MTTC #495 Challenge starts 18 November 2022 and Theme is Transportation

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's excited for showing a cute easy to make notecard as my DT inspiration card for My Time To Craft Challenge blog's Theme #495 about transportation.

I thought this would be a flexible 2 season kind of topic for our participants to create about. Americans can have coming home for Thanksgiving and everyone can have cars or trucks hauling gifts, trees, etc. for the Christmas holiday season.

The DT inspiration card fits into an autumn harvest kind of vibe. My siblings are 2 different directions and distances from me and our mom, who only lives 5-6 miles from Joe and I. My brother is about 2.5-3 hours away and our sister is 12+ hours and 4 states away. The week of Thanksgiving, my sister is planning on being up here and hopefully my brother's crew can come once or twice. I've made another notecard for my sister, so this one will go to my 'little' brother!

See ya soon notecard=

Some design and vendor notes:

a. the large die-cut is Echo Park's Farmers Market Ephemera (2021)

b. it was outlined using a black marker and backed with a charcoal gray textured specialty paper

c. the rust/muted pink tone cardstock base (flat) is from Darice

d. the mid-gray with white x print cardstock strip scrap is from Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio that I've been trying to bash this year. I don't think I'm going to make it but I've reduced the starting number of sheets by half, so that's a very good thing.

e. red glitter alpha stickers, and small red glitter heart sticker are stash items.

2022 August 26 MTTC Theme #489 Fantasy Whimsical Charm

Greetings from Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Today's post features MTTC Theme #489--

Fantasy Whimsical Charm

for August 26-September 8, 2022.

Competition start time and end time are the same for dates shown of 12 am CT/Chicago or 6am UK. (Adjust to wherever you are in the world.)

I was a bit stumped at first when this theme was suggested by several DT members. My brainstorming results were mermaids, trolls, gnomes, elves, fairies, Alice and Wonderland, etc. But I decided to go with whimsy charm. Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine" had elements that would work perfectly for 2 cards as my DT commitments.

Inspiration card #1:

Some credits are:

(1) Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine" = sentiment, background panel, rainbow, plaid heart, bird, flower row, plaid border, mouse, and the folded white card base; (2) pink with little white x print cardstock scrap = Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio; and (3) a teeny bit of yellow scrap to make the little smiling sun came from my stash. The word sunshine was colored bright yellow in order to give the illusion of sunshine and provide more yellow color on the card.

Inspiration card #2:

Some credits for card #2: the pink with little white x print scrap and the pink with green flowers scrap = Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio; the flower, sentiment banner, bird, and butterfly die-cuts are from the Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine"; the green and white chevron print paper scrap = The Paper Studio; the black and silver glitter decorative tape and green cardstock are from my stash.

22 July 2022 MTTCC #39 Cutesy Christmas Theme DT cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm just really enjoying creating Christmas cards this year! Haven't been keeping track but I guess I need to start addressing envelopes when I've got a few minutes while supper bakes or waiting for ink or paint to dry on my crafting table! This posting features my design team commitments for My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog. #39 theme is about Cutesy Christmas. What do you think is cute? charming? quirky? Brings a smile to your face?

MTTCC's #39 competition runs from July 22, 2022 to August 4, 2022. Make sure to find time to craft Christmas with us!

#1= Merry Christmas to Santa and the pets!

My first card has these cutesy enamel stickers that I'm sure I used for a card or two last year and I've still have a few more to use before I've bashed the sheet. I've used some non-traditional patterned cardstocks that are from my paper pad I'm trying to bash this year (Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio). I've paired it with a gray textured paper for the scalloped focal background and the green cardstock top-folded base (4.5" x 5.5"). Black inking was used to keep everything from being too intense. Hot Off The Press Dazzles are the maker for the red hologram "MC".

AND

#2= Polar Bear Wish Christmas card

A few design and vendor notes: the enamel polar bear is from the same sheet as those used in card #1; the polar bear themed print paper is from a old paper pad by Martha Stewart. The wish die-cut tag is textured cardstock that I added the blue inked edging. Then I used a lighter blue glitter paint pen to create a spot that looked like the iceberg was cracking! The jewels and ribbon decorative tape are from my stash. The navy blue card mat is DCWV, I think. This made a cutesy wintery themed Christmas card!

2022 July 1 MTTC #485 Theme of Vegetables

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! Doesn't summertime make you think of vegetable gardens? Well, it used to for me, especially growing up. My mom kept lots of summer days busy with canning and freezing. Sitting on the back porch steps snapping beans, husking corn, and popping pea pods were part of that. This July 1st at My Time To Craft challenge blog, we want you to create with the theme of vegetable(s). It can be a mix of them or you can focus on a specific type.

For my DT commitment, my mom, ever supportive, found this photo image of a crafter's counterfeit vegetables in an issue of Country Woman. She thought I should have the page to use! And I have! Whoever the artisan was, he/she took old spindles, painted them, and then add artificial greens for the tops. The creamy white ones could be horseradish. The orange are definitely the carrots. And the reddish-purple could be beets or turnips, maybe. I thought it was cleverly cute! I also like the white wicker basket that they are in.

A Garden Variety Birthday card=

For my 2nd project for my DT commitment, I used rub-on transfers for the vegetables/fungi (mushrooms, beets, and carrots) and the mason jar. Stampin' up for the old "HB" stamp; the Queen Anne's Lace and green with white marks cardstocks are both from the Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio that I'm trying to bash in 2022. Gray scrap and base black cardstocks are from stash. Black stamp pad ink was used on paper edges.

It was made in 2016 but I didn't buy it until late 2017 or early 2018. On January 23, 2022 I had 63 sheets remaining and only 3 scraps. I'm down to 36 sheets with lots of scraps in different sizes!!! There are at least 3 projects made that I can't show yet that are part of what consisted between 63 down to 36. Half of a year to go! and just under half of the original start count to finish!!!!

Pretty in Pink Encouragement Cards 3 and 4 of planned 4

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh my! We have had cooler temps today, some rain, power outage including landline phone, and some needed rest! The power was out for about 1.5 hours and phone was out for about 3 hours. That was Sunday when I was trying to work on taking 1 sheet and creating 4 cards with it. CCMWF had a weekend challenge to use a 6"square patterned cardstock with 2 cut lines on angles so that the 4 sections can be used on 4 cards.

In typical creative Becca fashion, I had to tweak this a bit. I have a paper pad I'm trying to bash this year however it is not sized at 6" square but more like 4.5"x 6.5". I still did the 2 angled cuts but didn't trim as much off as what the guidelines were given at CCMWF. I'm also not using a 6" square card base either. :)

Let's take a look at the 2 encouragement cards that I got finished today, Monday May 16. [There are 2 that were completed on Sunday afternoon.] The small focal cards are from "Promises From God --For Women" made by Christian Art Gifts. Patterned cardstock angled cuts are from Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio. Embellishments are from my stash. Even the ribbon was Becca-ified. It was white and I 'tie-dyed' it by applying 4 different markers on it: 2 shades of pink/magenta, teal green, and gray.

Layouts are almost the same. The shapes/angles of the floral patterned cardstock are different and the embellishments aren't quite the same. The largest pink cardstock is the base. More pinks were used for Cards 3 and 4. And I only used snippets of remaining ribbon from Cards 1 and 2. Vertical format instead of horizontal was another change today.  Thick foam adhesive tape under the Bible promise cards is causing some gray shadow from the scanning process.

And aren't they pretty in pink?!! So sweet!

2022 MTTC April 8 #479 Springtime Insects Theme DT card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! The 2 featured cards I've made are showing butterflies, my favorite insects! I've heard the quote many times calling butterflies as fluttering flowers or flying flowers! The complexity of color and design in their wings and how graceful they look has always fascinated me. So when as a DT member I learned about this theme, I knew I had many to choose from out of my stash.

My Time To Craft challenge blog #479 theme is Springtime Insects.

Released on April 8, 2022 at 12am CST/6am UK and will be open for participants until April 21, 2022 at 12am CST/6am UK.

link for #479http://mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/2022/04/mttc-479-theme-is-springtime-insects.html

Card #1= Pink and Black It's a Beautiful Life Birthday card

Card #1 design notes:

1. base is black, top-folded, 4.25" wide x 5.5" high, Pen + Gear

2. pink background panel, Astrobrights/Neenah

3. pink and white stripe panel, pink with white Xs, and the white with pink scallops, Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio (this is my 2022 selected papers to bash this year; read earlier posts made in late January and early February about this)

4. the pink tonal floral strip and the featured sentiment journal card that was trimmed down are from My Mind's Eye, a collection I bought several years ago

5. embellishments: pale pink crystal gem, message stamp, black ink pad, and the corrugated backed butterfly are all stash items; I took off the corrugated butterfly layer and stamped it black in order to disguise the kraft color since this card also fits for a Pink and Black card swap challenge that only allowed white as an additional neutral

Card #2: Hello and Happy Birthday card=

Isn't this lovely! I'm glad I kept the color combination simplified. When I started assembling items to make this, I thought I wanted the base to be a pale peach/blush pink or to go to a bold orange but the chocolate brown won the dilemma!

Design notes for Card #2=

1. brown cardstock base is about 6" wide and 4.25" high;

2. the pale green and white floral cardstock; Mint Berry pack from The Paper Studio

3. the olive green and crinkled copper/bronze specialty paper are scraps; cut as 2" squares

4. the white hello is a 'dazzle' from Paper Wishes website

5. the butterflies, amber heart crystal gems, sentiment stamp, black ink pad; stash items

6. an aqua/teal blue marker was used to add outline contrast to the thin font lines of the stamp used to make 'happy birthday'

ATC--"What's buzzing?"

A few design notes about the ATC/artist trading card:

1. typical ATC size of 2.5" x 3.5"; thick kraft cardstock for base

2. the white with spring green Moroccan tile patterned paper is very old Colorbok bold print photo mat paper pad

3. the green and gold chevron stripe 'tag'--what's shown is only about half; the flower and bee are stash item embellishments; I just got a bunch of tag sets and I've already forgotten who the vendor is on this...sorry

2022 MTTC March 25 #478 Theme of Using Lots of Layers min of 3

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart and spirit didn't get too excited as I started this project. I'm thinking like oh lots of layers! I do that all the time! Easy peasy! It wasn't until I started building the color palette of rich burgundy, magentas, and vibrant purples and that use of flower petal specialty paper that I got energized for my first inspiration project. Then the layered floral and insect stickers became the perfect accents!

My Time To Craft challenge blog (MTTC) has a new competition running from March 25 to April 7, 2022 [#478] with a theme/format requirement of using 3 or more layers on your paper crafted project. I like to do 'messy' layers. I can do structured layers that use a matting kind of framed look, however I really enjoy stretching my brain cells to arrange and rearrange until I get a look that is pleasing to my eyes. My fellow DT crew members have done their tags or cards in the other structured style. So make sure to see their projects on the MTTC posting.

MTTC design team inspiration project #1:

Springtime Birthday card= with 5 layers of cardstock or patterned papers & 1-2 layers of embellishments=

Card #2= To our Anchor--hb or happy birthday card for DT inspiration (7 paper layers!!!)

************

Card #2 Design notes:

A. the aqua blue and black are specialty papers; so in person there is some interesting texture and the black also has ragged edging that I put at the bottom edge

B. the anchor is a free coloring page image that was colored with colored pencils and fussy cut

C. the triangle shaped red and white stripe scrap is from the Mint Berry paper pad that I'm trying to bash this year; also the red with white dot strip

D. the grayish-black lettering alphas are from Freckled Fawn; hb which is code for happy birthday alphas and silver glitter star are from Crafter's Choice

2.  100 Pattern Papers Challenge FB group; I didn't start the year with 100 patterned papers pulled from my stash to work with this year but the Mint Berry paper pad that had 63 out of 80 remaining sheets. I've been stalled at having 51 sheets left but lots of scraps...I'm trying bit by bit!

*****************************

BONUS CARD #3 was able to be made (lots of family birthdays and anniversaries in February to early April)

To our family's 'solid brick', the guy who works all hours and crazy shifts (hence the clock die-cut), Happy Birthday "B"=

There are 7 layers of paper or cardstock: starting with the dark brown, yellow, green, dark red, light beige, orange, and the B/brick image paper. The khaki kraft brown in the background is a sheet used to block the printer's scanner light.

A combination of alpha tiles to give a graffiti art wall kind of extension look next to the B are from Webster Pages (green) and Freckled Fawn (golden yellow). The B with the brick wall image was a free coloring page found on the internet. The chipboard kind of die-cut stick-ons have been in my stash for a long time.

Using HQCB Fan Group Freebie Image for Thinking Of You Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm doing a crossover promotional posting today to promote my new challenge blog Heart's Quest Challenge Blog and the Heart's Quest Challenge Fans group in Facebook.

Over a week ago, I posted 2 freebie images in the Fans group. I printed out 2 different sizes for the single heart and 1 size of the large double hearts with key which I colored last weekend. I posted a pic in the fans group of those colored images earlier today and I've just finished making a flat slimline Thinking of You with the larger size single heart card.

Chromatic Grid Heart=

This will be shared in the fans group and in a HQCB posting.

I will also share a photo in the FB group "100 Patterned Papers" because of the pink and white patterned paper is from Mint Berry by The Paper Studio that I'm trying to bash this year. I started in mid-January with 63+ sheets left out of the original 80 and I'm down to 50+ sheets.

Arrow Many Hearts and Stripes Card made 1 Feb 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh this past fun week for re-sparking my creative mojo has carried over! This arrow embellished card was made last night and scanned this morning. I've been pushing snow away from our back door and clearing a path off the deck to both east and west sides to help our little dog have a place to do his business. And I've been doing that every 2 hours since 10 pm!!! I haven't checked the news yet or taken a yardstick out there but we've gotten more already than what was forecasted. According to radar maps, we thought we were maybe 10-25 miles north of the 'line' between predicted amounts of snowfall, but clearly we're on the higher amount. Oh my! No pics taken yet of that.

But here is the new entry for my bashing the paper pad called Mint Berry produced by The Paper Studio in 2016. I didn't purchase this stack of 20 designs (x4 = 80 sheets at 4.25" x 6.25") until late 2017 or early 2018. About Jan 23 or so I decided to make this my focus set of patterned cardstock/paper to get bashed for 2022. 63 full sheets + 3 scraps of different sizes was my starting point out of the original 80. I'm not sure on the current count. Maybe 59 or 58....

Arrow Many Hearts and Stripes Valentine card=

Wow! I changed my size and format for this one just to keep the creativity going. A wide slimline about 4" wide for the light gray cardstock base and about 7" tall. The pink paper on the right is a folded insert for the interior that has a little snippet of the same green and white floral print cardstock as the front.

More notes:

A. bright pink and white baker's twine for holding the interior insert paper

B. red metallic foil with vellum diagonal stripe decorative tape (forget the company; I've had it for over a year)

C. the red glitter covered wood arrow die-cut was bought at Dollar Tree yesterday. That store's last package. The pack has 10 different Valentine theme wood cut-outs like pink hearts, natural wood hearts, etc.

D. other embellishments from my stash are the mauve/pink jumbo dots, red heart gems, and the white foam heart stickers

E. "Love" stamp was part of a Sum More Fun set purchased about a year ago before they closed

F. dark red cardstock was purchased yesterday at Dollar Tree; the Crafter's Choice line of craft products has bundled a bunch of different cardstock scraps together that are available for $1.25. It was the first time I've found these in the store closest to us. I shouldn't have bought but it was too irresistible not to buy 2 packs! :) Some unusual tones that I've sorted out. Neutrals went into 1 bag and all others went in another. This dark red was not altered in size and was the perfect size background for the light gray cardstock base and then I went to my scraps and full sheets left of Mint Berry to make my pick for the center panel...
