MLCCB #47 DT project for 1 November 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is excited to share this mixed medium embellished Christmas card! This card is being showcased for Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog that launches today, November 1. The #47 competition ends on December 15.

MLCCB offers Anything Christmas Goes type themed challenges for 6 week sessions 6 times per year. I decided to feature most of the supplies from Cozy Christmas collection by Fancy Pants Designs.

"Deerly Beloved"=

Take a look closely...zoom/enlarge by clicking on the photo...because there is some gold netting/tulle covering 80% of the card!!!

The 3 patterned cardstocks, deer die-cut, and the wood 'button' with yellow amber resin are from the Cozy Christmas collection.

It follows a very old sketch created by Yolanda K=

MLCCB DT Card for 1 September 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart always gets excited to be creative with Christmas cards! This one is no exception! I'd seen a red and pink Christmas card recently and that color combo is what prompted this Anything Goes Christmas make for my DT commitment with Merry Little Christmas Challenge blog. This is my 2nd project since joining the team this summer.

MLCC has competitions for 6 weeks then has a 2 week break before repeating the same times for the next challenge which allows for 6 competitions in a calendar year.

Fancy Pants Designs' Cozy Christmas was a recent new purchase from Peachy Cheap website. The collection is dated 2019. The patterned cardstock sheets are double-side and that's what I've done with the scalloped focal background and the short bottom section. They're reverse sides of each other. The die-cut ephemera floral spray and tinsels are also part of this collection. This is the first time I've ever used tinsel in a card yet it works!

Different stencils were used for the scallop backdrop and for the banner that was stencil painted on the ivory textured specialty paper. Bright pink acrylic paint was applied. When dry I used a small tip black marking pen to add the letters of "Hope" and to outline the banner. Then gold tempera paint was lightly applied (and also to the floral spray). Next I used a red glitter paint pen to outline inside the banner. A silver glitter paint pen then outline the outside perimeter. The silver helps repeat the silver tinsel and the little silver snowflake dazzles (Paper Wishes website). The gold tempera paint subtly reinforces the gold tinsel and the golden yellow tones in the cardstocks.

HOPE for Christmas card=

MLCC blog Theme #45 starts 1 July 2022

***Season's Greetings! I'm excited to be announcing that July 1st is my debut as a design team member of Merry Little Christmas Challenge blog!! YES!! Oh, what joy! In 2022, co-owner Leslie T changed the competitions to last 6 weeks long and to offer 6 per year. That's doable for me.

MLCC Blog makes it even easier for Christmas cardmaking because their challenges are "Anything Christmas Goes". For my 1st DT project, I decided to do a mixed media holly leaves and berries stenciled 3x focus panel. Light green ink was sponged on first. Then red. Then green acrylic paint was applied to most of the stencil.

After it dried, I went back and outlined the holly leaves with 3 different tip-sized black pens. The holly berries were brightened with 4 different red markers. I was trying to achieve variegation over the panel. Then gold glitter tempera paint was dabbed on once most of the card was assembled. The gold thickers and red dot gems were added last.

Merry with holly leaves and berries=

click on the closeup and look for the teeny bits of gold glitter paint scattered around:

Wow! I've used a non-traditional Christmas (or even winter) patterned paper on the left with the traditional red and green holly leaves and berries for the stenciled panel. Thanks to Simple Stories for the stencil sheet and I believe it is American Crafts for the gold thickers (Merry, holly leaves, and holly berries).

My Time To Craft Christmas no 9 Slimline Format Winter Holiday Theme starts 7 May 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart is excited to show this wintery weather aurora borealis type sky colors slimline style Christmas card for MTTCC challenge blog! Isn't this the coolest!??!!!

The silver mirrored type metallic paper and my scanner certainly clashed. Even cell phone camera option turned out rainbow prism reflections in several spots no matter how I oriented the card on top of my printer. I didn't try with the overhead lights off. Probably should have tried that. But to save time, I'm just going to settle for letting your imaginations visualize this card in mostly cobalt blues and silver metallics!!!

My Time To Craft Christmas no 8 Baubles or Ornaments Only Theme for 23 April 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart got excited about creating a scene that simulates a window scene or wall décor with banner/bunting and 3 strands of ornaments coming down. Shell (MTTCC blog owner) wants to see bauble(s)/ornament(s) by themselves. No tree is necessary. She wants the focus to be the bauble. So design your own, use die-cut, use a stamp or digital image, etc. Look in your winter holiday stash and see what you have.

I couldn't resist having a green plaid triangle shape in the background. And I did intentionally set it off-center. Join us at My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog theme #8 that starts 23 April 2021

My Time To Craft Christmas no 7 with Snow People theme Christmas cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart decided to add ragged edging to my papers and cardstocks for my creative flair on this Christmas card. At MTTCC challenge blog, Shell (owner) is asking that #7 challenge has a "snow people" theme. This Snowman and/or Snow lady challenge starts early on Friday, April 9, 2021

My "snow people" are glossy enamel kind of stick-ons that have been in my Christmas embellishments container for a couple of years I'm guessing. It has been way past time to use them. The snowflake patterned paper is computer paper stationery so it's been used on several Christmas cards in 2019 and 2020. The package started with 50 sheets and I've only consumed maybe 5...sigh...Another forgotten dusty supply was stencil sheet from a planner pack kit. Size-wise the snowflake, letters, and numbers worked well for a sentiment kind of accent on this Christmas card.

MTTCC Create a winter wonderland scene Christmas card theme started 26 March 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! I know. I'm just about a week late posting a DT inspiration project for MTTCC--My Time to Craft Christmas. Last Friday morning the #6 challenge began. The theme is create a winter wonderland scene

I had lots of ideas but this evening (April 1) I decided I wanted to try something mixed media inspired. One of my crafting online friends from the other side of the globe showed a card with a background made with melted crayons. And then today I saw a FB posting of a kindergarten teacher showing his students doing a paint squeegee kind of technique as the first stage in a Easter eggs arts and crafts activity. So with these two recent visions, I decided to use some 'paint sticks' that are soft crayon wax. They apply rather thickly like lipstick.

Many months ago after I purchased the 4 color set of paint sticks I tried some different techniques on 3 different colors of cardstock. But I didn't like the results very much. I decided to take the plunge a few hours ago to try again.

I applied some yellow starbursts and green pine tree, bush, and a hilly slope first to the mid-tone blue cardstock. Then I applied some vivid grape Kool-Aid kind of purple. Last came a thick almost the whole surface of blue. Using the side of a scissor blade, I scraped off most of the blue and purple over the tree and bush. That got transferred in a short swiping strokes along the bottom of the scene. It's almost hard to tell with the scanner, but there is some silver glitter paint pen applied on the tree, bush, and then several horizontal bumpy lines across the bottom 1-1.5". Different snowflakes and the sentiment 'dazzles' were added to complete the top panel.

Dark blue glitter decorative tape was used as a border on the base since the card base blue is very close to the crayon blue and background cardstock blue.

So here is my Inky Dark Winter Night Christmas card=

My Time To Craft Christmas no 4 Theme of Christmas Flowers

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh, my artsy-crafty heart thought this theme was going to be easy-peasy! UGH! I know better! :) I shouldn't say or think things will be easy. The washi tape panel came together rather quickly last night, probably in about 10 minutes.

Getting the right balance of a focal, especially for a Christmas flower, to contrast with the 3 different tape patterns/prints ended up being tricky. I've thought my stash of winter holiday embellishments and papers was extensive, especially considering some personal factors (house move from 3 hours away 4.5 years ago, a personal health event 3.5 years ago, and a house fire also 3.5 years ago) that almost wiped out my previous stash. After trying lots of options, I came up with this layered focal.

The focal base is a silver glitter painted snowflake tree ornament I decided to use because of the curved lines I thought looked petal-y. A die-cut accented with a red gem was placed on top.

Foam squares are lifting the panel up allowing space for the wrapped cording.

I'm pleased with the result! Holly and berries, wreaths, trees, and greens are included in the washi tapes so suggestions made by Shell, owner of the MTTCC blog are met.
