Krafty Chicks Week 4 All Occasion Guest DT inspiration

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is bittersweet with this posting! This is my last week of honor as Guest Chick DT for Krafty Chicks challenge blog! Week 4 theme at KC is "All Occasion" #648

I chose to use my roll of washi tape petals that can be added to in order to build up as large of a flower that you want. That started the card. Then pearl gems/dots added. Some pink glitter glue was thinned out with white glue and applied to the edges to not only hold them down but add some pink to define the blue and white petals against the turquoise cardstock.

Encouragement card=

Some vendor notes:

a. washi tape petals (I think is Pen + Gear)

b. the black 'diamond' glitter tape (I think is Scotch brand...old item in my stash)

c. the Scripture verse was cut with a circle stencil/traced, colored, and then applied to the small silver doily = Colorful Prayer Cards by Crown Jewelz in Ohio (bought at Dollar Tree)

d. the other items are old stash items

MTTC #498 starts 30 December 2022 with Theme of Welcome To The World Baby

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's very excited to create baby congratulations for a dear friend of mine. She didn't get married until 36-37 years old and was blessed to deliver her 1st child/daughter just before their 1st anniversary! Now her daughter has just delivered her 1st child/daughter just before her 1st anniversary! My friend just turned 65 and they are ecstatic for this new chapter in their family's lives.

MTTC #498 is having a New Year's theme of Welcome To The World Baby and I've created 2 baby congrats cards that are similar to each other. MTTC's #498 starts December 30, 2022 and ends January 12, 2023 at 12:00am CT/Chicago time or 6:00am UK.

Above: for friend's daughter and son-in-law
Below: for friend and her husband

Some design and vendor notes:

1. checked gingham papers = Hot Off The Press; purchased through Paper Wishes website

2. lavender dot paper and die-cuts = Simple Stories card kit

3. arched baby theme stickers = Webster Pages

4. kraft notecard left side fold = The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby

MTTC #495 Challenge starts 18 November 2022 and Theme is Transportation

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's excited for showing a cute easy to make notecard as my DT inspiration card for My Time To Craft Challenge blog's Theme #495 about transportation.

I thought this would be a flexible 2 season kind of topic for our participants to create about. Americans can have coming home for Thanksgiving and everyone can have cars or trucks hauling gifts, trees, etc. for the Christmas holiday season.

The DT inspiration card fits into an autumn harvest kind of vibe. My siblings are 2 different directions and distances from me and our mom, who only lives 5-6 miles from Joe and I. My brother is about 2.5-3 hours away and our sister is 12+ hours and 4 states away. The week of Thanksgiving, my sister is planning on being up here and hopefully my brother's crew can come once or twice. I've made another notecard for my sister, so this one will go to my 'little' brother!

See ya soon notecard=

Some design and vendor notes:

a. the large die-cut is Echo Park's Farmers Market Ephemera (2021)

b. it was outlined using a black marker and backed with a charcoal gray textured specialty paper

c. the rust/muted pink tone cardstock base (flat) is from Darice

d. the mid-gray with white x print cardstock strip scrap is from Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio that I've been trying to bash this year. I don't think I'm going to make it but I've reduced the starting number of sheets by half, so that's a very good thing.

e. red glitter alpha stickers, and small red glitter heart sticker are stash items.

MIUCB DT project for 1 November 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!! My heart's excited to share another terrific mixed media card that I made for my design team commitment for Mix It Up Challenge Blog!!

MIUCB's #62 launches November 1 for six weeks!!! It's anything goes theme with the option technique being whatever you choose. I chose to use another section from a full sheet I did of acrylic paint dabbing using 3 hues (pink, blue, and purple) topped with some gold glitter tempera paint dabbing. This was done this summer with still about 60% remaining of the painted white cardstock sheet.

I've also used a white glitter decorative tape, a white dazzle/sticker "Thanks", white enamel dots, and a gold rose die-cut for embellishment accents.

Thanks card=

 some design notes and vendors:

1. another technique is the pink cardstock was distressed

2. the white "thanks" dazzle is from Paper Wishes website

3. the white enamel dots are from Craft Consortium

4. the gold rose die-cut, acrylic paints, and tempera paint were purchased at Dollar Tree during the past year or so

OUAT November 2022 childrens book Dreamers

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This is my 4th design team commitment for Once Upon A Time challenge blog. It just started in August with the premise of inspiring crafting from a children's book cover or its actual content pages.

November's selection is Dreamers by Yuyi Morales.

Here is my interpretation of the book cover using supplies from my various stash supply boxes=

My elements that make a nod to the book cover are: wispy cloud swirls, sun/rays, butterfly, flowers, mother and child, gold letter fonts in the pale peachy-pink tiles, and lots of the soft beige, white, yellow, and pink tones to contrast with some bolder colors.

I did try to tone down the boldness of the wavy striped paper by covering it with a peach crayon application. But that just affected it a wee bit.

Overall, because I've used items from my stashes and didn't have to download or buy anything, I'm pleased with the dreaming mom holding her precious baby and the wistful scenery surrounding them.

Here's Deanne's selected book feature cover:

MTTC #492 Theme of Geometrics Design Team Project for 7 October 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This posting showcases the inspiration card I made for my Design Team commitment with My Time To Craft challenge blog. The theme for #492 is geometrics! Friday October 7-Thursday October 20, 2022 is the competition period for MTTC's #492.

My mind kept going to Halloween--pointy triangular witches hats, round pumpkins, triangular bundles of corn stalks, and many other possibilities. Then I thought of kids birthdays. But my cardmaking process was a bit backwards with this one. I used some old patterned papers to give me the design direction for "On Point" thinking of you card. A bit of a subtle pun given the star points and triangle points of the patterned papers.

shapes used:

1. rectangles of deep orange cardstock, black cardstock, and the triangle/diamond print paper; and I guess the blue glitter washi tape would also qualify as a rectangle

2. square= bright blue paper

3. circle= star print paper

4. star/print paper

5. triangles & diamonds made/print paper

MTTC #490 Theme is Jumbo Sentiment showing my DT projects

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh my stars and flowers! :) Sometimes technique and format challenges get my heart and mind fluttering nervously. How to do it? What to say? For card #2=This time I worked a bit backwards because the flower focal had been made and thought I'd use it on other recent cards but I kept putting it aside. I decided to use it and then go with an analogous color scheme of orange, yellow, and red for color coordination and repetition. Then I decided to make it a birthday card and to create a deep dark artsy birthday card .....

For My Time To Craft challenge blog #490

Take good care! Wishing you well! Happy Birthday!--triple sentiment focal birthday card:

A few notes on card #1= The "HB" stamp is an old Stampin' Up product and the 2 little sentiment stamps, I think, are Hampton Arts. Cardstocks and patterned paper are old stash and items placed in my May 2022 kit made for The Great Stash Bash challenge by Lisa and Lori. It was a huge kit this time that I've been using into the summer! Lots of inking to unite the colors in the patterned paper and a light purple glitter paint pen was applied over the sentiments to add sparkle. Gold glitter tempera paint was applied randomly around the card to get glitter dabs and streaks, too.

Wow! Wow! HAPPy Birthday card:

Take a closer look on this cropped scan on stenciled 'birthday': the marker colors and even top glitter paint pens actually were layered and alternated. The flame and stenciled stars didn't get glitter in order to have some contrast:

For this flower closeup scan, recycled light speckled kraft cardstock packaging was stenciled and cut into a circle and edged with red ink. The glitter flowers were edged in some red ink, too! The acetate chevron 'flag' was part of a set-new-that was received in a spring clearance mystery box purchased through Peachy Cheap website. The coppery textured specialty paper scrap under it was purchased about 12 years ago from Paper Wishes website! I've been hoarding them. I got a set of them pre-cut to ATC size. I've still got them buried in a stash box!

MIUCB DT Project for 1 September 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! It's time for the next challenge at Mix It Up challenge blog! Participants have 6 weeks to enter Sept 1- Oct 15. The theme is Anything Goes with a technique option of smooshing (inks). This is my 2nd design team commitment for MIUCB!!!

I have to admit I haven't done much ink smooshing. It's easier to dab and smear in my opinion. For the backdrop of the stamped sentiment, I applied gray, lime green, pine green, and aqua onto a plastic bowl, spritzed with water, then pressed down the watercolor sketch paper onto the watered ink. This was only 1 application. The sketch paper is thin so I stopped with the one time. I used a circle stencil to trace my shape to fit the lime green scalloped circle that had been in my stash scraps for a long time.

The olive green patterned paper triangle had also been in stash scraps for maybe 2 years!!! The color hues almost fit an analogous color scheme. Another old stash item are the strips of a long border sticker on the right side. The newest items are the butterflies and then the ribbon 'tape' of light blue with tiny white dots.

Butterflies have landed slimline card (about 4 1/8" x 7 1/4")=

Once Upon A Time September 2022 childrens book Charlottes Web prompt

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! On August 1st, Once Upon A Time challenge blog debuted. For the 2nd challenge, blog owner Deanne has selected the children's classic Charlotte's Web for September's inspiration.

I've tried to recreate the book cover with some personalization and stash raid without having to download or purchase anything. This potentially might be used for classroom purposes. I've been at a variety of age levels and subjects during the past 35+ years including college adjunct to pre-service teachers and daycare providers.

Here's my DT commitment titled "Rebecca's Web" =

Some design notes and credits:
a. gray specialty cardstock base is about 6.5" x 5-5.5"
b. spider cardstock is on 1 side of a 12" square by
c. fence clipart image was a freebie downloaded and printed on white cardstock; a mix of markers and colored pencils were used on it; then fussy cut
d. animal tag was cut apart to separate the sentiment and just have the stacked animal portion behind the fence (Echo Park)
e. a black marker and black, brown, and reddish-mauve colored pencils were used for the female blank face stamp (Illustrated Faith)
f. a white thick stamp pad ink was smeared on the light green cardstock
g. a mechanical pencil was used to create some faux spidery web lines around the title to mimic the cover

Overall, if used for a classroom ELA activity to create a sequel to Charlotte's Web, I'm good to go. There are enough elements similar to Garth's cover art and for book content. :)

In case it has been awhile since you've seen the book cover art for Charlotte's Web, this is the photo provided by Deanne for OUAT=

Denim Blues Inspired Sympathy Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity card! Sadly, a lifetime close family friend of my husband and his siblings lost his battle with cancer on July 7th. Creatively, I've been wanting to craft something for the denim inspiration at Deanne's challenge blog and thought I'd do a unique sympathy card for the family.

There are 2 different textured specialty cardstocks for the inside panel so using the white blank card with front cover square window was a good artistic opportunity to do something mixed media on the front.

Let's take a sneak peek

Featured elements to take note of:

1. 3 cordings tied on the left--yellow and 2 shades of blue

2. blue acrylic paint, sunflower yellow colored pencil marks, and gold glitter tempera paint

3. gold metallic foil dazzle for the main sentiment (Paper Wishes website)

4. stamp for the secondary sentiment (Hampton Arts, I think)

5. white card with square window opening on front panel with a white envelope came from a set (Studio G)

now some views using my cell phone=

2022 July 1 MTTC #485 Theme of Vegetables

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! Doesn't summertime make you think of vegetable gardens? Well, it used to for me, especially growing up. My mom kept lots of summer days busy with canning and freezing. Sitting on the back porch steps snapping beans, husking corn, and popping pea pods were part of that. This July 1st at My Time To Craft challenge blog, we want you to create with the theme of vegetable(s). It can be a mix of them or you can focus on a specific type.

For my DT commitment, my mom, ever supportive, found this photo image of a crafter's counterfeit vegetables in an issue of Country Woman. She thought I should have the page to use! And I have! Whoever the artisan was, he/she took old spindles, painted them, and then add artificial greens for the tops. The creamy white ones could be horseradish. The orange are definitely the carrots. And the reddish-purple could be beets or turnips, maybe. I thought it was cleverly cute! I also like the white wicker basket that they are in.

A Garden Variety Birthday card=

For my 2nd project for my DT commitment, I used rub-on transfers for the vegetables/fungi (mushrooms, beets, and carrots) and the mason jar. Stampin' up for the old "HB" stamp; the Queen Anne's Lace and green with white marks cardstocks are both from the Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio that I'm trying to bash in 2022. Gray scrap and base black cardstocks are from stash. Black stamp pad ink was used on paper edges.

It was made in 2016 but I didn't buy it until late 2017 or early 2018. On January 23, 2022 I had 63 sheets remaining and only 3 scraps. I'm down to 36 sheets with lots of scraps in different sizes!!! There are at least 3 projects made that I can't show yet that are part of what consisted between 63 down to 36. Half of a year to go! and just under half of the original start count to finish!!!!

2022 MTTC May 6 #481 Theme of Around the House DT card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm so happy you are here to see my fun charming cards for the Around the House theme #481 challenge starting at My Time To Craft challenge blog! This challenge lasts for 13 days and starts May 6, 2022 at 12am CST.

When I listed the theme I suggested getting inspired by moms for Mother's Day or dads for Father's Day, sipping lemonade or tea on the porch, reading a book, etc. There are thousands of possibilities to get creative with this. The vinyl stickers used on this card were re-discovered in my supply box that keeps my Spring season and Easter embellishments. These were perfect! Eureka! The paint rings interlocking design was some experimenting that was made BEFORE I looked in this box! How lucky does this make me! The vinyls were tiny enough to fit inside and how darling is having the broom and the vacuum cleaner 'bookending' the letters of HOME!!!!

Home Sweet Home card=

Look closely at the thin margin of paper patterns surrounding the front feature panel. The base cardstock is a bright lemon yellow and the first paper has a slight yellow-orange with white geometric design and then the bright blue and white stripes go up and down across the sheet. These add just a smidge of additional colors helping to create a much needed border between the pale peach/blush pink cardstock that looks light yellow by the scanner.

MTTC #481 posting linkhttp://mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/2022/05/mttc-481-theme-is-around-house.html

MTTC blog badge is shown on my blog sidebar.

The #481 theme is 'around the house' and I've shown lots of items/topics that are possible with this theme: appliance/household supplies like clothespin, paper clip, vacuum, broom, paper bag; family pet; images of houses, etc.

More design notes for card #1:

1. green paint rings are acrylic paint that I dipped a toilet paper roll into and then 'imprinted' to make the pattern...it's like making my own designer patterned paper! :)

2. vinyl stickers might be from Dear Lizzy...not sure...packaging was tossed out

and the next is totally different, especially for my mom whose favorite color is blue! A very different Mother's Day card for my Momma Jane!

Mother's Day card project #2=

a few design notes about this Mother's Day card=

1. flat card base is the kraft brown cardstock that is just a 1/8th" extra around 3 sides of the perimeter

2. the sandy beige cardstock is 4.5" wide by 6.25" tall

3. the mirror home "cut-out" is a wall sticker; there is a thin foam tape under the olive green cardstock matting background behind it to help lift it above the washi taped burgundy paper panel

4. the alpha tile stickers are from Freckled Fawn

5. metal paper clip with 'mom' is from a sheet of topics but I removed the packaging so I don't remember who made these; I think I bought them at Paper Wishes website...

6. the large die-cut of Family was part of an old sheet of stick-ons; it is raised off the chocolate brown cardstock with thick foam tape

7. 2 colors of cording were looped around and wedged between the die-cut and the brown backing; 3 amber gold heart-shaped crystal gems were scattered around to symbolize the 3 children my mom has (I'm the oldest!!!) :)
