Mother's Day card

For my mom:

terrific card with lots of layers and details

Just realized I hadn't posted the card I made for my wonderful mother for this year's special day. From start to finish it took almost 2 hours but part of that was due to some disorganization that slowed me down. Color-wise I knew my palette. My mom's favorite color is blue. Normally her mother's day and birthday cards have lots of blue but this time I decided to change. (My siblings' purchased cards were tones of pink, so I guess we were all thinking similar soft easy colors for her this year.)

Here's my 2012 Mother's Day card:

Supplies and vendors:
1. Studio G= white ink pad, gray ink pad, brown w/ white dot ribbon, blue Queen Anne's Lace tape, 'you are the best' stamp
2. Jolee's= clear jewels
3. Colorbok= cardstock (pale pink, royal blue)
4. Paper Wishes website= free download of colored labels images
5. Elmer's Craft Glues= different adhesives

Card-making: 2nd posting for another birthday card

Showcasing embellishments from different vendors:

Birthday card creation for a niece

For this particular niece, in keeping with a favorite design motif (butterflies) of hers, I wanted a butterfly to be the central focus of the card cover. After that, I wanted to put lots of glittery elements on the front...like what icing does for a cake.

The card cover:

Showcasing embellishments from Studio G:

Birthday card for my sister

All the embellishments (ribbons; brad; letter stickers; celebrate, flower and dragonfly stickers; and patterned papers) except for the glittered dots are from Studio G. This made the execution process less time-consuming (at least for me!).

The cardstocks (brown print and vibrant green)and adhesives are from other vendors. For me, the color combination of dark browns and vibrant greens was intriguing. I really liked the impact when I scanned the card. I'll have to try this combination again sometime soon.

Did you notice three repeating design elements showing up in the embellishments? (dragonflies, dots and Queen Anne's Lace)
