Welcome to my blog, Becca's Heart for Creativity! This post features my design team project for S4fC blog=
#159 Countdown Theme= include these 5 elements on your project
5. digital image or stamp
4. cardstock
3. gems
2. embellishments
1. ribbon or lace (I'm using washi tape, instead.)
I've created 2 different thank you cards using "Air Fairy" from Fabrika Fantasy:
Above: card 1 has all five elements: digi image, pink cardstock and white CS, little white pearl gems on the white butterflies, additional butterflies and pink glitter hearts, and a strip of washi tape through the middle separating the 2 patterned papers.
Below: card 2 has 4 of the 5 elements; this one is missing the gems; I thought it didn't need any additional fussiness since the image has lots of lines and curves as do the patterned papers, foil butterflies, and washi tape strips.

First challenge in 2020 for My Time to Craft challenge blog with prompt to use new stash items
Hopefully, you've received some new crafting goodies during this holiday season (or maybe you treated yourself like I did!!!) that you can use for this challenge instead of adding to your hoarding. Don't we get that way??!!! The products are just too pretty to actually use!
MTTC's first challenge for 2020 starts on Friday, January 10th and last for 2 weeks. So start planning now how many new items that you can use...or it can be just one new product. Get creative, folks!
I did 2 cards. This one was made second but is my favorite of the two cards:
The new items are the alpha thicker stickers, mistletoe sprig die-cuts, and the 'husk' colored cardstock by Astrobrights/Neenah, Inc.
Below is card 2=
The new items are the 3 patterned papers from the Cottage Christmas collection by Renne Looney in 2018 for Fancy Pants Designs and the 'husk' colored cardstock by Astrobrights/Neenah, Inc.
1/10/2020-1/23/2020 w/ theme of new stash
Link: http://mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/01/challenge-413-new-stash.html

Some more cropped scans of both cards:

The 2nd featured card's layout design is a reverse of sketch #14 from Laurel Seabrook's Sketchy Saturday series. Her amazing work can be found by searching for Inspired By and Laurel Seabrook Designs.

YOU ARE SPECIAL can be found linked to the following:
1. http://12monthsofchristmaslinkup.blogspot.com/2020/01/challenge-61-opt-twistan-old-fashioned.html; I think the patterned cardstocks have an old-fashioned look to them, especially the 2 strips on the right side of this card. They remind me of wallpaper and fabric that I've seen from the 1940s. The white, green, and red multipatterned paper reminds me more of stuff from my childhood and younger teen years (late 1960s-early 1970s).

Be Mine with peonies DT inspiration for PPCC blog no 427
Pink peonies are a favorite childhood memory of mine! I've got one little tiny starter that I've nurtured last year which I need to check on. It should be sprouting. This darling image from Little Blue Button Stamps needed to have a pink version and my lovely photo print paper of pink peonies plus stickers led the direction for the card design:
PPCC blog #427 starts 4/24/2019 with "anything goes" theme. Please remember that the title states paper-crafty, so the creations linked to Penny's can't be oil paintings or ceramics or knitting--just paper based projects.
1 prize sponsor this week who has also provided images for the design team: Little Blue Button Stamps. Julie assigned me to the Little Blue Button digital stamps. I'm so glad! I love how her awesome eyes are peeking over the heart she's holding!
link to #427 has not be released as of noon on 4/24/2019; as soon as I can I will edit in the post link
edit: pennyschallenges.blogspot.com/2019/04/welcome-to-pennys-challenge-427_25.html sorry there was an almost 2 day delay...
Isn't this peony photo print paper from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) just beautiful!?!! I hated cutting it, but I've been involved in groups like Facebook's 100 Pattern Papers Challenge and Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog & community Facebook group to encourage me to use old products and stop holding onto all the pretties. Even those peony layered stickers I've had for probably 2+ years! It's time to use them. I haven't quite decided who will receive this...possibly my mom for Mother's Day or my sister Martha's birthday that's also coming up in May.
other challenges and/or special recognitions:
a. My Time to Craft Challenge blog (MTTC or MTTCCB) 19 April 2019 theme is Spring Flowers
b. Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and Facebook community= spring green based floral paper I used as background was part of my March 2019 kit I put together last month; this is the current April inspiration kit to mimic post--
link= https://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/04/april-2019-counterfeit-kit-challenge.html
link= https://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/04/april-2019-counterfeit-kit-challenge.html
c. 100 Pattern Papers Challenge group on Facebook= the peony print paper has been in my stockpile for over 1 year; kraft cardstock is also an oldie; and so are the peony layered stickers
d. Inspired By (earth day prompt) from Laurel Seabrook Designs= the peonies, little butterfly in the sticker, and the background floral paper with that early spring green grass color, and the green "brick" wall strip with stenciled flourishes--all make me think of springtime and changing seasons here on planet Earth
link: https://theseinspiredchallenges.blogspot.com/2019/04/inspired-by-earth-day.html

Friendship theme card 2 combines Sketchy Saturday and SOS and CKC blog challenges
Celebrating friendship
Isn't this so sweet?!!! I haven't decided who to mail this to yet, but I love the little doily section at the top...and the soft pastel plaid paper section, the little lady bugs border sticker, the teal pearl gems, and ….
Some of the suppliers/vendors are:
a. peach floral washi tape and pocket card = My Mind's Eye
b. metallic ink stamp pads = Hampton Art
c. Bloom Where You Are Planted quote, leaves, stems set = Paper Sweeties website
d. teal blue pearl gems and teal blue flower stick-ons bought at Dollar Tree
e. "Marshmallow" white cardstock for the base of the card = Colorbok
Link-up participation elements for submissions to the following:
CKCB: March 6th was mini kit challenge; March 12th was Challenge #1 for frames
For the March 2019 challenge, instead of photographing 1 large kit, I took time to divide items into 6 mini kits. This photo shows March mini kit #1 from which most of the supplies for this card came from.
|
Would you consider the tape/sticker corner pieces to be a frame for the pocket card?
SOS #391: very subtle silver metallic stamped quote over the stems and leaves says "Bloom Where You Are Planted" ; inside which I didn't photograph is simply stamped "With love" in gold metallic ink
SK SAT #43: use the sketch design shown; for the sentiment, I didn't want to cover up this subtle design pocket card so I didn't put a message on that side of the sketch layout https://laurelseabrookdesigns.blogspot.com/2019/03/sketchy-saturday-with-i-heart-us.html
Tip the sketch design to its left and then cut off the bottom or right side white space and you should see my interpretation for the shaded areas shown on #43 Sketchy Saturday. The pocket card already had the peach stripe in the center of the card so I'm letting that represent the narrow rectangle shape on the sketch. The large outlined rose on that same pocket card fills up the circular shaded shape on the sketch. The plaid scrap section represents the lightest gray section shaded on the sketch and the doily helps represent the mid-gray section that extends up above the light gray section.
The base paper was stamped with gold metallic ink (leaves and stems), silver metallic ink (quote: Bloom Where You Are Planted), and white metallic ink (large circular rose-like flowers). For this card I decided to place teal blue flower stick-ons above the stamped stems. It does cover most of the white metallic ink stamped roses, though.
If you pay close attention to subtle differences, this above pic shows the white circular flower shapes and you can see some silver but may not be able to read the words. I didn't want exactness. I wanted abstract.
Making cards in pairs seems to keep me better focused and getting more done in about the same time as I use most of the same kit supplies and stamping both backgrounds together. Yea! With the sketch, the friendship theme, the mini kit, etc. this card was made in about 1/2 hour!!! This is such a sweet friendly spring card!
A lovely card for my lovely best friend forever! This card shown above and the focus of my last blog post was also made from the same mini kit for CKC blog for March 2019.
