MIUCB #63 DT inspiration for 1 January 2023

This personal paper-crafting blog post is featuring my design team inspiration for my commitment with Mix It Up challenge blog! #63 is about anything goes with an option of  'no stamping'. 

The MIUCB #63 runs from January 1-February 15, 2023. 

Off and on throughout 2022 I used a few acrylic paints and a gold glitter tempera paint for some mixed media experimenting sometimes with just dabbing and swirling and sometimes with stencils. 

I'm continuing to use acrylic paints and 2 stencils for a New Year's Day card. =

MTTCC #47 Theme is Elves or Gnomes starting 11 November 2022

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! As I keep saying every 2 weeks, my heart gets excited about crafting Christmas cards! This one is no exception. The layout did bother me a bit but instead of doing a horizontal, my focal image appeared better to me in a vertical slimline form.

My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog's #47 theme requires elves or gnomes. It's okay to use just 1 like I have. Online talented friend Mary Smith (Createful Heart Design) drew this adorable envelope- holding gnome.

6. an old white stamp pad was applied with smearing motions in order to give the paper scraps' edges a snowy touch

MIUCB DT project for 1 November 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!! My heart's excited to share another terrific mixed media card that I made for my design team commitment for Mix It Up Challenge Blog!!

MIUCB's #62 launches November 1 for six weeks!!! It's anything goes theme with the option technique being whatever you choose. I chose to use another section from a full sheet I did of acrylic paint dabbing using 3 hues (pink, blue, and purple) topped with some gold glitter tempera paint dabbing. This was done this summer with still about 60% remaining of the painted white cardstock sheet.  

I've also used a white glitter decorative tape, a white dazzle/sticker "Thanks", white enamel dots, and a gold rose die-cut for embellishment accents.

June 2020 Week 2 colors challenge and 2nd turn to be hostess for the no 22 of 52 CCT blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is very happy to be serving as hostess for the merry month of June 2020 at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge blog. We have a monthly rotation of challenge prompts and Week 2 of each month is a color(s) challenge picked by the hostess from the design team. I decided to go with my 2 favorites with a metallic added so there are 3 colors that need to be included. We're okay with white and black (especially for sentiments) to be used. Otherwise stick closely to my picked trio: pink, purple, and gold!!!

This color trio is very non-traditional but how refreshing it is to creatively look through what you have and see what you can do. I could have done something like picked a white doily and added pink and/or purple and/or gold to it but I did have some white and gold pine tree stickers that I colored with 2 shades of purple/violet to add a bit of lavender hue to add some distinction from the patterned paper they are mounted on. Celebrating with Contemporary Flair: for #22-20 at 52 CCT blog

Isn't this a modern vibe for a Christmas card?!!?!
Notes:
1. the base 5" x 7" folded card is made with a gold "Honeycomb" cardstock available from Astrobrights/Neenah
2. the white with pink patterned paper and the white w/ gold Christmas pine tree stickers are from The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby
3. the gold glitter decorative tape = not sure; the roll has been in my craft stash for a long time; same for the 3 gem dots (bright pink, a magenta pinkish-purple, and a dark purple) that are from a multi-hue set of gems
4. the mauve pink and white patterned cardstock is part of a scrap section left of a 12" square from a collection by My Mind's Eye
5. the lavender foam snowflake stick-on is from Oriental Trading (bulk package of 5 different colors that I purchased maybe 10 years ago!!!)

All of these combined for a card with lots more of gold and pink and less purple/lavender with visual vitality! Refreshing change from reds and greens or lots of wintry blues!!

I used my selected Week 1 sketch seen last week again for this card. I thought I'd see how different I could visually change but still stay very close to the sketch design. What do you think?

June 2020 Week 1 Sketch Challenge and turn to be hostess for no 21 of 52 CCT blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My arts and crafts spirit is thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the June hostess for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog! My heart is very happy! If you are a 52 CCT blog follower you know there is a monthly rotation of challenge 'themes' or prompts and Week 1 is always a sketch. I got to pick the sketch and its very close to what I submitted from Inspired By challenge blog's Laurel Seabrook.

For the Christmas card I crafted to be my inspiration contribution for the design team has patterned papers and a few embellishments that are from a scrapping kit I pulled together in mid-May. Generally I wouldn't have used these for a winter holiday project but I want to see how many layouts and/or cards I can get out of what I compiled for CKC blog and TGSB blog. The banner shaped labels wouldn't normally be used on a card or a layout but I thought the colored borders helped add another repeat of the bright green and reds. The bling letter stickers, roses, and dotted corner brackets (actually a frame I cut apart on diagonal) were part of a box of little scraps, washi tapes, and other embellishments to go with the mid-May kit. So this is some of the background story for--

For non-traditional Christmas prints, isn't this card uplifting and cheery?!!?!
*The Paper Studio = red and white floral cardstock and the lime green and white chevron paper
* Webster Pages= The red and cream dotted frame cut apart into corner brackets
* Art Skills = the silver glitter and bling/gem lettering stickers
* unknown = for the labels and for the roses (sticker); both have been in my supply stash for quite awhile

And I want to make sure that I don't forget to credit Laurel's original sketch that I submitted to the blog owner for usage: (note: she has currently suspended Sketchy Saturday and is taking a break from her Inspired By challenge blog but you can still find links to access the sketch designs she created...weeks of them! She has Danni Reid serving as guest host during her R & R break.)

Her sketch got rotated and the snowflakes/embellishments got a rotation shift too. We allow sketch flipping and rotation and scale proportion adjustments (like wanting to make a square card instead of a rectangle one). Otherwise the placement of your pieces like the gray/green areas and snowflakes (can be any motif or lettering) should be pretty close to what is shown in the candy cane striped badge sketch layout image up above.

The banner labels with lettering are kept to 3 to replace the 3 snowflakes shown in the sketch. The white with red floral patterned cardstocks are not as deep as the green areas shown in the sketch but are placed about the same as in the sketch. The green and white chevron was a scrap section so I just went with it even though it did give a deeper margin/border HOWEVER it created an opportunity to add the extra corner brackets...which I happen to like very much! They add more red even though it is a darker tone compared to the other lighter values of reds.

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! The 3rd week of every month for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is a theme prompt type challenge and our DT host for April, Hali, has chosen an interesting combination of forest and deer.

She wants to see both on your Christmas card(s)! Luckily I had this great collection from Pink Paislee called "Together for Christmas" that has the patterned cardstocks, striped washi tape, the scalloped-edge die-cut and the tree die-cut! Perfect for this theme!

c. white with gold edge metallic foil "Merry Christmas" sentiment is a dazzle sticker from Paper Wishes website (comes from a set of sheets that are a variety of foils)
d. foam dot adhesives in different sizes to lift up the die-cuts
e. I chose to use triangles for the 2 papers and have the diagonal center area to repeat the points of the trees' branches but also to allude to mountains and hillsides--clever of me, don't you think?!?!!!

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity! I love Easter Sunday so that's my 'heart' focus for this posting! As a rainy day refreshes the Earth so does a symbolic rainy day have the power to reawaken our spirits. God has restored my soul over and over again and for that I've subtly paired together the umbrella girl digital image from The Paper Shelter with huge paper raindrops and the "He restores my soul" cling vinyl sticker.

Hopefully, you've received some new crafting goodies during this holiday season (or maybe you treated yourself like I did!!!) that you can use for this challenge instead of adding to your hoarding. Don't we get that way??!!! The products are just too pretty to actually use!

They remind me of wallpaper and fabric that I've seen from the 1940s. The white, green, and red multipatterned paper reminds me more of stuff from my childhood and younger teen years (late 1960s-early 1970s).
