NEW DT commitment for THICC and #122

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Well, I did a thing. There have been several challenge blogs with design team calls and I've been accepted by Marlene to help out The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenges blog. YEA! Crazy yea! THICC challenges are every 2 weeks with Anything Goes Christmas for its theme. Competition starts August 30 and will go for 13 days.

Within the past month, I purchased Fancy Pants Designs collection called Cozy Christmas. The majority of card product is from that kit: red & black plaid paper, the Nordic sweater print paper, the mailbox die-cut, and the 2 wood with black buttons.

Here's the Christmas Mail card=

The washi tapes are from my stash box. Black marker for outlining. White flat 5" x 7" card base with a matching envelope are from Paper Source.

A sketch was used for this card and it was tweaked a bit. The sketch was shared by a Facebook group, Christian Card Making Women's Fellowship.

The Merry Christmas (deer) washi page substitutes for the band going across the middle. The circle space is replaced by the mailbox die-cut. One 3" x 3.5" rectangle was cut instead of having 2 separate pieces and then I used the black and white striped washi tape to frame and separate.

This fairly flat card will save on postage, however it is not short of style or color and print coordination!

THICC posting= I'll be teaching possibly when Marlene posts the new challenge so for now I'll use the link for the challenge that just closed......

2022 August 26 MTTC Theme #489 Fantasy Whimsical Charm

Greetings from Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Today's post features MTTC Theme #489--

Fantasy Whimsical Charm

for August 26-September 8, 2022.

Competition start time and end time are the same for dates shown of 12 am CT/Chicago or 6am UK. (Adjust to wherever you are in the world.)

I was a bit stumped at first when this theme was suggested by several DT members. My brainstorming results were mermaids, trolls, gnomes, elves, fairies, Alice and Wonderland, etc. But I decided to go with whimsy charm. Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine" had elements that would work perfectly for 2 cards as my DT commitments.

Inspiration card #1:

Some credits are:

(1) Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine" = sentiment, background panel, rainbow, plaid heart, bird, flower row, plaid border, mouse, and the folded white card base; (2) pink with little white x print cardstock scrap = Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio; and (3) a teeny bit of yellow scrap to make the little smiling sun came from my stash. The word sunshine was colored bright yellow in order to give the illusion of sunshine and provide more yellow color on the card.

Inspiration card #2:

Some credits for card #2: the pink with little white x print scrap and the pink with green flowers scrap = Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio; the flower, sentiment banner, bird, and butterfly die-cuts are from the Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine"; the green and white chevron print paper scrap = The Paper Studio; the black and silver glitter decorative tape and green cardstock are from my stash.

19 August 2022 MTTCC #41 Theme is Holly Leaves and Berries DT projects

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is happy to show off my Christmas cards made for this fortnight's design team commitment at My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog! Theme #41 is Holly Leaves and Berries (Christmas cards) for August 19-September 1, 2022.

Card #1 has the 2nd half of a multiple step stenciled panel of holly leaves and berries. The 6" square stencil is from Simple Stories. The key die-cut which so happens to have plaid in the top area that just about matches perfectly with the scrap I used behind it, is from Bo Bunny. The wood label shaped die-cut is from a multi-shaped pack bought at Dollar General that has been colored red, then had red glitter paint pen applied over that with a layer of gold stamp pad ink on top then some white stamp pad ink around the edges! Message and holly leaves with berries were then applied last. Gold glitter tempera paint was applied with my pinky finger over the 'metal' portion of the key die-cut. Three little square gold gems are the last little accent touch.

Holly Jolly Wishes Christmas card=

2 more design notes about Card #1= the green flat cardstock base with a matching envelope are from Darice; I think the plaid paper is The Paper Studio product.

Card #2= Remember This Moment Christmas card

Some design notes and vendors to highlight for Card #2=

1. the acrylic frame is from KI Memories

2. the border stickers are from an old sheet bought from Current Card catalog

3. the small label/tag is from Bo Bunny

4. the green outlined in gold metallic foil dazzles are from Paper Wishes website

5. kraft cardstock base, reddish-orange with gold glitter texture specialty paper, green glitter bow, green gems and green glitter cardstock scrap came from stash boxes

This is a quirky unexpected mix that started with the holly leaves and berries border sticker and label/tag followed by wanting to use the acrylic overlay frame. The dimensions are 5" x 7".

July ATCs for Swap Group

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! The card crafting club, For The Love of Cards, through Facebook has moved onto its August events, so I'm sharing what I made in July 2022 with you.

Alphabet Letter C

Beach/Tropical life

Red Rubber Stamp

All in Artist Trading Card size. The copper and the beach  were a tad over due to size of accents.

Top to Bottom: Beach Life, Red Rubber, Letter C things

Coppery "Hi" dazzle (Paper Wishes website); copper sequins, copper Chrysanthemum, and a layered flourish die-cut stick-on with a coppery bronze flower all arranged onto mirrored foil and then on a kraft cardstock base. ( c is also for cursive; curves; circles; ....)

Another mirrored foil and kraft cardstock base and backdrop with blue scrap strips to simulate/faux water, tropical layered parrot stick-on, and a wood die-cut palm tree that's been painted brown on the trunk and green marker with a top layer of green glitter paint pen to add more shimmer. Definitely a tropical island beach scene!

Teal cardstock for a different base and then easy make with an old sentiment red rubber stamp and 3 different stickers. The stamp is designed with the top and bottom swirled borders. Easy peasy.

Ally's Angels Challenge Blog 10 August 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart and soul are very excited to share that this summer I agreed to be on another challenge blog's design team plus be the new co-owner!!! Ally's Angels was started by Alessandra a few years ago and  this challenge will be her last as owner. Leslie Turner agreed to take over after Alessandra/Ally decided to step out. Leslie asked me to act as co-owner but this is mostly as a safeguard and to also be on the DT. We hope Ally will be able to create a project now and again. A couple of her DT members are staying on: Mariann, Jolanda, and Veronique. Challenges are once per month and Anything Goes. Pretty great, right?!!!

Several times this summer I've been wanting to play around with an idea that I see in scrapbook challenges about bashing a sheet or two of stickers on 1 layout. With the size of a card, I used 3 different partial sheets of stickers with same color tones along with 3 different colors of solid cardstock scraps. The butterflies sheet is now bashed! What do you think of "Sweet Beauty"?

Sweet Beauty friendship card=

It was a great feeling to bash my stash of some scraps and stickers!!! I really like how the layout is balanced by the center layered sentiment sticker and the opposite corner resin circles. The butterflies and stars make good surrounding borders. The colors coordinate very well with each other.

5 August 2022 MTTCC #40 Theme of Winter Holiday Decorations for Christmas cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My creative heart always gets excited to craft Christmas cards! And this #40 theme for MTTCC was no exception! Winter Holiday Decorations-yes! The team has already had some specific holiday item themes like candles/lanterns, wreaths, stockings, snow globes, and trees for 2022. Now participants can choose whichever ones they want to show. YEA!

Competition starts August 5 and ends August 18, 2022.

Card #1: Inside or Outside Christmas Wreath and Ornament card=

design notes and vendors: plaid and tree/deer print cardstocks, wreath and ornament die-cut ephemera and the little label "Peace on Earth" are from Pink Paislee's Together for Christmas collection; barn siding cardstock is from Lake Life paper pad by Fancy Pants Designs; dark red 5" x 7" folded card and matching envelope are from Paper Source website; gems, snowflake stickers and glitter decorative tapes, inks, and kraft brown paper are stash items

*a different look but using scraps is a very good thing! and I like the ornament hanging inside the center of the wreath!

Card #2: Inside or Outside Joy Wreath Sign with Tree and Gift Box card=

design notes and vendors: What a contrast this one is! Visually the color palette is soothing yet refreshing for the Christmas holidays! White folded base card with matching envelope are A2 size; gray with white Xs print cardstock is from the Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio (this paper pad is my 2022 goal to bash; I've still have 35 sheets to go that are 4.5" x 6.5"); the tonal blue check print cardstock is from the Lake Life paper pad from Fancy Pants Designs; the different silver metallic foil snowflake dazzles are from Paper Wishes website; die-cuts are upcycled gift tags!!! OUAT debuts with Children's Book Prompt Dear Zoo for August 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Craft artisan blogger extraordinaire Deanne announced in July 2022 that on August 1st her new challenge blog called Once Upon A Time would start. Woo-hoo!! Her premise is to have a children's book cover photo inspiration and the story be the inspiration(s) for crafters to interpret and create a project.

I asked if I could be on her design team and she said 'yes'!! YEA!!! I'm so excited!

Here's my project=

Credits: owl and bear clip art images (EduClips); I will be using the card in the classroom for reading and writing activities!!!; colored pencils; black fine point marker pen; planner sticker; layered die-cut sunflower 'stick-on'; red glitter alphas; red scrap paper; white with thin rectangular openings is recycled/upcycled packaging!!!!; kraft paper for backdrop and yellow cardstock for base; with the last back layer of kraft--just to block the printer scanner light...

I've tweaked the placements but I think there are enough nods to the front cover to see some similarities. In the classroom the last few years I've used the forest/woodland as my environment decoration theme. With this mimicked card cover, I can get double duty as classroom theme decoration item and to use as either an ELA activity after reading "Dear Zoo". Besides a zoo, what other place could you use as the setting for a similar book to Mr. Campbell's "Dear Zoo"?

And here's the book cover=

this is 1 of 2 design team member badges Deanne's created for her crew=

***With about 2 weeks before the next school year officially starts for Midwest/Illinois, I've had 4 job offers in the past 4 days!!!! I've been job searching and applying since February, but this old girl is needed because of teacher shortages! :) I've been flattered over and over again which has been very good for uplifting my spirits. It's scary to only have 2 weeks to get a classroom organized and decorated but it's also super exciting! I have 2 endorsements areas and a short-term approval in a different subject area and the offers are split with 2 for an endorsement area of Early Childhood/primary and the other 2 are for the approval in JH science!!! :) Stay tuned for which one I pick!!!!
