Be Mine with peonies DT inspiration for PPCC blog no 427

Pink peonies are a favorite childhood memory of mine! I've got one little tiny starter that I've nurtured last year which I need to check on. It should be sprouting. This darling image from Little Blue Button Stamps needed to have a pink version and my lovely photo print paper of pink peonies plus stickers led the direction for the card design:

PPCC blog #427 starts 4/24/2019 with "anything goes" theme. Please remember that the title states paper-crafty, so the creations linked to Penny's can't be oil paintings or ceramics or knitting--just paper based projects.

1 prize sponsor this week who has also provided images for the design team: Little Blue Button Stamps. Julie assigned me to the Little Blue Button digital stamps. I'm so glad! I love how her awesome eyes are peeking over the heart she's holding!

link to #427 has not be released as of noon on 4/24/2019; as soon as I can I will edit in the post link

Isn't this peony photo print paper from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) just beautiful!?!! I hated cutting it, but I've been involved in groups like Facebook's 100 Pattern Papers Challenge and Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog & community Facebook group to encourage me to use old products and stop holding onto all the pretties. Even those peony layered stickers I've had for probably 2+ years! It's time to use them. I haven't quite decided who will receive this...possibly my mom for Mother's Day or my sister Martha's birthday that's also coming up in May.

other challenges and/or special recognitions:
a. My Time to Craft Challenge blog (MTTC or MTTCCB) 19 April 2019 theme is Spring Flowers
b. Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and Facebook community= spring green based floral paper I used as background was part of my March 2019 kit I put together last month; this is the current April inspiration kit to mimic post--
link= https://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/04/april-2019-counterfeit-kit-challenge.html

c. 100 Pattern Papers Challenge group on Facebook= the peony print paper has been in my stockpile for over 1 year; kraft cardstock is also an oldie; and so are the peony layered stickers

d. Inspired By (earth day prompt) from Laurel Seabrook Designs= the peonies, little butterfly in the sticker, and the background floral paper with that early spring green grass color, and the green "brick" wall strip with stenciled flourishes--all make me think of springtime and changing seasons here on planet Earth

I will post in Facebook to "Paper, Paper, Paper & Design Team Calls", also.

If you like bold contemporary color palette of red, black, white, and bold blue then check out the other variation I did of this sweet image.

New mini notebook documenting paternal relatives has 2nd entry

Typically traveler notebook or TNs are taller but I found this handy size hard cover notebook with elastic stretch band closure at Dollar Tree! The price was right to continue experimenting with different variations of scrapbooking!

2nd entry in my Morris family notebook:

from L to R: my Aunt Rachel, my dad John, my aunt Mary, and their cousin Carolyn

CHALLENGES:
[#1] I've tried to follow a color palette challenge and sketch design for the 1st entry:

[#1-A] Lisa's challenge is this sketch design= my Right page definitely reflect the sketch design very well; Left page has more changes with journaling/sub-titling running vertically and the 'header' section of the notepad was shifted down on my layout and instead of 1 paper/piece with 'tails', I've used 2 tag stickers that each have 'tails'. And it is all on top of a colorful patterned cardstock.

[#1-B] Lori's color board challenge (which I've got 4 of the 5)= peachy orange, mint green, robin egg blue, and bright pinks

[#2] APTS challenge blog's mid-month April prompt is Anything Goes (there is an optional twist to do 3 of 5 suggestions: tag, vellum, watercolor, die, and/or flower)--but just AG for my layout

[#3] Facebook group: Traveler Notebook Scrapbookers

[#4] Facebook group to share blog post: Paper, Paper, Paper & Design Team Calls

More snapshots of this 2nd entry in my dad-related notebook=

Even though spring started one month ago, we had a snowstorm exactly one week ago on Palm Sunday. Today is Easter Sunday and these layout entries I made last night just evoke sunshine and springtime gardens for me! The color mix definitely makes one think of rainbows, jelly beans, all the flavors and colors of Jello, and even cupcake sprinkles!

Stay tuned to see what I'll be crafting next from my little piece of USA heartland!

New mini notebook featuring entry one documents my paternal relatives

6.5" x 4.5" size notebook type journal is being filled with snapshots taken at a family reunion in 2004

The kit I put together with the vibrant colors seen in the color board further down in the posting:

CHALLENGES:
[#1] I've tried to follow a color palette challenge and sketch design for the 1st entry:

[#1-A] Lisa's challenge is this sketch design=
Lisa's "half" of the TN Time link: https://createdbylisa.blogspot.com/2019/04/april-tn-time-with-lisa-lori-challenge.html

compare to my interpretation: on L page= no bow; butterfly instead of daisy; strip or header has been moved down some; lined paper and it's paper behind it has been subbed with 2 tag stickers with 'tails' to use for journaling; and the date or year has been made super bold with the puffy stickers

on R page= at the top I only used 1 strip of cardstock with flowers on it due to height of cropped photo; snapshot was layered on top of 2 papers; title area was shifted a bit and the tape pieces reduced to a small section just on the right corner

[#1-B] Lori's color board challenge (which I've got 4 of the 5)= peachy orange, mint green, robin egg blue, and bright pinks
Lori's "half" of the TN Time link: https://loriannie670.blogspot.com/2019/04/tn-time-with-lisa-lori-april-challenge.html

[#2] APTS challenge blog's mid-month April prompt is Anything Goes (there is an optional twist to do 3 of 5 suggestions: tag, vellum, watercolor, die, and/or flower)--but just AG for my layout

Easter Crosses for 2019

From the epistle of 1st John, we have a reminder that God loves us so much that His Son Jesus was our substitute on the cross:

My sister-in-law Linda, her daughter Lisa with fiancé Kevin, and Lisa's daughter Bridgette drove 4 hours one way to visit with us this afternoon for about 3 hours! They are going to do some river road on the return drive (about 20 miles worth) along the Illinois River in order to have a break from all the flat land! :)

I made these Scripture crosses as their keepsake for Easter weekend.

Design notes and details along with the challenge blogs that I will be linking this project to=

Above: 2 key patterned papers= this was what remained before tracing and cutting out the circle background bases from my April mini kit for the CKC blog.

Above: this is what I started with at the beginning of April 2019

CKC blog ID badge:

Marshmallow white cardstock (Colorbok) served as the paper for the Scripture typed in a Google Doc. I tried several different fonts and sizes until I got this situated like I was envisioning. I'd been seen several different word art verse crosses in some Bible journaling groups in the past week or two and knew I could create a forgery.

Last night I measured out the edges then cut out each one (document set up in 2 columns with 2 in each column). This week I was at Dollar Tree stocking up on some household items and ventured to the teaching/crafting section (shame on me!) and saw a 3-pack set of textured plastic rubbing plates!!! I decided to use the brick wall looking patterned one for the crosses. I used up to 5 different crayons to vary each one (brown, burnt sienna, raw sienna, apricot, and peach). Bright white crosses become interesting and textural with the depths of colors and line marks.
