2022 MTTC Feb 25 #476 Theme Technique of Embossing

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My creative spirit panicked with this theme! I didn't pick it. Someone else on the DT crew at MTTC did, so I've tried to do my best with it. And I have 2 different styles of dry embossing to show that also are for different occasions, birthday and Christmas.

My Time To Craft challenge blog's #476 competition has the theme to do/use technique of embossing. There is dry embossing done by textural pressure either with an embossing folder or old-fashioned textural rubbing. The other technique involves wet/heat applying powders to make sentiments shine and add a teeny bit of height. The competition will last about 13 days: Feb 25-March 10

Card #1= Cute Mixed Media Feature Panel Birthday card=

A few design notes about Card #1:

1. light gray CS for base; purple CS for background with additional different sizes of scraps used for other panels (with the 2 pink and whites being from the Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio)

2. pink CS textured rubbed over a sheet of crystal heart-shaped gems using white, pink, blue, and purple colored pencils; bright deep pink glitter glue was applied in a random curved lines on top of the textural rubbings

3. sentiment stamp, black ink pad, stickers and acrylic disc are all from my stash

Card #2= Embossed Trees Christmas Greetings card=

full finished card #2=

A few design notes for Card #2:

1. upcycled commercial card sent by an organization desiring a donation that had embossed snow-covered trees; edges cut in irregular lines for interest and inked in metallic gold ink

2. textural specialty paper in light gray with French blue/periwinkle hues; received in a scraps/off-cuts bag

3. gray cardstock with an embossed vertical line was also from the same scraps/off-cuts bag; both were edged with metallic gold ink

4. black cardstock also used for off-setting/doubling the base; embellishments are from my stash

18 February 2022 MTTCC Blog #28 Nativity Christmas Theme Card for DT

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This posting is to share my design team inspiration card for the February 18, 2022 challenge #28 for My Time To Craft Christmas blog. The theme is Nativity

Echo Park's Away in the Manger collection gets the credit for this card. I've used many of its element stickers and the focal panel section from it's Nativity cardstock side A. Blue pearl gems, navy blue with silver trim ribbon are additional accents. Yellow and mid-blue cardstocks are from Pen + Gear. Black ink edges the yellow CS. The mid-blue is the oversized card base (folded 8.5" x 11" sheet). Damask patterned paper from The Paper Studio is just background filler to block out printer scanner light.

Christ the Savior Is Born Christmas card= this flat card has a full manger scene minus some shepherds

MTTCC's #28 theme is Nativity; Christmas cards only

CARD #2 for MTTCC (DT is a small group currently, so I made a 2nd card)= this one is simpler

Notes:

1. red ink was applied only to the outer edge of the flat card base

2. taupe flat card and matching envelope (The Paper Source website)

3. cut-apart panel is from Echo Park's Away in the Manger collection; other elements of that collection were used for card 1

4. a small section of white glitter cardstock (Pen + Gear) used to outline the top left corner

5. the yellow-cream cardstock mat has been in stash several years; the yellow-green scrap is a newer purchase found within a package of scraps/off-cuts packaged by Crafter's Choice

6. red heart crystal gems, red heart sticker, and white glitter snowflake sticker (stash supply)

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This post challenge will start before Valentine's Day however it needn't be a Valentine's card. Think anniversary, birthday, and friendship, too. 2022 Feb 4 #27 MTTCC blog DT card CAS Christmas Theme

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm thrilled to be back on the My Time To Craft Christmas blog design team! And that is not all!!! ....

OK! Lots going on today in blog world for me and for MTTC and MTTCC. The owner of these 2 challenge blogs, Shell, is taking a crafting and blogging break and has agreed for me to be her temporary manager. I want the Christmas challenge blog to return/keep its 2 week competition format. I think it's important to have variety even with the length of challenge time periods for those that are Christmas/winter holiday greeting cards. The February 4, 2022 theme for #27 is CAS Christmas. CAS is clean and simple.

Here's my Happy Holidays Snowflakes card:

My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog #27 posting link=

https://mytimetocraftchristmas.blogspot.com/2022/02/mttcc-27-clean-and-simple-format-theme.html

design notes=

1. white A2 card base

2. navy blue cardstock cut about 1/4" larger than the stamped panel; tilted a bit to add visual interest for the CAS theme

3. light blue cardstock was stenciled/stamped with navy blue inked stamp pad, then black, and then finally gold as top/final ink; snowflakes stencil from Simple Stories (about 6" square for stencil so the panel was measured and cut from within that)

4. ribbon, gems, foam snowflake, and the die-cut sentiment (a very old stash item)

5. wintery colors, snowflakes, and happy holidays are elements for keeping this a Christmas card with a Clean and simple format theme

Arrow Many Hearts and Stripes Card made 1 Feb 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh this past fun week for re-sparking my creative mojo has carried over! This arrow embellished card was made last night and scanned this morning. I've been pushing snow away from our back door and clearing a path off the deck to both east and west sides to help our little dog have a place to do his business. And I've been doing that every 2 hours since 10 pm!!! I haven't checked the news yet or taken a yardstick out there but we've gotten more already than what was forecasted. According to radar maps, we thought we were maybe 10-25 miles north of the 'line' between predicted amounts of snowfall, but clearly we're on the higher amount. Oh my! No pics taken yet of that.

But here is the new entry for my bashing the paper pad called Mint Berry produced by The Paper Studio in 2016. I didn't purchase this stack of 20 designs (x4 = 80 sheets at 4.25" x 6.25") until late 2017 or early 2018. About Jan 23 or so I decided to make this my focus set of patterned cardstock/paper to get bashed for 2022. 63 full sheets + 3 scraps of different sizes was my starting point out of the original 80. I'm not sure on the current count. Maybe 59 or 58....

Arrow Many Hearts and Stripes Valentine card=

Wow! I changed my size and format for this one just to keep the creativity going. A wide slimline about 4" wide for the light gray cardstock base and about 7" tall. The pink paper on the right is a folded insert for the interior that has a little snippet of the same green and white floral print cardstock as the front.

More notes:

A. bright pink and white baker's twine for holding the interior insert paper

B. red metallic foil with vellum diagonal stripe decorative tape (forget the company; I've had it for over a year)

C. the red glitter covered wood arrow die-cut was bought at Dollar Tree yesterday. That store's last package. The pack has 10 different Valentine theme wood cut-outs like pink hearts, natural wood hearts, etc.

D. other embellishments from my stash are the mauve/pink jumbo dots, red heart gems, and the white foam heart stickers

E. "Love" stamp was part of a Sum More Fun set purchased about a year ago before they closed

F. dark red cardstock was purchased yesterday at Dollar Tree; the Crafter's Choice line of craft products has bundled a bunch of different cardstock scraps together that are available for $1.25. It was the first time I've found these in the store closest to us. I shouldn't have bought but it was too irresistible not to buy 2 packs! :) Some unusual tones that I've sorted out. Neutrals went into 1 bag and all others went in another. This dark red was not altered in size and was the perfect size background for the light gray cardstock base and then I went to my scraps and full sheets left of Mint Berry to make my pick for the center panel...

Take Good Care Get Well Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm still persevering bashing a paper pad made in 2016 and that I bought in late 2017 or early 2018. From that time to last week I had 3 scrap pieces left off of 17 sheets used. So 63+ has whittled down to 59 before this posting's card was made.

The orange background paper and of the bottom layer of the glitter flower are bolder, richer oranges that the scanner has faded out, so imagine what I'm seeing is a deeper set of contrasts from peaches, to deep orange, to a bit of yellow, sage greens, and charcoal grays.

Take Good Care Posies Get Well card=

Additional design notes:

1. base is the pale peach cardstock however the aqua/sage green is backing the top cover; I felt that the color contrast needed another mid or darker tone to help balance; dimension of the top layer is about 4.5" wide and 5.75" high (aqua, mid-gray, and orange CS is Art Skills/Crafter's Choice; pale peach is Neenah)

2. Mint Berry paper pad selections that I'm bashing: the green scalloped, the green and white diagonal stripe, and the charcoal gray with white x's.

3. Floral washi tape (My Mind's Eye)

4. glitter flowers and gem, stamp/sentiment, black ink pad are from my supplies
