Welcome! I'm Becca S of Becca's Heart for Creativity and today's blog post features a design team commitment for My Time To Craft challenge blog. For the next fortnight, the theme is focused on love, so we are looking for Valentine's or wedding occasion paper-crafted creations.

My husband and I recently celebrated our #24th anniversary and I started singing snippets of various songs that use the word love. He thought I was being too corny. But I was trying to insert a bit of romance to my un-romantic hubby...tee-hee!..."love me tender, love me true"..."love is a many splendid thing"...(or is it splendored?)…"truly, hopelessly in love with you"....

I'm not sure why the bottom heart is dark when it's a lavender foil. See the 2nd photo from the top for the more realistic colors of both foil hearts. "& me" is written on the bottom heart.

shout-out to Facebook group 100 Pattern Papers Challenge= the marble/shell looking base cardstock, the checked, and yellow with white chevron papers along with the mocha grosgrain ribbon are old inventory; specifically leftover sections from a project last autumn! I brought them in from my garage work zone this afternoon to work on doing something creatively amazing for "Lizzy Hopwood" while sitting at the dining room table! This is what I came up with.

shout-out to Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and Facebook community group = the pink and white chevron strip and soft raspberry strip are scraps from cardstock papers used this winter for many of their kits and/or challenges.

These 2 groups have really energized my creative process these past 10 months to delve into my old inventory and put different combinations together. I've always loved to mix and match however these groups really endorse that thinking and I feel it has been liberating to know that there are others across the world feeling the same way.

CKC Blog Feb 2019 kit forgeries made into pocket cards

It's the little things...like faking aging of white cardstock using eye shadow makeup...yes, I did!!!

Above: 2 corner pockets ready for a mixed format scrapbook page; forgeries were made to look like 1800s-era naturalist book entries

Below: the reverse sides are ready of the 'zoological' forgeries

Design note: 3 of the 4 patterned papers are from The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby and the 1 wood grain with mossy green under the owl is a very old paper I've been saving an L-section scrap of that was just wide enough to mat behind the owl!!!

Next: before cutting apart and trimming, this is what the sheet looked like after about 30 minutes of applying different glitter eye shadow colors with sponge applicators--

Now with these forgeries, I've started backwards because photos or story to tell were not my starting point, it was these pocket cards. So I've got to finish their pages with some awesome nature-related photos and/or souvenirs! I like what I've done so far! Let's keep fingers crossed that I can do creative justice to these beauties!!!

CKC blog Feb 2019 gathered kit reveal titled Bodacious Botanicals

Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog has a gorgeous natural history museum looking collection picked by Master Forger Julene for February 2019's inspiration for crafters to copy cat through culling their stockpiles.

Bodacious Botanicals kit gathered from my stockpiles:

Above: 4 note cards that will be used like pocket cards; 2 large pocket cards; 5 small pocket cards; a few die-cuts; floral theme sticker sheet bought several months ago but not used yet just like the posies and butterflies next seen (credits to: Maggie Holmes and Vicki Boutin and American Crafts)

Below: The closest cardstocks I have to reflect the Anthology collection are the 7 sheets to the right of the white butterfly stick-ons and my forgery pocket cards/sheet=

Below: on the left are 4 papers with butterflies and then the 4th cardstock to the right also has butterflies; sadly none have that muted aged historical appearance like the inspiration collection :(

Design note about reflecting or not reflecting the inspiration collection: Color-wise I tried to pick creams, brown/russets, black, greens, blues, and yellows. Shapes-wise I tried focusing picks of butterflies, moths, birds including owls, plants including flowering ones. (botanical elements)

my old craft supply stockpiles don't have that vintage aged botanical scientific book look but I do have some of the main shapes (birds, butterflies, moths) and 1 pocket card featuring an old typewriter

I think I might try to age some of my picked papers by using ink or paint or colored pencil (maybe even coffee dye process)!!! If you love nature, hiking, visiting parks or museums or public gardens, you want to spend some time getting inspired.

CKC blog LIRNH kit LO five with forgery 2 and CKC mood board combined

Layout #5 for 4th anniversary date combines forgery 2 and mood board elements

Personal challenge from late December 2018 up to our 23rd anniversary on January 27, 2019 is to have 23 dates within a 23-mile radius of our home...well, almost 23 give or take 10-15 miles extra!! Challenges within the challenge have been weather and husband's health needs, so as I type this blog we've managed to get 13 dates completed up to yesterday, January 18th. We are going to have to have more 'dates' each day if we are going to get this done in 8 days!

Documenting this journey, today's blog post is the 4th date from January 5th:

Part of the Counterfeit challenges is to create forgeries (Forgeries on the Fourth). My second forgery for this month and my LIRNH kit is to make woodgrain paper using decorative tape and then it was cut into a heart shape which is a repeating element for our anniversary date documented album.

Another part of the Counterfeit challenge each month are "challenges 1 and 2" which change each and every time based on what the Master Forger assigned to each month has planned. Challenge 1 is about ringing in the new year--to do something new. I do have a new sticker in the bottom left section that I applied over a pink foam heart sticker. However I want to focus on 2 aspects of Challenge 2 from the mood board: the collage of book pages that has yellow, ivory, and brown tones and the stack of books image. Every section has stacking and/or layering with some staggered and some that are visual, like the cardstock border strips from 3 My Mind's Eye papers used for the "Date 4".

Above: the bottom left section's colors, layering, and placement turned out very nice for this pocket's layout design!!!

Above: bottom right section close-up (this isn't my favorite section but I'd been wanted to include a chipboard balloon since I've been using some hot air print balloon paper as a design element instead of the bicycles that are seen in the "Hannah" kit.) I like the repeating colors and papers but not how I placed the pieces...something's just off...but I really love the other sections

Below: like the "Date 4" section with its "stacked book" kind of look from the mood board using more patterned papers from the border edges of 3 double-sided My Mind's Eye papers put in my January LIRNH kit!!! Too cute!!!

Above: the Felicity Jane's "Hannah" kit revealed in October 2018 that is the inspiration for making copy-cat versions out of our own craft supplies "stockpiles". In this layout, the prominent elements that show up from "Hannah" are the woodgrain, scallop/fish scale, and hearts.

Go back to the January 4th post to find out about "Forgeries on the Fourth". Each month a few of the Master Forgers lead the way on re-creating something from the inspiration kit that they don't have in their supplies or what was pulled for their copy-cat kit. I didn't have a color spot paper pulled for my LIRNH kit so that was my forgery #1 featured in a previous blog post. Today's feature is forgery #2 the woodgrain heart shown below in the making:

My scrappy power is my passion to try new ideas, whether it is sketch layouts, color combos, techniques, or supplies. With this project I've used a new sketch, a mood board, and the butterfly sticky note; the rest is old stuff found in my October kit for CKCB (and also their Guest Designer for the month!!)

The sketch was turned again 90 degrees right with some slight changes: (1) proportions of strips were altered; (2) text was added to a butterfly sticky note that was also used instead of partial large star; (3) stars were replaced with enamel/plastic dots scattered around the layout; (4) photo has a background mat paper since base is white cardstock (not the yellow).

Whew! I'll take a blogging break for a day or so and then get back to scrapping more old snapshots for the Sadler file folder photo album pocket project that I posted about a few days ago. In fact, the featured scrap layout here has my husband, Mr. Sadler (tee-hee) with his nephew Kenny and his wife Karen. I'm the photographer! Circa 2008 boat ride on the Illinois River at Starved Rock State Park.
