29 April 2022 MTTCC #33 Fireplace and or Stockings Theme for Christmas card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart gets excited when I can craft! I get extra excited when it comes to Christmas and Easter cards. For the #33 MTTCC fireplace and/or stockings theme I found a free printable coloring page image that I left as full size. It will be hand-delivered. And for Card #1 I did a fast fireplace sketch then saved it on my printer as a jpeg file so I could print is to 1/6 of a full sheet size on white cardstock.

Fireplace Sketch card=

A design and vendor note for Card #1: the wreath and stocking are decorative rub-on transfers from "A Very Merry Christmas" by Steven Duncan for Carta Bella 2017.

Merry Christmas Fireplace Garland card=

Some design and vendor notes for card #2: the banner sentiment and garland are decorative rub-on transfers from "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Echo Park Paper Co. 2017 and the small mistletoe print cardstock is from ______________. This time the fast sketch fireplace image was printed on kraft paper. More kraft paper was used for the left-side folded card base.

Cozy Fireplace Scene Christmas card= [not shown on MTTCC blog]

Design notes:

1. Black cardstock base; background has red mottled CS on diagonal with neon green CS; the first/top background is a lattice print from The Mind's Eye (an old scrapbook collection).

2. image and cardstocks edges were smudged with black ink to give it a smoky, ashy look

3. the image 'wall' was colored with light peach so that it wouldn't be bright white and would go with the fireplace and mantle

4. dark pine green metallic dazzle sentiment (Paper Wishes website)

and HQCB is starting something new today as well with having a Valentine's Day Cards challenge that is offered as a page option and has its own Inlinkz tool address for entry submissions.

For V-Day theme #1, the project(s) can use either heart shape or word or the word love AND a doily. The Valentine's Day card needs to have both. You can have more than 1 heart shape. And you can use both the word heart and the word love.

Heart and love can also be their other language equivalents. You can also use a form or variation like heartfelt, heartful, hearts, loves, loved, loving.

On the HQCB site, go to the right sidebar and about halfway down will be a category titled "page options". Click on the one stating HQCB Valentine's Day Cards Challenge.

Sketch Layout Plus Ink Blended Background Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh my! It's very unusual nowadays to create a card that is not a design team or my own challenge blog inspiration commitments. Three-and-a-half days ago, my personal email inbox got notices from PCC and MTC about their new challenges. I started on the MTC first and actually used 1 full sheet of white cardstock that I divided into 4 sections.

I used the same 4 colors stamp ink pads and 2 makeup sponges for the applications that varied in pressure, amount of ink, and direction of the blending and overlaying. This post's featured card is the first one to be released. The other 3 will be revealed in a few weeks for upcoming commitments.

This is "A Happy Heart" thinking of you card=

More design notes:

An old stencil set from Pebbles that has been in my stash for about 12 years had been resurrected this month and one of the stencils provided the brackets. I thought this would be my own little creative twist on the 'label' shape seen in PCC's sketch.

I forget the vendor for the stenciled message but it was the perfect fit inside the brackets. The glittery decorative tapes are in lieu of the thin long strips shown on the sketch. And due to the placement of the brackets on the right side of the ink blended DIY section, I only put the 'strips' on the left side. A blush pink cardstock is placed behind the panel as the secondary background panel. Then those were mounted on a brighter pink cardstock along with a few blue gems for accents and to give more blue on the card.

I'm very pleased with the cheerful card.

2022 MTTC April 22 #480 Outdoor Property Markings like Fence Gate Wall Gazebo Theme DT inspiration

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! It's a wonderful feeling to be in the midst of springtime weather and all the promises of the renewal in nature! The new theme is a terrific choice for this season too!

My Time To Craft challenge blog's #480 has the theme of outdoor property markings such as fence or gate. This can be plural too so it would be great for farm and garden settings, home yards, castles, and so much more. Some more brainstorming ideas are: arbors, arches, trellises, gazebos, retaining walls, hedgerows, and tree lines. The competition starts April 22 and lasts 13 days.

DT inspiration commitment #1:

Hello, dear card:

*click on this 2nd cropped scan in order to see more detail of the pocket calendar painting image:

Design notes for "Hello, dear" card:

1. dimensions of sage green cardstock = 4.25" high x 5.5" wide

2. white cardstock is actually 4" square but only seeing a portion of it

3. scraps of 2 patterned papers from the Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby

4. scraps of kraft brown card and aqua card

5. the upcycled pocket calendar photo credit goes to Terry Redlin painting used in a 2020 Pocket Calendar distributed by Father Flanagan's Boys Home located in the USA

6. from Bluebells and Buttercups collection from Craft Consortium= the fawn wood die-cut and enamel dots were purchased from Paper Wishes website recently

*****************************************

For my design team inspiration commitment #2, I made this spring season stylized scene birthday card:

Design notes:

a. mid-gray tone cardstock flat base is 3.5" deep and 6.5" wide; some moody blues were smudged into cloud scallops and then later it was placed on a 5" x 7" light blue cardstock

b. the mint green cardstock behind the half yellow flower doily is about 3.5" deep and about 6.25" wide; some black ink and brown coppery tones were added to simulate earth

c. floral washi tape (My Mind's Eye), die-cut posies, and die-cut butterfly along with the half of a flower shaped doily help give a springtime feel

d. the fence clipart image was printed on kraft paper and was found online at Clipsarts co

e. the green sentiment strip is actually a neon green so in person there is more contrast; sentiment stamps have been in my stash for awhile

Black and White ATCs and a card made for swap

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Back 2 months ago in February I was invited to join a small card crafting club in Facebook that makes either greeting cards or ATCs. Each month the administrator/moderators create 10 events and to stay active in the group you must participate in at least 1 event each month. I signed up for just 1 event in February then 2 events in March, and now 3 events in April!!!! The same admin prepare the swap partners' list for each event. Group ownership took a change and then a name change occurred for this private group (was Card Crafting Club and now is For the Love of Cards).

This posting is to share the Black and White event. I first decided to tackle making an ATC and then decided because they're little that I might as well make 4. However I'm only showing 3. 1 was personalized so I'm not showing.

The 2 with the color puffy alphas are not going to my swap partner. Haven't decided who these will be sent to, so it's nice to have something extra made and ready to mail. With the event being black and white ONLY, the ATC with black 'hi' alphas is the one being mailed to my assigned club member.

ATCs in black and white=

Some design and vendor notes:

a. ATC size is the 2.5" x 3.5" dimensions

b. black and white buffalo check/plaid paper is from The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby

c. the 2 paper washi tapes are Pen + Gear

d. cording and alphas are stash items; and also the cardstocks

and then since I like to do more, I made a black and white greeting card to also send to my assigned swap receiver --
confession: I was a bit stumped for awhile! I didn't want to use the same things used on the ATC yet I was doing some hard thinking about what do I have that can be used...

Design notes: Hot Off the Press gingham paper--it is black--really-- on the left; an adult coloring book piece is shown on the right with some areas filled in with black marker (excited about finding this in one of my paper boxes!!!); 1/4 of a doily tucked under the Heidi Swapp tag; I outlined the 'say what' that was on the tag then stamped the "Thank you". I also added a clear gem, a label sticker wrapped over the top, and a jumbo white paperclip with a sheer ribbon that started as white but I streaked black marker on to get the faded black look! So after all items came together, I'm actually pleased with the results with this large flat card. I think the black base is 5"x 7".

Hopefully my For the Love of Cards group swapee likes these. Now I have to get busy and make something with circles on it and then I get to do one with finger painting! Messy playtime!

This swap event of black and white was a good mental challenge for me. I was having some brain scrambling trying to figure out how to have texture, layers, varying scale in the patterns, and enough visual contrast of black and white.

The Great Stash Bash April 2022 Kit Challenge has been kitted

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! Oh, it's been so long since I put a kit together but I thought the initial time pulling stuff from different boxes should ultimately save me a few minutes each time I'm putting together a project in the next couple of weeks. I've been doing mostly cardmaking lately so even though most crafters think of kits for scrapbooking, I'm going to use this large kit to get some cards, ATCs, and maybe a TN spread completed.

Lisa and Lori started this concept of TGSB over a year ago (or maybe it's been 2 years) and I've participated 2 previous times. Here's their April 2022 recipe:

I've pulled 9 patterned papers/cardstocks with 7 of those being scraps/cut/smaller than their originals and 5 solid colors with those being scrap/cut pieces, too.

Embellishments weren't counted but I've got some a few card kit die-cuts or ephemera, some metal ribbon cuts, some twine, some ribbons, stamps, alpha stickers, etc.

The stash bin item of flowers is shown in a stencil, a floral heart clear stamp, a set of flower clear stamps, and some of the ephemera.

2 cards have already been made since I pulled all this stash to bash about 2-3 hours ago!!!! Those are both for May 2022 DT commitments for FarmQuest Challenge Blog that I own.

Here are my kit photos:

Webster Pages' journaling cards (3) are seen toward the middle right of the above photo. Some alphas, leafy metal ribbon cut pieces, some hearts, stamper will be used on upcoming paper-crafted creations.

My sister's family gifted me the Bo Bunny flower stamp set a year or so ago and I haven't used it yet. Some die-cuts that are there on some bright blue with white dots lettering and under are pieces from Simple Stories Simple Card Kit "Love Grows Here".

The pink gingham and blue gingham are the only 2 whole patterned papers that I pulled. They're from Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes website. Two sets of Freckled Fawn alphas are in the foreground of the above photo, too.

The rooster and coral floral die-cut ephemera are from Simple Stories "Love Grows Here" kit and in the middle of the above photo those pieces are from Simple Stories "Happy Greetings" kit. Same kit pieces are on the 3 white base cards pulled from the kits and are from "Happy Greetings".

TGSB can be found at Lisa's blog

and Lori's blog

And in case you're curious about FarmQuest Challenge Blog this is its link=

https://farmquestchallenge.blogspot.com

The 2 cards made this late afternoon will be used May 14th and 28th for FQCB. Then at least 2 more are planned to be made for HQCB (Heart's Quest Challenge Blog) that I also own sometime in the next 4-6 weeks, too.

https://heartsquestchallenge.blogspot.com

There you have it!!! I'll be referring to this posting during the next 6 weeks probably!!! Lots of potential for sure with this.

15 April 2022 MTTCC #32 Bells Theme for Christmas Cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart gets excited to make Christmas cards, however I have to confess that I didn't send enough out this year. A few long-distance friends got our 25th anniversary photo collage card instead of a hand-made Christmas one. So I need to carve out some time periodically to start addressing envelopes and have an official tracking list for 8 months from now. This post shows an overlarge creation. I haven't framed it yet...maybe...not sure. But due to its size, I will hand-deliver it whether framed or not.

This oversized bells theme is for My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog #32. The challenge competition runs from April 15-28, 2022. For bells, it can be sleigh bells, jingle bells, handbell/choir, etc.

Can you see the gold spangles tulle? Isn't that an elegant touch?!!!

1. The base is the black cardstock with dimensions of 8" wide x 10.25" high.
2. The large image is a free coloring printable from Super Coloring website. It was color-filled with colored pencils. The interior of the bells have a layer of grey mist as the base with yellow as the topper. The interior of the ribbon shown in the bow has a layer of emerald green with Mediterranean teal as the topper. The holly leaves have the veins outlined in cappuccino with a base of olive green and a topper of deep teal. Red and Wildfire were combined for the holly berries. The outer ribbon/bow is emerald green and the bells are yellow.
3. The sentiment is a dark pine green metallic foil dazzle of "Merry Christmas" (from Paper Wishes website/company).
4. Three yellow/amber crystal gems are scattered around to add more of the bell and tulle gold hues.

a few design notes:

1. white scalloped flat base card with envelope are from set from The Paper Studio (part of a Christmas gift 2020 from my sister's family)

2. berry print cardstock and berry branch die-cut = Pink Paislee's Together for Christmas collection

3. the red with white dots print cardstock = The Paper Studio's Mint Berry paper pad 2016

4. sticker, gems, red ink stamp pad and washi tape = stash

Card #3 'Tis the Season To Be Jolly=

the closeup distorts the sticker image but helps show Santa's hand is holding a gold bell=

Note: same supplies used as card #2 with the addition of twine for the bow

Didn't cards #2 & #3 turn out really well?!?!! A bit of elegance and rustic mixed. Traditional colors. Gold in the decorative tape along with the scalloped base to me are the elegant touches. I'm just thrilled how well these came together.

2022 MTTC April 8 #479 Springtime Insects Theme DT card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! The 2 featured cards I've made are showing butterflies, my favorite insects! I've heard the quote many times calling butterflies as fluttering flowers or flying flowers! The complexity of color and design in their wings and how graceful they look has always fascinated me. So when as a DT member I learned about this theme, I knew I had many to choose from out of my stash.

My Time To Craft challenge blog #479 theme is Springtime Insects.

Released on April 8, 2022 at 12am CST/6am UK and will be open for participants until April 21, 2022 at 12am CST/6am UK.

link for #479http://mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/2022/04/mttc-479-theme-is-springtime-insects.html

Card #1= Pink and Black It's a Beautiful Life Birthday card

Card #1 design notes:

1. base is black, top-folded, 4.25" wide x 5.5" high, Pen + Gear

2. pink background panel, Astrobrights/Neenah

3. pink and white stripe panel, pink with white Xs, and the white with pink scallops, Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio (this is my 2022 selected papers to bash this year; read earlier posts made in late January and early February about this)

4. the pink tonal floral strip and the featured sentiment journal card that was trimmed down are from My Mind's Eye, a collection I bought several years ago

5. embellishments: pale pink crystal gem, message stamp, black ink pad, and the corrugated backed butterfly are all stash items; I took off the corrugated butterfly layer and stamped it black in order to disguise the kraft color since this card also fits for a Pink and Black card swap challenge that only allowed white as an additional neutral

Card #2: Hello and Happy Birthday card=

Isn't this lovely! I'm glad I kept the color combination simplified. When I started assembling items to make this, I thought I wanted the base to be a pale peach/blush pink or to go to a bold orange but the chocolate brown won the dilemma!

Design notes for Card #2=

1. brown cardstock base is about 6" wide and 4.25" high;

2. the pale green and white floral cardstock; Mint Berry pack from The Paper Studio

3. the olive green and crinkled copper/bronze specialty paper are scraps; cut as 2" squares

4. the white hello is a 'dazzle' from Paper Wishes website

5. the butterflies, amber heart crystal gems, sentiment stamp, black ink pad; stash items

6. an aqua/teal blue marker was used to add outline contrast to the thin font lines of the stamp used to make 'happy birthday'

Easter Card with floral and scalloped focal

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! My heart's excited that I've made another Easter card! I love Easter Sunday almost as much as Christmas! My favorite Bible passage is John 14: 1-6. Such hope from those verses! We also became honorary grandparents this afternoon with the arrival of little Aubrey Bethany! My husband has been like a dad mentor figure and garage buddy to Aubrey's dad. Aubrey's mom is the former pet parent of our "Mr. Bennett". Little Aubrey weighs just under 6 pounds at 5 lbs. 10 oz., so I might have to shop for a few preemie outfits tomorrow. Not sure if they have any small stuff. We're hoping to meet Aubrey either tomorrow or Monday!!!! Exciting!

But I've digressed. This Easter card is not for a DT commitment, so I will link it to other challenge blogs and share with several Facebook groups.

Floral Scalloped Focal Easter card=

Design notes:
1. white cardstock base 5" wide x 7" high
2. pale pink cardstock inner base is 1/4" smaller than the white base
3. pink tonal stripe print paper has been in my stash for a long time
4. more white cardstock was used for the stenciled scalloped focal; stencils from Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes website
5. pine green, grass green, magenta, purple markers
6. purple, red, and green glitter paint pens used on the center flower of the focal piece
7. gold cardstock scrap, fine black ink pen, and clear gems complete the card

Inspiration for pulling out the old stencil pack from HOTP/PW came from seeing Donna W's inspiration DT card at Four Seasons Challenge Blog. THANKS, Donna W!!!! I haven't used any of the stencils from the set for probably several years. Springtime is the perfect time to use the scalloped 'circle' and the flower (flipped to get opposite direction and then I altered it slightly to get a center straighter stem flower).

1 April 2022 MTTCC #31 Use 3 or more patterned papers format Christmas cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! It's that time in rotation to share the new challenge theme design team commitment for My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog! At MTTCC the requirement will be how you format your Christmas card with 3 or more patterned papers. Yes!

There are lots of sketch layouts that suggest 2 by splitting on the diagonal, however what can you do with three? Use the link below to see what my teamies created. I chose to do snowy evening winter skies for 2 cards...actually I made 4!!! Only 2 are being shown at MTTCC. The only 2 you will see have more red on them. This challenge starts April 1st (no fooling) at 12 am Central Time/Chicago and goes to April 14th at same time.

These are the 2 featured at MTTCC:

Design notes: White card base is 6" square or close to it. The black background is about 5.5" wide and 4.25" high. Silver and white embossed cardstock is from Martha Stewart. The navy blue with white stars cardstock is from Echo Park. The navy blue with snowflakes cardstock is from ..... The red Merry Christmas and the silver and blue dazzles are from Paper Wishes website. The 2 different ribbons that I overlapped were bought at Dollar Tree, I think. They both have a silver metallic stitching in the middle. The 2nd card has 3 blue crystal gems added for a corner accent.

Other challenge blogs and Facebook groups where I will link to:

1. The Holly and Ivy Christmas challenge blog; Anything Christmas Goes;

2. ABC Christmas Challenge blog; Letters E, F, and G; my cards fit the Letter F (fussy and fancy); there is the shine of the foil dazzles and light bouncing off the gems; also the first card has the elegant ribbons...

3. Paper, Paper, Paper and DT Calls group in FB; sharing

4. The Seasonal Cardmaker group in FB; sharing for winter season

5. Passionate Paper Creations and Friends group on FB; sharing

The other 2 which could be featured separately on their own posting =

Design notes: Red 6" square (or could be 6.5" high and 6" wide) cardstock bases with the smaller black backgrounds. Paper choices are more mixed here. Silver mirror foil pieces are on the top card. A navy blue constellation sky cardstock is from .... More blue and silver dazzles (and red Merry Christmas) from Paper Wishes were embellished more with blue crystal gems. And red glitter foam hearts from my stash box.

This version below is different with the addition of the dark red tonal star cardstock from Echo Park. More dazzles from Paper Wishes. The large silver glitter snowflake is a thick wooden laser die-cut ornament. A red heart crystal gem covers the tiny circle opening for thread. In person, these last 2 cards are very vibrant and to me are more festive. The first two don't have as much visual contrast with the only red being the sentiment and sticking closely to the black, blue, white and silver combination.

Thanks for reading my post! I also appreciate all who take time to comment. It will be fun looking at the linked submissions of participants to see different layouts (proportions of paper choices) and their choices of winter holiday papers and topics.

I kept mine to snowflakes and night sky papers that came from different Christmas paper pad collections.

Heartfelt gratitude and still crafting in the USA heartland,
