27 May 2022 MTTCC #35 Theme of Wreaths DT cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm Becca S as I go by in blogland and my husband and I live in the USA heartland, the Midwest. I spent the bulk of my childhood years in Illinois while he grew up in Missouri. Our paths crossed in June 1995 which was 5 years after I'd moved to the St. Louis metro area. His first wife died in March 1995 and his oldest sister came to work at the decorating store where I did about the same time. She tried to introduce us for awhile and finally 6 days after I turned 33, Joe agreed to meet me! We quickly connected and were married 7 months and 1 week after meeting!!! <3

It's been awhile since I shared any personal info so I thought I'd go back to the beginning of my love story that has continued for over 26 years now.

He tolerates (!!) my crafting! It brings me joy and he hears many of our friends and family state how they enjoy receiving one of my handmade cards. Today's blog posting showcases wreath-themed cards for my Design Team commitment for My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog.

#35 challenge starts May 27, 2022 and ends June 9th. I've crafted 2 cards with 1 showing a wreath on a door and the other it is around the deer's neck!!

Card #1 Welcome To Our Home Christmas card=

A few design and vendor notes: Bo Bunny's Christmas Treasures 6" x 8" paper pad (2019) for the gorgeous foil striped patterned cardstock. A gift tag circle front panel is the focal. The red metallic foil dazzles of "MC" are from Paper Wishes website.

Card #2 Merry Christmas Dear card=

A few design and vendor notes for card #2: Bo Bunny's Christmas Treasures 6" x 8" paper pad (2019) for the lovely holly and berries patterned cardstock. More red metallic foil dazzles from Paper Wishes website. More gift tags upcycled. The top one with the deer has foam tape under it to add dimension. And in the photo below, the mini clothespin clip with the wood deer made it hard to get a good view on the scanner plate. I wanted to show both views. Red flat card base with matching envelope were purchased at The Paper Source website.

2022 May 20 MTTC #482 Theme is Thank You

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! A terrific occasion greeting card to have available is a thank you appreciation card. That's the theme for My Time To Craft challenge blog competition #482. For my design team commitment for MTTC I have created 2 cards. Both have most of their supplies coming from the TGSB April 2022 kit that I put together Easter weekend. My planning and prep intentions were to have enough supplies to make several cards and a possible TN spread for commitments ranging in a 4-6 week span. Already this weekend I've made 5 cards!!!

The planning and prep time for the kit took longer of course than what it typically does for 1 or 2 cards but once it got made, I've been able to get cards made quickly. Yea! Win-win!!

MTTC's #482 starts May 20, 2022 and ends on June 2, 2022. Times for both dates are the same so figure accordingly to wherever you are in the world (6am UK or 12am Central Time USA/Chicago).

Thank You floral with gingham card:

Design and vendor notes worth mentioning are:

A. Embellishments and pink cardstock for the sentiment strip were not in the TGSB April 2022 kit. The stamper for "thank you", floral paper scrap, the blue gingham paper was cut to fit, the ribbon, and the flat base blue cardstock were.

B. Blue gingham paper (Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes website)

C. Papers were edged using a blue ink pad

Green and blue geometric thank you card:

Design notes for card #2:

All items for this card were from my kit made Easter weekend for TGSB April 2022 except for the green cardstock scrap, the little planner strip sticker with the heart (the heart was white so I filled with dark blue marker and then topped with a lighter blue glitter paint pen), and the navy blue glitter decorative tape. I like the analogous color scheme of this card.

Both cards are slimline style: 4" x 7" and each use the sentiment 'thank you' but with different stamps. Fairly simple and easy to put together with not a whole lot of fuss. I wanted the patterned papers/cardstocks to not get covered up. Now to get ready for the mail....

The Great Stash Bash Kit for May 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm getting a bit behind to gathering what I want to get accomplished with my kit that I've put together based on Lisa's and Lori's challenge The Great Stash Bash. The number of projects I want to get accomplished with this kit is huge like the gathered supplies. And I don't have everything selected either! But this gathering I've done over the past 2 days will speed up the process for each card I make.

I've got at least 12 cards I want to do for DT commitments trying to work ahead with themes that I know are in the works. I'd also like to start a TN (new; came in a clearance spring pack bought through Peachy Cheap website) that is about me. I don't have children but I'm hoping it will be something that 1 of my 4 nieces or 2 nephews will want to have in the future.

I'm also wanting to do a family birthday yearly calendar that I can do like a scrapbook layout and have it displayed near my computer. Something pretty to be keep me on track! :) We just heard a few days ago that my oldest niece/goddaughter is expecting baby #2 so there's another important reason to make sure I don't miss any special birthdates.

And another wish list project is a monthly planner. I found a customizable/blank monthly calendar planner that I'd like to do as a hands-on with my DT commitments.

The kit is so large I have to show it in 3 photos and even then several papers got buried!

The bright summery citrus-hued flower embellishments are new and part of the spring clearance pack!!! It was a very good deal with all that I got and only 1/3 of it or less is showing up in this May kit! There are some details mentioned after the next photo that apply to this above photo so keep reading.

Two new card kits from Simple Stories also arrived this week that were another clearance purchase from Peachy Cheap and elements from several of their suggestions will be mixed with some other products that are shown in the kit or will be pulled from my stash. A full sheet (4.5x6.5" sheet of a pink with green floral) and 2 scraps of pink with white Xs from The Mint Berry paper pad that I've picked to bash this year are included in this above photo. Two 6" square sheets (purple gingham and gray gingham) are from Hot Off The Press (Paper Wishes). The blue gingham, lake symbols, and a teal plaid in the top photo are new from a Lake Life paper pad that came in that spring clearance pack purchase!!! I'm needing to do some travel/vacation/tropical kinds, some whimsical, some fruits/baking/gardening, and a few other topics that will stay secret!

In the above photo, there are 19 cardstock scraps of different sizes in mostly solid colors and a few that have a little marbling to them. The solid color full sheets are underneath the scraps and I think there are 8 sheets. Washi and decorative tapes are to the upper left in a variety of blues and lavenders. There are some new blue-hued jewels and some purple glitter butterfly die-cuts that are both new that came in the clearance spring pack from Peachy Cheap. Woot!!!

And guess what I forgot to gather??!! The enamel dots!!! I have a few but not many. I've got some pearl kind of glossy 'gems' that I'll probably use in navy blue, pale pink, and bright pink.

There are at least 9 patterned papers/cardstocks of different sizes and a few of the larger sheets aren't full size. I've got more than 3-4 embellishments picked. There are lots of die-cuts/ephemera that have been pulled along with those shown washi/decorative tapes, blue jewels and 2 butterfly die-cuts.

Time for bed to get rest so that I can start to create with all this!!!

Please visit Lisa H and Lori S to see what they've put together for their kits:

Lisa H

AND

Lori S

https://loriannie670.blogspot.com/2022/05/lisa-and-loris-great-stash-bash-may-kit.html

They each have their own kits and do an excellent job explaining the how and why to their selecting processes. Definitely worth reading both of their postings!

Stay tuned in a future days and weeks to see how the majority of this gets used!!! YEA!!!

Pretty in Pink Encouragement Cards 3 and 4 of planned 4

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh my! We have had cooler temps today, some rain, power outage including landline phone, and some needed rest! The power was out for about 1.5 hours and phone was out for about 3 hours. That was Sunday when I was trying to work on taking 1 sheet and creating 4 cards with it. CCMWF had a weekend challenge to use a 6"square patterned cardstock with 2 cut lines on angles so that the 4 sections can be used on 4 cards.

In typical creative Becca fashion, I had to tweak this a bit. I have a paper pad I'm trying to bash this year however it is not sized at 6" square but more like 4.5"x 6.5". I still did the 2 angled cuts but didn't trim as much off as what the guidelines were given at CCMWF. I'm also not using a 6" square card base either. :)

Let's take a look at the 2 encouragement cards that I got finished today, Monday May 16. [There are 2 that were completed on Sunday afternoon.] The small focal cards are from "Promises From God --For Women" made by Christian Art Gifts. Patterned cardstock angled cuts are from Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio. Embellishments are from my stash. Even the ribbon was Becca-ified. It was white and I 'tie-dyed' it by applying 4 different markers on it: 2 shades of pink/magenta, teal green, and gray.

Layouts are almost the same. The shapes/angles of the floral patterned cardstock are different and the embellishments aren't quite the same. The largest pink cardstock is the base. More pinks were used for Cards 3 and 4. And I only used snippets of remaining ribbon from Cards 1 and 2. Vertical format instead of horizontal was another change today.  Thick foam adhesive tape under the Bible promise cards is causing some gray shadow from the scanning process.

And aren't they pretty in pink?!! So sweet!

Pretty in Pink Encouragement Cards 1 and 2 of a planned 4

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh my! We have had cooler temps today, some rain, power outage including landline phone, and some needed rest! 13 May 2022 MTTCC #34 Theme of Sled and or Sleigh Christmas cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's been very excited this winter and spring to be able to carve out time for card-making! This post the cards must have a sled and/or sleigh and be Christmas/winter holiday appropriate (because it is a Christmas blog!). Imagine my surprise for Card #1 to combine a sled with reusing/upcycling a commercial card scene that shows a family in a sleigh with children playing in the snow on the left and a comfy beautiful home on the right.

These cards are for the design team inspiration projects shared on the May 13, 2022 posting at My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog (MTTCC). It's time to show the theme #34 of sled and/or sleigh

Christmas Night Sleigh Ride card=

A small bit of white glitter cardstock was used to accent the top right corner. The upcycled card panel was trimmed down just enough to keep most of the wonderful artwork of Terry Redlin. I kept his name and the sentiment on so that allowed me to add the sled accent (upcycled gift tag) and the clear crystal gems as the only embellishments. Pretty easy to make. Card base (top folded dark red) has a matching envelope were purchased at The Paper Source website.

I thought it was a fun idea to add the sled tag accent because there are 2 children playing ice hockey and another lacing skates on as well as dog painted in the scene on the left. With all that snow-covered landscape, surely someone has been using a sled as well as taking rides in the sleigh!

DT project #2= We wish you a merry Christmas--sledding card!

Oh, my snowflakes! Is "Stickopatomus" still around making stickers? Those 2 large icy silver snowflakes are mega years old. So is the text and snowman with gift sled die-cuts. These were part of a scrapbooking kit that I bought on a vacation trip in 2010 or 2011. Crazy!! Even more crazy is the frosty french blue with white diamond print cardstock!!! --It's another recycled/upcycled resourceful move on my part! It's a side flap from a pop-up style tissue box!!! --YES!!! Behind that is mirror foil that the scanner light on my printer has captured bounced light/color waves.

*****************************************

DT project #3= Oh, what fun at Christmas time! card

The white scalloped flat card base comes in a set with envelopes by The Paper Studio. I forget the vendor for the snowmen washi tape. A set of winter themes were given to me either 2 or 3 years ago. The bright blue with snowflake decorative tape was also used on card #2. Scraps of a snowflake stationery sheet and constellation night sky cardstock add more blues. The 2 kids on the sled image is a sticker freebie sent by a children's subscription magazine.

2022 MTTC May 6 #481 Theme of Around the House DT card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm so happy you are here to see my fun charming cards for the Around the House theme #481 challenge starting at My Time To Craft challenge blog! This challenge lasts for 13 days and starts May 6, 2022 at 12am CST.

When I listed the theme I suggested getting inspired by moms for Mother's Day or dads for Father's Day, sipping lemonade or tea on the porch, reading a book, etc. There are thousands of possibilities to get creative with this. The vinyl stickers used on this card were re-discovered in my supply box that keeps my Spring season and Easter embellishments. These were perfect! Eureka! The paint rings interlocking design was some experimenting that was made BEFORE I looked in this box! How lucky does this make me! The vinyls were tiny enough to fit inside and how darling is having the broom and the vacuum cleaner 'bookending' the letters of HOME!!!!

Home Sweet Home card=

Look closely at the thin margin of paper patterns surrounding the front feature panel. The base cardstock is a bright lemon yellow and the first paper has a slight yellow-orange with white geometric design and then the bright blue and white stripes go up and down across the sheet. These add just a smidge of additional colors helping to create a much needed border between the pale peach/blush pink cardstock that looks light yellow by the scanner.

MTTC #481 posting linkhttp://mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/2022/05/mttc-481-theme-is-around-house.html

MTTC blog badge is shown on my blog sidebar.

The #481 theme is 'around the house' and I've shown lots of items/topics that are possible with this theme: appliance/household supplies like clothespin, paper clip, vacuum, broom, paper bag; family pet; images of houses, etc.

************************************

More design notes for card #1:

1. green paint rings are acrylic paint that I dipped a toilet paper roll into and then 'imprinted' to make the pattern...it's like making my own designer patterned paper! :)

2. vinyl stickers might be from Dear Lizzy...not sure...packaging was tossed out

and the next is totally different, especially for my mom whose favorite color is blue! A very different Mother's Day card for my Momma Jane!

-----------------------------\/\/\/\\/\\/\\/\/\\\\////\\\\//\\/\\\\\/\\\/\/\/\\\\\\/\---------------------------

Mother's Day card project #2=

a few design notes about this Mother's Day card=

1. flat card base is the kraft brown cardstock that is just a 1/8th" extra around 3 sides of the perimeter

2. the sandy beige cardstock is 4.5" wide by 6.25" tall

3. the mirror home "cut-out" is a wall sticker; there is a thin foam tape under the olive green cardstock matting background behind it to help lift it above the washi taped burgundy paper panel

4. the alpha tile stickers are from Freckled Fawn

5. metal paper clip with 'mom' is from a sheet of topics but I removed the packaging so I don't remember who made these; I think I bought them at Paper Wishes website...

6. the large die-cut of Family was part of an old sheet of stick-ons; it is raised off the chocolate brown cardstock with thick foam tape

7. 2 colors of cording were looped around and wedged between the die-cut and the brown backing; 3 amber gold heart-shaped crystal gems were scattered around to symbolize the 3 children my mom has (I'm the oldest!!!) :)

Circle It Themed Artist Trading Coins for a swap

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My creative mojo had a bit of a speed bump for a group April 2022 event. For the Love of Cards group in Facebook is a private group that still has a few membership spots available. The 2 admin moderators want to keep the group limited to 25 members because of swapping our projects.

I joined in late January when the group was called Card Crafting Club. About 8 weeks ago, the CCC owner/administrator decided to stop the group. So 2 active members agreed to continue under a new name. 10-13 events are offered each month and you can make greeting cards for a few events or ATCs for most of the events. For April 2022, I signed up for 3 of the 10: black and white, circle it, and finger painting. Each of these will get their own posting.

Today's focus is "Circle It". Since we were only to do circles I switched the ATC baseball card size to a 3" diameter coin, also known as an ATC.

For the three that I made (2 will go to my swapee and 1 will be kept to send to a relative or friend), I used a small combination of embellishments and some kind of marker/glue/paint.

Red glitter glue dots are adding extra geometric patterning on this Artist Trading Coin. The jumbo red circle sticker has been in my stash forevermore! and the light sandy color base is recycled packaging!

I didn't notice that 1 of the snowflake stickers shifted and covered a gem dot when I placed this face down on the printer scanning glass plate. sigh....light green glitter paint pen dots are creating the border design for the snowflake Artist Trading Coin=

The 'don't forget' Artist Trading Coin focal sticker started as a jumbo speech bubble odd shape that I just trimmed off the triangular point part! For the outer edge border, there are groupings of red glitter paint pen and light green glitter paint pen dots and red gem dots onto light gray cardstock 'coin'.

This blog posting will be published when the group swapee has shown that they have received her 2 ATCs in the FB group site. EDIT= It took almost 3 weeks for her to receive it from Illinois to Florida!! Crazy! She just got them on today, Cinco de mayo! Yesterday I got my May event ATCs made and have to get those mailed now! Hopefully they don't take 3 weeks!

Finger Painting ATCS for a group swap

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! Well, I can't believe I signed up for a finger painting event in a card making group but I did!!! It was one of 3 events for April and the last one for me to tackle. Literally, tackle. Extreme reluctance because I haven't done much painting of any kind for at least 6-7 years and then it was probably 25 years before that since the prior time. I have several relatives on each side of my family who are very talented in their painting, which might account for some of my resistance.

I used white cardstock for my paint surface and light sage green cardstock base, 3 acrylic paints, and 1 gold tempera paint, and a small section of waxed paper as my paint palette. Oh, and then a fine detail point black pen to add in some structural lines for the tulips as well as signing each one. A black stamp pad was used to ink the white cardstock edges. That's it. Just some messy dabbing, streaking, swirling kinds of motions using 4 fingers, not the thumb.

My results:

The above shown set are being sent to my 'swapee' in the FB club, For the Love of Cards.

The set shown below will either be kept or mailed to 1 or 2 special people...

What do you think?

This was not my comfort zone but I'm just going to have to spend time dabbling if I want to build my confidence. There's also the fact of being my own worst critic. sigh....

Facebook groups or a few challenge blogs were I can link this post are:
