HIMCR 361 scraps theme with Christmas in July twist

2nd Saturdays of the month at HIMCR are about using your scraps, thus the twist for July is to have Christmas included in your paper-crafted creation.

Here is what I made for the DT inspirations for #361:

This photo shown below is proof that papers on the right have been used previously, so my scraps. As seen above, the spring green glitter paper wasn't used. Red cardstock was folded for the card base. The antique wallpaper looking paper (The Paper Studio) was used for sentiment backing for both the cover and inside panels. The khaki green and dark red prints are old stock as is the 6" x 6" cardstock.

The fabulous winter deer featured Christmas card is for challenge #361's Design Team inspirations using the prize sponsor's image(s) at HIMCR. Use the blog post link for seeing the rest of the DT cards, details for this challenge and participating, guidelines, past sponsors, archived posts, and more.

Some more photos of the card that use the green glitter paper as a backdrop:

As soon as I saw this very impressive deer image at MHK Designs, I knew I wanted to select this to use for this Saturday. Thanks again, MHK Designs, for allowing us to pick out what we wanted to use from your marvelous digital images!!

Bookmarks with color palette for CTD 501 and IB 28

What colors remind you of nature? meadows? woods? hills and mountains?

These challenges started at different times this week have been the sources of motivation for creating 2 bookmarks. A school district near us has the mascot Timberwolves and colors of dark green, gray, and black. So I decided this evening to fuse the color combos together a bit:

Inspired By #28 Campfire S'mores (colors: kraft, white, dark brown/black, and green from the boxes)
Color Throwdown #501 colors (grey, yellow, kraft, and white)

Here's my shopped supplies from my stockpiles to get ready. You will notice some editing has been done. Until I've played around with combinations and sizes, several changes can occur while in the process of making paper crafted creations. Digital images have had several layers of colored pencils (black, gray, dark brown, light brown) added to them to make them match the color palettes better. Placement of elements is different between the two. Thinking of you border is different on each bookmark as well as what was used as the base and what was used for the background.

#1: CTD 501

#2: IB 28
