MTTC #524 Sympathy theme card for DT commitment on 29 December 2023

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!

Purpose: I'm keeping happy thoughts for you that 2023 is ending calmly and quietly. My Time To Craft challenge blog's new theme is sympathy. Death comes at any time and a DT member suggested we end 2023 and start 2024 remembering others, showing empathy with our cardmaking.

When: #524 starts December 29, 2023 and ends on January 11, 2024

What: the dove brings peace and comfort to the family card

Notes:

1. green cardstock base = Neenah

2. light gray paper scrap was edged with black diamond-cut glitter tape (stash items)

3. white cardstock scrap panel (Neenah) was inked-edged with Pea Green alcohol marker from Arteza

4. stencils are from 2 different sheets; both were bought at Dollar Tree; more of the Pea Green alcohol marker was used

5. the silver glittered dove 'ornament' focal = 1 of a boxed set bought at Dollar Tree

Denim Blues Inspired Sympathy Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity card! Sadly, a lifetime close family friend of my husband and his siblings lost his battle with cancer on July 7th. Creatively, I've been wanting to craft something for the denim inspiration at Deanne's challenge blog and thought I'd do a unique sympathy card for the family.

There are 2 different textured specialty cardstocks for the inside panel so using the white blank card with front cover square window was a good artistic opportunity to do something mixed media on the front.

Let's take a sneak peek

Featured elements to take note of:

1. 3 cordings tied on the left--yellow and 2 shades of blue

2. blue acrylic paint, sunflower yellow colored pencil marks, and gold glitter tempera paint

3. gold metallic foil dazzle for the main sentiment (Paper Wishes website)

4. stamp for the secondary sentiment (Hampton Arts, I think)

5. white card with square window opening on front panel with a white envelope came from a set (Studio G)

now some views using my cell phone=

Sympathy Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Lots of hearts on this sympathy card are physical reminders that the receiver is loved while they are mourning. The Scripture verse is found at Word Art Wednesday challenge blog and is a free digital to download. Yesterday I stencil-painted the 'scattered hearts' and had traced the heart shape onto the gray cardstock prior to brushing on the paint. Leftover paint on my foam brush was swirled around onto a scrap of the mid-gray cardstock. More design notes after the pics.

Sympathy card=

Design notes:

A. chromatic colored grid heart is a freebie image offered in the Heart's Quest Challenge Blog Fans Group in FB.

B. the purple acrylic painted stenciled heart was made with Simple Stories Scattered Hearts stencil

C. the white/diamond glitter heart's cardstock is from Pen + Gear

D. the white vinyl "WDS" is a dazzle from a mixed sentiment set from Paper Wishes website/store

E. the light gray and mid-gray cardstocks are from Pen + Gear

F. the dark purple cardstock is old stash from Colorbok

Use a household product theme for the March 2020 challenge at APTS blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog with a post that revolves around creative resourcefulness! What can you upcycle from something found in your house? Maybe it's not upcycling. Maybe it's repurposing. Whatever sparks your creativity in this, it might be difficult to outdo the rest of the design team crew of APTS blog!

For my resident designer (DT crew) inspiration project(s), I got the brainstorm about using the word "ultrabrite"/ultrabright for adjectives to make a friendship card and an encouragement/sympathy card=

Card #1= larger font size brand name from toothpaste packaging

Card #2= medium font size brand name from the same toothpaste packaging

Supply and/or vendor notes:
a. Card #2's Scripture Stickers are from Creative Devotion purchased at Family Dollar (I found 3 different sets. All the clear-view ones shown are from the same sticker set.)

b. lots of scraps used today!--both of cardstock and patterned papers--win-win

c. "Ultrabrite" TM panels cut from 1 box that a tube of toothpaste came in.

d. My Mind's Eye is the product line for the patterned cardstock scraps found on both cards (minty blue with white dot and it's reverse side that looks like notebook paper)

Make It Krafty Theme for MTTC no 398 Design Team Project

Kraft paper is the challenge theme prompt for the new bi-weekly, every other Friday, #398 at My Time To Craft blog

I decided to use the kraft cardstock as accent pieces. The kraft CS was laid over a brick wall patterned texture rubbing plate and colored with brown and raw sienna crayons. Two sections have additional crayon colors in order to add a sentiment word (Sympathy) and a butterfly border.

Design notes:
a. center focal piece is from a coloring book; approx. 3.25" wide and 3.75" high
b. white cardstock is recycled packing insert from glue adhesive dots (!); 3.5" wide and 4" high
c. purple cardstock base measures 5" by 7"
d. the purple with blue flower patterned paper measures 4.5" wide by 6" high
e. washi tapes are from set by Pen + Gear
f. all papers and embellishments of butterfly and gem dots have been in my craft supplies for a very long time...feels good to get them used in spite of my aching heart today learning that my cousin's 30 year old daughter passed away two days ago

MTTC blog #398 ID badge and post link=

*******
Layout for this card was inspired by the new card sketch challenge at Paper Craft Crew #338=

I receive PCC updates through emailed newsletter. However I will provide a website link=

I turned the sketch design to the right 90 degrees. Instead of flourishes, I decided this would be great spots for the little brick wall textured accents made using the required kraft cardstock for MTTC. The gray ribbon area on the sketch became the 2 narrow strips of washi tapes that help reinforce the emotion behind the sentiment (sympathy). Some gem dots and a butterfly instead of the star help complete the card.

Another blog link-up will be "A Inky Mess" #31 mixed media theme challenge that started 25 may 2019:

link= https://ainkymess.blogspot.com/2019/05/challenge-31.html

for evidence the elements include: coloring book focal using markers and colored pencils; texture 'brick wall' on kraft cardstock; glossy white cardstock, purple cardstock; purple with blue flowers patterned paper; washi tapes; gem dots; foil butterfly

CCMWF Facebook group late August 2018 short challenge

Short challenge for 8/27/18-9/2/2018 at CCMWF (Christian Card Making ~ Women's Fellowship)

Make some cards and mail at least 1 to a group member using a old collection of papers (paper pad; how most manufacturers print for sale).

Cards are made and 6 are ready to mail tomorrow, 9/4/2018, when the post office system starts again after the Labor Day holiday weekend. There are lots of photos to show covers and insides! I was rather ambitious to use a partially used old Card-Maker kit of the month plus an old set of beautiful 2-sided cardstock pad. I've only got about 15% of the card of the month kit left and the paper pad only got 2 full sheets used by Sunday night's deadline. [some more of this will be seen in September!]

Stickers pulled and used almost 2 sheets and partials of 2 others, so a small dent was made! :)

Card #1: sympathy (base and papers are from the card-of-the-month kit)

Card #2: birthday (aqua, yellow, and ivory paper is old stock carried over from another August challenge at CKC blog and the rest is card-of-the-month kit)

Card #3: birthday (white w/ gray dots, orange print, and the green variegated print directly under the orange are more leftover papers from a recent CKC August challenge along with the scrap strips stapled inside and the rest come from the card of the month kit)

Card #4: birthday (all papers are from the card of the month kit)

Card #5: birthday (mix of the CKC blog kit from August and the card of the month kit)

Card #6: birthday (most of the papers are card of the month kit)

These 4 are from the 8.5" square beautiful 2-sided cardstock paper collection. I still want to add some lace or seam binding or maybe a strip of a decorative tape to the front of each without losing the awesome floral prints:

This was a crazy whirl of crafting this weekend in between seeing a few out-of-town cousins, a few in-town cousins, my mom and my great aunt then spending 1 1/2 hours at a concert downtown and a parade this afternoon that were part of the community's annual Labor Day celebration! And church Sunday morning, too!

PCC 300 CAS sketch challenge combined with IB pool time photo inspiration challenge

Thinking of you with peace, joy, and love

Challenge #1: PCC 300 [sketch layout inspiration]= zig-zag striped paper replaces the white space; blueberry cardstock base replaces the left side strip; the large heart with flowered cross shape replaces the flowers and leaves; sentiment was added as a border on the focal; the ribbon was replaced with the mesh gems strip; and the 3 dots are iridescent gems in the lower right corner

PCC badge and link:  http://papercraftcrew.com/pcc300-sketch-challenge/

Challenge 2: IB #30 [pool time photo inspiration]--used the colors as my inspiration!

https://theseinspiredchallenges.blogspot.com/2018/07/inspired-by-pool-time.html

Blues. Greens. Pinks. A little bit of yellow on the inside patterned paper.

Patterned papers are combination of Colorbok and The Paper Studio. Flowered cross stenciling is on a page from a paper New Testament's I Corinthians 15. A white paint pen was used to give that translucence look and then outlined with black gel pen, silver glitter mini brad in the center and cut out with decorative Fiskers scissors.
