HIMCR 330 Super Scraps Saturday challenge

www.hidinginmycraftroom.com/2017/12/himcr-330-super-scraps-saturday.html

As a new member of the HIMCR design team I had to have my inspiration(s) for the challenge ready to post by late Thursday night. So these creations (this is first post for #330) were made early in the week and I'm getting ready to work on what's due December 14. Does that make sense?

Use the link to get details and rules for participating in the challenge. The sponsor for the prize offered is Di's Digi Stamps. I looked at their Christmas selection and noticed a mouse and poinsettia together, so I thought I'd try to do something similar for my primary submission.

I found this cute little mouse poking his head out of a filled Christmas stocking through searching b/w images online:

And then I found this simple poinsettia also while searching for b/w images:

I crafted my "lavish" card in 2 sessions because the fussy-cutting and paper-piecing took time, as you will notice in the photo. The bottom portion of the stocking was created with scraps of neon green cardstock and red paper that were pieced together. The poinsettia was cut apart and used in 2 different locations but I did add a partial 2nd row to the displayed top section because I love it when I see poinsettias with a range of hues from pinks to reds to oranges to corals.

Here's the back side of the stocking before I adhered it to the layers of background and base of the card. I just colored the busy full upper part with markers and then pieced together the 4 parts to make up the vibrant stocking.

The HIMCR blog has a more straight-on taken photo but I like this angled one! And because those front panel focals took a lot of time, I made the inside very simple:

More gray cardstock scrap with the front part of a gift tag used as a sentiment "happy holidays one and all".

Some of the supplies and vendors to make this beauty were:
*green, orange, and red paper scraps from Grafix
*light gray cardstock scraps from a Multicolor Scrap Pack by Colorbok
*neon bright green cardstock scraps used for the stocking and leaves from Astrobrights by Neenah
*white cardstock (folded to 5" x 7") from Georgia-Pacific
*gift tag
*iridescent gems
*black marker for lettering, stitching details on stocking, stitched border detail, outlining for poinsettias
*variety of other color markers for items in stocking

On the HIMCR blog I also posted advent ATCs for the first 7 days of December as another way to use scraps. That photo will be featured in a separate post, so be sure to check back.

Crafting in the very cold heartland,
Becca
