why: This post is showing a quick scraps & stash usage card made last night. Earlier this year I started a personal series called 'Don't Throwaway Scraps Thursdays'. This is #10.

why: The purpose of this post is to highlight the 9th Thursday this year for an installment of my personal series "Don't Throwaway Scraps Thursdays"!!! I haven't had time since 3rd week of May to do this. In June, we spent 5 days to travel through Indiana, Ohio, a small bit of Pennsylvania and the western half of New York state! Enjoying nature like Lake Erie and Lake Ontario along with smaller lakes in the Finger Lakes region. Also seeing the orchards and dairy farms. Historic sites. And even 2 genealogy connections for me. In late June we had my niece Gwen's wedding for an overnight trip in southern IL and some venturing in eastern Missouri. In July I had my 45th high school class reunion get-togethers. I stayed overnight in a motel in order to spend less time on the roads. About a 2.5 hour trip one way. Those were some wonderful get-togethers. My SIL and I also met for lunch on Saturday noon at a yummy place filled with antiques. In August we spent more time at my mom's farmhouse to work on clean-out/donate/trash. In early September mom's place was finalized for clean-out, so that's a huge relief. We've done a few short daytime road trips in our area and I've met with 2 of my childhood friends several times for encouraging girl time. We've got two weekends coming up for overnight trips again to enjoy autumn season activities. There have been some home changes and updates like adding my craft studio/shed onto our property plus 1 of our decks needed new boards that Joe did. Staying very busy!

why: it's been about 2 weeks since I've had a chance to make a scraps card for my DTST personal series! Part of the issue was 4 days spent working on sorting through 'stuff' still remaining at my mom's place. My out-of-state sister was here, so she took another car load to her home. Lots got donated in 2 trips last week and 1 trip yesterday. Some stuff got burned. (farm) Some stuff brought into town to our trash bin. And some more stuff came to my crowded little house! sigh....The scrap strips for this card had been weaved together last week but that was as far as it got. 

Last night I taped the underside joints/crossovers and then used a lot of dual-sided adhesive tape strips to get this secured to the square base. The outlining of the strips was also done last night. Then this evening, I added the ephemera and word stickers.

why: This posting shares my newest non-design team project for this personal blog series I started. I need to be purposeful about using these odd leftovers shapes and lots of 1/2" wide or 1" wide side cut strips are waiting. the what: Project #1 notecard "Leaves in the wind" =

the how-to notes:

1. the base is cut from what's left from a sheet of neon green (scanner toned down) = Astrobrights Neon Pack by Neenah

2. all the other specialty papers came in scraps packs = Crafter's Square; pieces were measured so there would be at least 1/4" difference between each scrap piece

3. the wooden leaf shapes from a pack (were plain) = Crafter's Square

4. the lime green leaf was inked with Pea Green alcohol marker = Arteza

5. the darkest one is stamped/inked with Always Artichoke = SU

6. the teal and other greens = markers from my stash (different vendors)

7. "Just a Note" stamp from a set of different messages = Art Skills; wood red rubber stamp

post's purpose...the why: It was a squeeze to get 2 cards created with scraps from my work table because the end of the month is quickly coming and I've got 4 challenges on Friday the 28th and then two for April 1st and additional four on April 2nd! I do have lots of scrap cuts. What would help is for me to take an hour and make up some mini kits by sorting through some of the scraps and group by a color palette or a mix of prints. post purpose/why: It's Thursday and I had time to squeeze in #2 of my new series "Don't Throwaway Scraps Thursday" posting. These scraps and a mail solicitation/religious prayer card were combined with 2 stickers for an encouragement card. I only had time to create 1 this week. Our personal lives have been a bit wacky. And the weather's been wacky. Tornadoes and snow within days/hours and within less than a week apart!!!
