MTTC challenge theme focus of florals starts 28 May 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart tends to favor flowers and butterflies so I just had to go on a quest through my supplies to see what I could find. The image featured here was used back in February for another challenge blog and with the artist/company/blog owner's permission I'm showcasing it for MTTC's new floral theme. This new challenge theme for MTTC's #458 will go for 2 weeks or to June 10th.

I've colored the image a little differently plus printed it on a soft yellow cardstock compared to February's usage. The two patterned papers are very old but I've been paper-hoarding them and trying to use small sections because I really like the chocolate brown tones with the deep pinks. More creative design notes to follow. For the theme of florals, the image has the mouse presenting the large flower to the hedgehog, a small pink flower sticker for embellishing, and the patterned paper sandwiched between the "Hello" and the image has some flowers. Introducing...

Isn't it the cutest???!!! My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog's 10th theme is "Fairy Lights" or Christmas tree light strings/strands. MTTC challenge blog technique theme of inch cuts starts 14 May 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart has been flip-flopping between excitement and anxiety!!!! The technique of 'inchies' is great for those who love precision and math! And for those of us who don't, get pushed out of our comfort zones. [MTTC]

Overall I'm very pleased with the results, a happy heart for me!!! I used all kinds of measurements when cutting my cardstocks and penciling and cutting for the multi-stenciled image focal however I still have some wonky pieces and lines!!!

Do I blame it on left-handedness or tri-focals????? Or late night???? The image focal--even before measuring and cutting into 1" pieces--took time to let the acrylic paints dry between use of stencils and colors...and outlining.

Let's take a look:

Happy heart card using 'inchies' technique=

and the blog ID and design team badges=

link to # 457 for MTTC

*make sure to visit and see how the other design team members used the technique...quite a variety...which pleasantly surprised me! It's great to see the creativity and applications that others use for the same challenge topic

more scanned cropped pics:

Notes:
a. recycled kraft cardstock used for image focal base
b. hearts stencil first used with pink acrylic paint
c. then purple acrylic paint applied to some areas
d. switched stencils to one from a Bible journaling set and used leaf green acrylic paint
e. used a black calligraphy marker tip to make little black dots/flecks scattered around
f. used the same marker to outline the lettering
g. then did the measuring of a grid to get the inch cuts
h. cut a bright blue cardstock with 1.25" wider in order to get 1/4" for margins/aisles
i. after applying small adhesive tape strips to the back of each inch cut, I decided I still wanted some boldness and added the dividing lines
j. My Mind's Eye is the manufacturer line for the gorgeous cardstock peeking around the inchies focal, which is lifted off that surface with lots of little foam squares

My Time To Craft Christmas no 9 Slimline Format Winter Holiday Theme starts 7 May 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart is excited to show this wintery weather aurora borealis type sky colors slimline style Christmas card for MTTCC challenge blog! Isn't this the coolest!??!!!

The silver mirrored type metallic paper and my scanner certainly clashed. Even cell phone camera option turned out rainbow prism reflections in several spots no matter how I oriented the card on top of my printer. I didn't try with the overhead lights off. Probably should have tried that. But to save time, I'm just going to settle for letting your imaginations visualize this card in mostly cobalt blues and silver metallics!!!

APTS challenge blog Anything Goes theme for May 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart has gotten really excited this week with sentiment-focused layouts so for this anything goes month of competition at A Place To Start challenge blog, I decided to make a college graduation card.

I thought about having shapes which would contain just one letter each in the word 'congrats'. But with several alpha sticker sets from Freckled Fawn and Webster Pages, I decided that using the little letter tile stickers would allow me to use more words on the card. So "Class of 2021" and "Yes" get added. Only Webster Pages alphas are used this time...and even for the 'yes' it's WP.

APTS is taking a break this month, May 2021, from having a theme, so it's 'no theme' or Anything Goes in order to participate. The design team have been inspired with a slew of occasions so make sure to use my included APTS blog post link to go over and look at the other projects. Here's mine:

"Class of 2021 congrats" card =

link to APTS May 2021 blog post=

*patterned paper is the last sizeable section from an oldie that I've hoarded because 2 of my favorite colors are pink and purple
*stickers were outlined with marker to make the edges a strong contrast against the busy striped patterned paper; and these are oldies from a color-coordinated 2 sheet set so using 5 put a dent into slimming down what's left to use. Yea!
*base cardstocks in neon pink and mid-blue are either from Astrobrights/Neenah or Pen + Gear
*also the blue is the base--one layer, not folded--
