why: this post showcases my newest DT commitment project with MTTCC or My Time To Craft Christmas, a challenge blog. #112 is the last in our series for designating a specific supply to use on Christmas cards. Glitter is the required supply item. I've got gold glitter on star stickers, gold glitter dove tree ornament and gold glitter outlined lettering stickers. Plus green glitter on the circle behind the dove!

1. green cardstock panel cut to 4.5" wide x 6.5" tall = Pen + Gear

2. Christmas floral paper/scrapbook size, panel cut to 4" x 6" = Away in a Manger collection by Echo Park

MTTC #500 Theme is Numbers DT inspiration card for 27 January 2023

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's excited this week about 4 inches of snow coming, celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary, and reaching this #500 theme for My Time To Craft!!!

Oo-la-la!!! At MTTC, I've picked the first 2 themes of the year (welcome baby and snowman) as well as 'administratively' designated this #500 theme to be Numbers. I just couldn't imagine us not doing something celebratory for our 500th competition in blogland! 

It happens to have worked out that my/our 27th anniversary is on the 27th of January and that's also our launch date! Wow! Easy-peasy card idea for me! 

This card is ultra feminine but my husband will just place it on the piano so I might as well have something very pretty to look at! :)

MTTCC Theme #51 DT inspiration card about favorite technique starts 6 January 2023

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! On this 1 of 2 personal paper-crafting blogs of mine, today's post is a Rootin'-Tootin' Drum Toting Christmas card for my DT commitment with My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog.

MTTCC Theme #51 is about using your favorite technique to make your Christmas card and then to tell us why it's a favorite in their blog post. The competition goes from January 6-19, 2023. Make sure to use the MTTCC blog link to take you over to the Theme #51 post in order to see what my crew-mates have made.

One of my favorite techniques is painting because I love adding a mixed media process into my projects. I've used some different approaches on this card. The lasered wood veneer of "MC" has a brushed layer of gray acrylic paint and then topped with a brushed layer of silver glitter paint and a top brushed layer of gold glitter paint. For the recycled kraft packaging panel that the lasered wood veneer was adhered to, some gray acrylic paint was smeared in different length strokes from left to right. The metallic glitter paints were applied with either dabs or small lines using the side/edge of the foam brushes.

a. The boy die-cut, the plaid with holly print strip on side, and the small triangle scrap cut on left gold corner are from Bo Bunny. 

b. gold snowflake dazzles/stickers are Paper Wishes website

c. the pinecone triangle scrap is from a Fancy Pants Designs paper pad; the wood button with pink resin center is from Fancy Pants Designs Cozy Christmas collection.

d. gold sheen cardstock started as 6" square and was cut down to a 5" square; Art Skills/Dollar General

e. base thick kraft cardstock cut to 5" x 7" is from Colorbok

f. the kraft cardstock panel that the wood veneer is attached to is recycled packaging

g. the paints and the wood veneer were bought at Dollar Tree

h. I'm using golds, kraft, and grays/silvers out of my January TGSB kit I made on January 1st. Lisa Hidy and Lori Stroup have partnered for a few years with a monthly challenge formula for building a 'work' kit to use. When the month is over, either roll items over into your next month's kit or put them back in your stash. It's been several months since I've built a work kit so I thought I'd try to get 3 maybe 4 Christmas card with this. TGSB links will be listed a bit later in the post. (The Great Stash Bash)

Photo from kit of the mini kit pre-planned for this card: Note: yellow checked gingham, gold glitter dot, tree with deer print were not used. The green plaid's reverse side has the pine branch/pine cone print. The pinkish-red scrap only had a tiny triangle cut from the other end that was used. At the top of the photo's caramel brown with ivory dot print and the gray with white dot print were not used either. 

The whole kit has 12 photos with at least 6-8 cards planned out of it.

16 September 2022 MTTCC #43 Theme is Christmas Food and or Drink

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart always gets excited when I can craft Christmas cards. These cards are for My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog. I have been on this blog's design team for 15 of the 21 months it has been running. The theme for #43 is Christmas food and/or drink.

Competition starts September 16 and ends September 29.

 a. white with red bow patterned cardstock = Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio; I've been trying to bash this 2016 published set in 2022...regrettably I still have sheets to use as I'm typing this draft...sigh...

Hot Cocoa, please! Christmas card

a few design and vendor notes for card #2: the cut-apart card, the little burgundy flag, the mixed food and stocking print and plaid cardstocks are from Bo Bunny; the white diamond-cut glitter cardstock is Pen + Gear; the star cardstock is Lake Life pad from Fancy Pants Designs; the taupe flat card base and matching envelope are from Paper Source; and the "MC" dazzles are from Paper Wishes website.

2 Sept 2022 MTTCC #42 Theme Nontraditional Christmas Colors for DT

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!! Oh, my heart is happy with this Christmas card! Another DT member at MTTCC suggested nontraditional colors so that's what I'm featuring in today's post. I'm also happy because pink and purple are my 2 favorite colors. I'm also happy to be using some old stash supplies for most of the card with a newer painted focal.

MTTCC's #42 theme starts September 2 and ends September 15, 2022. Make sure to find time to craft Christmas themed nontraditional cards before September 15th!

This summer I covered a full sheet of white cardstock with dabbings and swirlings of acrylic paint in 3 colors plus 1 gold tempera paint. This is a small section sized about 2.5" x 3". There will be a closeup photo in order to detect some of the gold glitter paint. In the center of the large lavender foam snowflake is some bright pink glitter glue. 

This is Peace and Joy Christmas card in nontraditional colors=

No credits per se because it's almost all old inventory in my stash. The foam snowflakes were purchased in 5 different foam colors set a long time ago. Both alpha lettering stickers are old with Peace in a hammered silver and Joy in dark navy glitter. There is a strip of a gray 'metal' specialty paper on the left. The mixed media element has been mounted on light pink cardstock with foam tape then onto white cardstock and another layer of foam tape in order to lift it for depth and shadow. The wide purple glitter decorative tape strip was given a banner fishtail. Everything is on a dark grape marbleized thin cardstock when was matted onto pink cardstock. Voila! 

Card #2 is Victorian Hope Christmas card=

Credits: (1) acorn print cardstock is from Lake Life paper pad by Renne Looney/Fancy Pants Designs; (2) the color-me-lace topper and scalloped button die-cut are from Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes website; and (3) others are stash items.

Lots of blue, odd greens, pink, gray/silver, and a bit of orchid purple

Is this too weird? Or too mystical? Definitely creative and out-of-the-ordinary Christmas card.

19 August 2022 MTTCC #41 Theme is Holly Leaves and Berries DT projects

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is happy to show off my Christmas cards made for this fortnight's design team commitment at My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog! Theme #41 is Holly Leaves and Berries (Christmas cards) for August 19-September 1, 2022. 

Card #1 has the 2nd half of a multiple step stenciled panel of holly leaves and berries. The 6" square stencil is from Simple Stories. The key die-cut which so happens to have plaid in the top area that just about matches perfectly with the scrap I used behind it, is from Bo Bunny. The wood label shaped die-cut is from a multi-shaped pack bought at Dollar General that has been colored red, then had red glitter paint pen applied over that with a layer of gold stamp pad ink on top then some white stamp pad ink around the edges! Message and holly leaves with berries were then applied last. Gold glitter tempera paint was applied with my pinky finger over the 'metal' portion of the key die-cut. Three little square gold gems are the last little accent touch.

2 more design notes about Card #1= the green flat cardstock base with a matching envelope are from Darice; I think the plaid paper is The Paper Studio product.

Card #2= Remember This Moment Christmas card

Some design notes and vendors to highlight for Card #2=

1. the acrylic frame is from KI Memories

2. the border stickers are from an old sheet bought from Current Card catalog

3. the small label/tag is from Bo Bunny

4. the green outlined in gold metallic foil dazzles are from Paper Wishes website

5. kraft cardstock base, reddish-orange with gold glitter texture specialty paper, green glitter bow, green gems and green glitter cardstock scrap came from stash boxes

This is a quirky unexpected mix that started with the holly leaves and berries border sticker and label/tag followed by wanting to use the acrylic overlay frame. The dimensions are 5" x 7".

MTTC #487 Theme is Ocean/Seaside starting 29 July 2022

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is happy to share some easy ocean seaside themed cards using wood die-cuts from Dollar Tree!!! YES! I will be showing 1 card with a sailboat and another with a seahorse. 

MTTC's #487 theme has a bit of flex for craft artisans. It can be beachside or it can be underwater or on the water. Ocean or Sea-worthy. July 29-August 11, 2022 with start and end times on these dates at 12am CT/Chicago or 6am UK.

Design Inspiration Project #1 features a wood sailboat colored and glitter painted=

I like the boat being in its faux water setting (blue glitter decorative tape and the muted green with white flecks cardstock)!!!!

Some of the credits: (1) sailboat wood die-cut = Dollar Tree; (2) camping/canoe symbols print cardstock = Lake Life paper pad; (3) rust print, dots, muted green with tiny white flecks cardstocks and the floral die-cut ephemera along with the white card base = Simple Stories card kit; blue glitter decorative and the great adventure sticker are from my stash.

These were fun to make!
