt, Jill; my grandma, Rowena

rainbow dotted tab photo caption= Martha, my sister; Jane, my mom; Annie and Abby, my nieces; Rowena, my grandma

#3: Use Your Stuff #354: Flora and Fauna (right side or 2nd page of the layouts has floral print cardstocks and butterfly stickers)

ID badge:

Shout-outs: the double page spread will be shared on Facebook with Paper, Paper, Paper & DT Calls group

I'm super excited about this new Design Team (DT) commitment with TCCCB! Thank you SheepSki for providing this beautiful digital image as one of the options for #217!!!!

A Rainbow Waiting For You card

"Keep looking UP...there may be a rainbow waiting for you"

Isn't this a beautiful reminder of God's promise that there will never be a world-wide flood again plus a nudge to believers to keep the faith because He is faithful!

flowers, leaves, butterfly, and elements of an April shower combine for this pretty encouragement card

CHALLENGES:
#1. Sketch is for Sketch N Scrap Spring Fling Crop Challenge #2 using Sketch 74 by Lisa Hidy and the twist to this challenge is to include stamping or inking...I've included both 4 stamps used and 2 papers have inked edges:

#2. Little Red Wagon #492 challenge theme is April showers...I've included clouds, raindrops, and a rainbow

#3. Use Your Stuff #354 challenge prompt is Flora and Fauna...I've included 3 floral patterned papers and a decorative tape plus a butterfly for the fauna (insect...sorry zoologists!)

#4. Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog April 2019...mini kit & Challenge 1 April Showers (but this is my way and doesn't closely reflect the selected Hip Kit March 2019 that we were to mimic; however some of the ephemera is reflected with my March 2019 forgery butterfly and the rain theme stamp set add-ons)

Hip Kit March 2019 ephemera die-cuts close-up pic

Papers used on the card include a pink-lavender damask print from The Paper Studio, a My Mind's Eye Bohemia from 2006 called Bluebird Imagine Floral/Blue, and also from MME Jen Wilson's 29th Street Market from 2008 Carefree Precious Pretty Petals/Sweet Pea Paper along with the Marshmallow white cardstock from Colorbok.

"Wild Violets Springtime" mini kit:

The butterfly is a forgery that I made for my March 2019 CKC kit. I re-purposed a cardstock printed "printer alignment" page and put it back into the printer putting butterfly clipart images over it which I fussy-cut out. This is the 3rd one I've used so far.

#5: Inspired By blog prompt and image for Rainy Day Party: I used a blue and blue-gray tone floral paper similar to the background in this photo prompt. I also stamped a cloud 2 times and added colored pencil highlights to get it to show up better on the textured cardstock. And the rainbow stamp is filled in with some green, yellow, and orange like some of the treats seen in pic 67=

Shout-outs also to:
a. Paper Sweeties website for the stamp set that had the quote, cloud, raindrops, and rainbow

More views of this encouragement occasion greeting card:

Stay tuned for a 2-page scrapbook layout using this mini kit. I'm needing to add embellishments, title, and date with maybe a few lines of journaling before I can present the double page spread.
