Shaker Card Theme Challenge for August 2020 for A Place To Start Blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh, I'm so glad I had a bit of creative mojo kick in to make and get this card submitted right before it goes live!!! Yikes! Yes. And the credit goes to some Webster Pages products I received several months ago that center on the topic of jewels...gems..."You are far more precious than jewels/rubies".

Friendship: You Are a Gem card for August 2020 APTS blog DT project=

Link= APTS blog's August 2020 Create a Shaker card challenge posting
https://hereisaplacetostart.blogspot.com/2020/08/august-2020-challenge-create-shaker-card.html

*hopefully mine will get edited in by Chana; I had edited in just before it went live, so I must have been a few seconds too late....still check out to see what the others created!! Lots of variety in techniques and topics!!!

Some notes about the design:
a. Shaker/Object-filled pocket has lots of layers:
    i. teal with white dots cardstock is from My Mind's Eye
ii. recycled clear film packaging was cut to the same size as the transparency and the teal print; tape runner was used to glue 3 sides as well as attach the layers together; after filling the clear film pocket then the top short edge was glued shut
iii. white diamond print transparency is from a cut-apart sheet from Webster Pages as is the pastel colored diamond cut-apart card that is 1 of the filler items inside the pocket
b. the diamond patterned paper strip on the right side is from Webster Pages; however it came as white with purple 'facet' lines; I selected many colored pencils to fill in and try to replicate those hues seen on the cut apart card. I LOVE how this turned out!! The brownish gold sections were first colored with a light brown and then I covered with my gold glitter paint pen!
c. a clear-based Scripture sticker was placed over the top pocket layer that's the diamond transparency section.
d. odd bits and pieces from an embellishments bag that's been sitting on my craft work table this summer is the source for other items in the pocket
e. a row of 'gems' accent the card
f. the friendship cardstock message stickers are from Webster Pages
g. the mauve pink patterned cardstock is from My Mind's Eye
h. the yellow base's cardstock is from Neenah

MTTC Blog challenge no 436 Christmas in July theme

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My body and brain were overloaded with LOTS to do all day long on the day of deadline with a card to make. I'm already on a specific Christmas card making challenge blog, so I decided to give myself the prompt of an all green card.

Dumpster diving was next. Kidding! Stash treasure hunt--yes! I've got 4 shoe box size containers inside the house currently. I've got more Christmas and winter season supplies out in the garage; probably 2 or 3 boxes I believe. It was so difficult to find green-only Christmas products. If I would allowed green and white...lots more options. Extremely difficult but I kept it to all green. Base card was made with solid green cardstock 5" x 7". And then 3 scraps with the center one coming from a Christmas paper pad collection.

Accents are from various suppliers such as Webster Pages for alpha stickers, Pen + Gear for washi tape, and Bo Bunny for the green flower die-cut.

#436 All Green Season's Greetings Christmas card=

green glitter paint pen was applied to the center of the flower along with the accenting on the petals

and the flower is raised off the background paper scrap with a round adhesive foam dot.

Remember: you can do anything Christmas for your project, too; and it doesn't need to be a card either. Check the MTTC posting for details but I'm pretty sure you could make a tag, a Christmas party invite, a Christmas treat bag topper, a Christmas theme candy bar wrapper, etc.

Flowers Theme Challenge starting 6 July 2020 for APTS blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm very thankful to live in the USA! My parents and grandparents put a strong love bond into me for this country. Our 200+ years have had its ups and downs but overall it has been a wonderful country for me to live in for the past 57 years. I am looking forward to what's ahead.

I was born on Flag Day and even represented Betsy Ross for my 8th grade class during our school's Bicentennial celebrations back in '76. (Yea!!!)

This card is for my high school co-valedictorian niece! Instead of doing school colors, I thought I'd go with a spring floral theme and soft muted pastel colors. She always makes me think of pretty pastel flowers when I hear her name mentioned. {APTS blog= flowers theme for July; floral papers, floral stamping, floral die-cuts, etc.}

Congratulations card for July 2020 APTS blog=

MTTC blog no 435 Coloring on Kraft Paper technique challenge starts 26 June 2020

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh, mylanta! This new challenge had me a bit stumped and I procrastinated almost too long! ugh...I've printed on kraft paper a few times before but I think it has been for autumn harvest themes. However I'm way overdue to send an anniversary card to my nephew so that started a search before suppertime to look in my saved freebie images folder for something appropriate for a wedding anniversary. #435 Coloring on Kraft Paper technique challenge at My Time To Craft challenge blog starts on June 26 for a fortnight.

Hence this jigsaw puzzle heart filled with coloring pencils in 3 shades of blue, gray, and several variations of pinks and mauve/raspberry tones. The 3 patterned papers were part of scrapbooking kit for June 2020 for CKC as well as some of the embellishments.

I'm debating about personalizing this before I mail it. But enough analysis, here's the debut of:

You two fit together like pieces in a puzzle card:

#435 MTTC blog post link= http://mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/06/challenge-435-colouring-on-kraft.html
*Note: another DT member prepared blog post an hour earlier or so than our deadline; so my card photo should get edited in sometime on June 26th. There are time zone variations within the team. I'm in the central USA and others are in England and elsewhere.....

Isn't this such a lovely card?!!?! It's a one base layer card (sky blue cardstock 5" x 7") and I love the haphazard placement along with the color repetition!!!

*********************************

the scrapbooking kit that I put together for CKC blog for this month of June had the 3 patterned paper:
*mosaic tile print and the small text print papers are from My Mind's Eye
*the large love text print paper is from Webster Pages
*the puffy hearts and stars were put into my kit (and I think they are from CTMH) and are visible in the first photo shown here:

The mosaic tile looking patterned paper is just visible in the above photo between the black and white buffalo check paper and a solid mauve/dusty rose paper on the right side.

The small print text patterned paper and large love text patterned paper are very visible in these different views of the papers I selected to be in my copy cat kit. I've made 1 notebook size layout, 2 traveler notebook layouts, and I think at least 4 cards with my June kit! And I've still got papers and embellishments left!!!

June 2020 Week 3 theme challenge of snowflakes for no 23 at 52 CCT blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart is super excited to share this great trifecta of a Christmas card! At 52 Christmas Card Throwdown each week of the month (we take 5th weeks off) the challenges rotate. Week 1 is a sketch. Week 2 is a color(s). Week 3 is a theme or recipe. Week 4 is a technique or a stash. This is Week 3 and as hostess I picked "snowflakes" to be the theme.

The trifecta is that I used Week's 1 sketch, Week's 2 color trio, and Week's 3 snowflakes theme. The combination has made a very glamorous non-traditional Christmas card!

Pink, Purple, and Gold NOEL Christmas card=

Please note:
It is my desire to combine the previous June challenges together for my #23-20 design team project. I wanted to see if I could creatively put together a card from items out of my stash without going out and buying something new.

This is not a blog requirement. This is just my own creative motivation for this week. Here are the 2 previous June challenge badges in case you've just discovered my blog or 52 CCT blog (or have forgotten due to the craziness of modern life!)=

Supply notes:
a. purple cardstock base = Neenah
b. patterned paper = bought in a 3 set paper pad at Dollar Tree
c. the 3 different sized pink and/or purple stickers are from a Sticker Book by Pen + Gear/Walmart
d. snowflake-type medallions = I think were bought at Dollar Tree; due to their slick plastic surface, the card shifted on the scanner glass! ugh....

April 2020 Week 4 or 16th Week of 52 CCT Blog featuring technique challenge

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This posting features my creative goal for the year to make a Christmas card every week. With the commitment to be on the design team for 52 CCT blog we are now on our 16th week of Christmas card-making!

Week 4 is typically either a technique or a specified stash item that needs to be included on your Christmas card. Our April 2020 host is Hali and she wants us to use a herringbone patterning of paper strips (or it could be washi tape or ribbon). I decided to do a personal challenge to format the pieces as a circular ornament.

Herringbone 25 Ornament card:

I should have taken time to do a photograph of this at an angle because as I'm typing this, the card is angled on top of my printer with the lights reflecting off the gold foil! Oh it so pretty! The gold glitter dots at each corner and the gold decorative tape and the red glitter foam bow are also sparkling!!!

Sometimes I just amaze myself with how wonderful a card turns out! :)

I'm not going to rush to make another though because measuring the strips and piecing all of the bits onto the plain cardstock took about 2 hours I think. But this was worth it when you get such a marvelous result!

Easter or Spring theme challenge no 164 at S4fC blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity! I love Easter Sunday so that's my 'heart' focus for this posting! As a rainy day refreshes the Earth so does a symbolic rainy day have the power to reawaken our spirits. God has restored my soul over and over again and for that I've subtly paired together the umbrella girl digital image from The Paper Shelter with huge paper raindrops and the "He restores my soul" cling vinyl sticker.

To add some springtime touches are the butterflies and snail.

The power of rainy days card:

Candy Cake or Ice Cream theme challenge no 163 for S4fC blog starting 27 March 2020

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart thought of a friend that has been very supportive in my teaching efforts so I decided to create a bookmark with images from #163's sponsor, Oddball Art by Lizzy Love for the new theme challenge at Scrapping 4 fun Challenges blog. The set had lots of images so I selected two--muffin and the cobbler/cake. To really draw attention I decided to print on bright orange cardstock. The sentiments are similar to what was in the set but I typed my own in order to get a good font size to fit within the parameters of the bookmark.

Thanks, sweetie! You're a peach!=

Adorable, isn't it??!! The colors of the papers and embellishments coordinated very well! Lots of options with this theme, so make sure to participate and also go to the S4fC blog to see what the other members of the DT crew made with their images.

c. the striped and dotted cardstocks are pieces of a blank note card from American Greetings that I upcycled to help drive the color palette for the bookmark.
d. big gem dots are from Crafter's Choice
e. a gold metallic pen and a gold glitter paint pen were used on the OA images along with colored pencils in dark orange, yellow, and brown
f. the cotton candy cone and cherry topped cupcake die-cuts are from a collection line that is part of American Crafts (sorry, not sure the exact name)
g. the yellow and white chevron striped cardstock scrap is from My Mind's Eye line of products available from American Crafts
