MIUCB #64 DT inspiration card for 1 March 2023

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This personal paper-crafting blog post is showcasing a St. Patrick's Day card with distressed paper and cardstock edges for the options theme/technique at Mix It Up (MIUCB). Challenge #64 is Anything Mixed Media Goes with option of technique/stash supply of distressing (distressing with your papers using scissors' blade or a knife or use distressed inks). #64 competition runs March 1-April 15, 2023.

I don't have any distress inks so I used the blade of a heavy pair of shears to distress the edges of the papers and cardstocks used for this St. Patrick's Day card. The base is recycled packaging with roughed up edges. The orange and green papers are specialty textured types that were also roughed up. All edges were inked in black. Two rows of rainbow washi tape were applied next. Then 3 interlocked clovers/shamrocks removed from a garland were adhered with help of glue dots. The wood lasered die-cut of  'love' had previously been colored with an orange marker then topped with a layer of orange glitter paint pen which then was topped again with a layer of gold glitter acrylic paint. With more glue dots, I was able to adhere the wood die-cut over the center shamrock. Easy peasy! :)

MTTC #502 Theme is Rainbows DT inspiration project for 24 February 2023

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! In this posting I'm showcasing a slimline rainbow-themed encouragement card. This is for My Time To Craft challenge blog's #502 that starts on February 24. We'd like you to use at least 5 of the 7 colors in the rainbow spectrum (ROY G. BIV).

A couple of new products mashed with some older stash items resulted in this cheerful colorful card!

"Love comes out of heaven unasked and unsought."

[theme #502 rainbow elements: rainbow striped paper, rainbow dots and lettering on the cut-apart card, rainbow washi tape; ROY G. BIV = red/pinks, orange/peach, yellow, green, blues, and 2 butterflies have purple/violet tones]

Vendors:

1. Simple Stories: for striped cardstock and cut-apart card

2. Pen + Gear: rainbow washi tape

3.  My Sentiments Exactly company: stamp quote

4. the rest are stash items

MTTCC #47 Theme is Elves or Gnomes starting 11 November 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! As I keep saying every 2 weeks, my heart gets excited about crafting Christmas cards! This one is no exception. The layout did bother me a bit but instead of doing a horizontal, my focal image appeared better to me in a vertical slimline form.

My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog's #47 theme requires elves or gnomes. It's okay to use just 1 like I have. Online talented friend Mary Smith (Createful Heart Design) drew this adorable envelope- holding gnome.

Gnome/Gnomie featured focal Christmas card:

Some design notes and vendors about this card:

1. slimline light tan/sand cardstock base is 4" wide x 8.5" high

2. 3 other solid color cardstock scraps are from stash

3. Createful Heart Design/Mary Smith for the gnome digital image; black fine marker borders were added by me; also little white and silver snowflakes (Hot Off The Press) were added by me; colored by me

4. candy cane patterned paper is from The Paper Studio

5. "MC" green foil/metallic dazzle/lettering and medium white and silver snowflake are from Hot Off The Press available at The Paper Wishes website

6. an old white stamp pad was applied with smearing motions in order to give the paper scraps' edges a snowy touch

Ally's Angels #64 DT card for 10 November 2022 launch

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's excited to show a card with some mixed media elements that I made for my November commitment for Ally's Angels Challenge Blog. It is an Anything Goes type challenge.

I initially had thought to do a Thanksgiving or Christmas card but then decided to do a thinking of you style card.

"Just A Note" card=

Take a look at the chevron white and burlap ribbon piece serving as a faux vase/pocket. I took a magenta marker and carefully went over the burlap (plain) 'stripes' so the colors would work better with the patterned papers.

The sticks were longer on the jade glitter flower and butterfly. I just cut them to a size fitting this slimline card. I found these and some lavender ones in a wedding supply section at Dollar Tree about 6 or so months ago. FUN!

I little gold leaf 'dazzle' sticker was applied next to the flower stick/stem. The stamped sentiment needed some help. The stamp is on a wood base and is skewed. I tried to push it around but it's still a bit off and then I used a combination of red and orange inks but they were just too light on the patterned papers. So the magenta marker got used to outline and then red and orange colored pencils were used to fill in "NOTE".

MIUCB DT Project for 1 September 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! It's time for the next challenge at Mix It Up challenge blog! Participants have 6 weeks to enter Sept 1- Oct 15. The theme is Anything Goes with a technique option of smooshing (inks). This is my 2nd design team commitment for MIUCB!!!

I have to admit I haven't done much ink smooshing. It's easier to dab and smear in my opinion. For the backdrop of the stamped sentiment, I applied gray, lime green, pine green, and aqua onto a plastic bowl, spritzed with water, then pressed down the watercolor sketch paper onto the watered ink. This was only 1 application. The sketch paper is thin so I stopped with the one time. I used a circle stencil to trace my shape to fit the lime green scalloped circle that had been in my stash scraps for a long time.

The olive green patterned paper triangle had also been in stash scraps for maybe 2 years!!! The color hues almost fit an analogous color scheme. Another old stash item are the strips of a long border sticker on the right side. The newest items are the butterflies and then the ribbon 'tape' of light blue with tiny white dots.

Butterflies have landed slimline card (about 4 1/8" x 7 1/4")=

2022 May 20 MTTC #482 Theme is Thank You

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! A terrific occasion greeting card to have available is a thank you appreciation card. That's the theme for My Time To Craft challenge blog competition #482. For my design team commitment for MTTC I have created 2 cards. Both have most of their supplies coming from the TGSB April 2022 kit that I put together Easter weekend. My planning and prep intentions were to have enough supplies to make several cards and a possible TN spread for commitments ranging in a 4-6 week span. Already this weekend I've made 5 cards!!!

The planning and prep time for the kit took longer of course than what it typically does for 1 or 2 cards but once it got made, I've been able to get cards made quickly. Yea! Win-win!!

MTTC's #482 starts May 20, 2022 and ends on June 2, 2022. Times for both dates are the same so figure accordingly to wherever you are in the world (6am UK or 12am Central Time USA/Chicago).

Thank You floral with gingham card:

Design and vendor notes worth mentioning are:

A. Embellishments and pink cardstock for the sentiment strip were not in the TGSB April 2022 kit. The stamper for "thank you", floral paper scrap, the blue gingham paper was cut to fit, the ribbon, and the flat base blue cardstock were.

B. Blue gingham paper (Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes website)

C. Papers were edged using a blue ink pad

Green and blue geometric thank you card:

Design notes for card #2:

All items for this card were from my kit made Easter weekend for TGSB April 2022 except for the green cardstock scrap, the little planner strip sticker with the heart (the heart was white so I filled with dark blue marker and then topped with a lighter blue glitter paint pen), and the navy blue glitter decorative tape. I like the analogous color scheme of this card.

Both cards are slimline style: 4" x 7" and each use the sentiment 'thank you' but with different stamps. Fairly simple and easy to put together with not a whole lot of fuss. I wanted the patterned papers/cardstocks to not get covered up. Now to get ready for the mail....

My Time To Craft Christmas Has New Theme Use of Plaid and or Gingham

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Another theme for use of product that my artsy-crafty heart didn't get too anxious over is this new one for My Time To Craft Christmas. Use plaid and/or gingham for your Christmas/winter occasion card. I don't have an overload of either one, so I went treasure hunting through some of my stash and even a box of mostly wintery blues looking for inspiration. I knew I had a deep red and white buffalo check paper and a black and white version. Went with the black and white. Set out some scrap red CS and pulled a new sheet of black CS for the base. Discovered the small dark red and white check gingham style CS that is recycled packaging from 2 or 3 Christmases ago. Pulled out the red painted wood stocking (letter J) and started building the card.

CHD 15 July 2021 no 34 Anything Goes Theme Challenge Month features 2 DT Cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart is super excited to be able to showcase 2 digital images from the CHD Etsy shop! Owner Mary Smith and her husband both contribute to their inventory and have been busy designing new digital images. Mary agreed to let me use the "Snow Gnome" digi created just this week!! It is THAT new! There are so many other challenge blogs having Christmas in July themes that I wanted to hurry and use "Snow Gnome" for the July competition. [CHD July 2021 challenge blog posting link is near the end of this posting. Make sure to click on it and see what the other design team members have created.]

And then several weeks back with summertime in my thoughts, I asked Mary if I could use the "Tropical Bird Rain Forest" digi for this July 15th release posting date. She said yes, so that will be showcased in this post, too. So fun. This vibrant rain forest scene will be perfect for an aunt's birthday whose grandson is in Costa Rica. Andrew and his wife just had their first baby, a girl, just a few weeks ago. Not only is Andrew her oldest grandchild/grandson, his daughter is her first great grandchild! I think she's going to love this image!

APTS Challenge Blog June 2021 Anything Goes with Twist Option to Make Your Own Challenge

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart got overwhelmed with this card! This might be my only 2nd Z-fold type card. And when it is folded, the dimension fits the slimline criteria.

Confession-- the mixed media panel was my big stumbling block. Hours were spent just on that section!!

My favorite panel is the gorgeous tree with the butterflies and hearts floating above. And the marbled patterned cardstock behind has been a favorite (hoarded). Also used on side 2 of the shortest panel.

So my sister-in-law's parents are getting ready to celebrate 50 years by the end of June. This card is for them. On the mixed media panel I stamped 4 hearts to symbolize their children. The larger stenciled gold glitter paint pen filled hearts represent the couple, Bill and Joanna.

What/Who= A Place To Start challenge blog design team inspiration project

When= June 7, 2021 until early July, 2021

Why= I decided to do the twist option: Card/slimline; Anniversary; Stencils & Sequins & Mixed Media

50 Years of Love Card=

Below: my favorite panel

Above: center panel with the mixed media focus= a recycled "Russell Stover" Valentine candy box heart-shaped packaging section was saved and used to stencil/trace the overlapping half hearts; a large plastic sheet of shapes stencils provided the heart shape for the gold glitter painted hearts.

Below: the "Where you go I go" cut-apart card section did not come with the color-filled triangles. I did those trying to match the colors from the fabulous marbleized patterned cardstock.

Above: the APTS June 2021 twist option choices [I did (1) card; (2) anniversary; and (3) mixed media & stencils & sequins]
