MTTC #487 Theme is Ocean/Seaside starting 29 July 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is happy to share some easy ocean seaside themed cards using wood die-cuts from Dollar Tree!!! YES! I will be showing 1 card with a sailboat and another with a seahorse.

MTTC's #487 theme has a bit of flex for craft artisans. It can be beachside or it can be underwater or on the water. Ocean or Sea-worthy. July 29-August 11, 2022 with start and end times on these dates at 12am CT/Chicago or 6am UK.

Design Inspiration Project #1 features a wood sailboat colored and glitter painted=

I like the boat being in its faux water setting (blue glitter decorative tape and the muted green with white flecks cardstock)!!!!

Some of the credits: (1) sailboat wood die-cut = Dollar Tree; (2) camping/canoe symbols print cardstock = Lake Life paper pad; (3) rust print, dots, muted green with tiny white flecks cardstocks and the floral die-cut ephemera along with the white card base = Simple Stories card kit; blue glitter decorative and the great adventure sticker are from my stash.

*****

Design Team Commitment #2 featuring a wooden seahorse colored and glitter painted=

Some credits: (1) bold blue glossy cardstock panel on the left is recycled packaging; (2) cork 'ribbon' was bought at Dollar Tree as was the plain wood seahorse; (3) tropical palm leaf with flowers die-cut ephemera is from .....; and (4) postcard and island die-cut ephemera and the white cardstock base card are from Simple Stories' card kit "Wish You Were Here".

These were fun to make!

ATCs made for club swap June 2022 event theme commitments

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! With increasing design team commitments, getting 2 challenge blogs started, and babysitting for 2 month old honorary granddaughter I decided to only commit to 2 ATC theme swaps for June 2022 with For the Love of Cards group/club in Facebook.

The themes are Alphabet Letter B and Camping. Letter B features a bunny with bear stamp and lots of blues. Camping features this stunning patterned cardstock from Craft Consortium with some twine and a wood fish die-cut mini clothespin clip. "Things You Can Encounter While Camping" was my thought for using this particular cardstock print out of the paper pad. :)

Alphabet Letter B= bunny, bib overalls, bear, blue

Camping= Things you might encounter while camping= bear, fish, cabin/ranger station, trees, lake

Easy but cute--each in their own way.

MTTC #486 Theme of Christmas in July for 15 July 2022

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's a mix of excitement and perplexity. MTTC has a sister blog that focuses on Christmas themed cards yet many other non-holiday themed blogs do a special July focus on Christmas cards, so a DT member suggested we capture this opportunity to offer crafters another location to show Christmas cards. Since we haven't specified a particular wintery or holiday topic, that's what caused my perplexity. What to do?

About 2 years ago I got this mostly nontraditional multi print holiday cardstock panel in a clearance box, I think. Because of its nontraditional Christmas colors, it has been in one of my Christmas/winter stash boxes for a long time with me continually thinking 'one of these days'. Card was an easy one to make since the patterned cardstock was very busy. I didn't want to cover it up. A glitter decorative tape strip was given a banner fishtail bottom and the only embellishments (jumbo dots) and the simple sentiment lettering were placed on this dark grape glitter tape.

Card #1= This is "Glad" tidings Christmas card=

Card #2= Let It Snow Christmas card with non-traditional backgrounds=

design notes and vendors: left folded white cardstocks base A2 size with matching envelope; die-cut sentiment is an upcycled gift tag; silver glitter and blue glitter foam snowflake and snowmen are Dollar Tree finds; a silver snowflake dazzle is over the circular design in the bottom center; the 2 print cardstock backgrounds are actually recycled/upcycled tissue box panels!!! YES!!! How resourceful is that??!!!??!?!

My Time To Craft blog Theme #486 competition runs from July 15, 2022 to July 28, 2022.

***It's July 24th and I just discovered that this posting was still in draft mode and I forgot to publish!!! Duh!!! I will share this on my blog. The blue card was made my FB profile photo about a day or two ago, but even then I didn't realize I hadn't finished and published this!!! Crazy!!!

22 July 2022 MTTCC #39 Cutesy Christmas Theme DT cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm just really enjoying creating Christmas cards this year! Haven't been keeping track but I guess I need to start addressing envelopes when I've got a few minutes while supper bakes or waiting for ink or paint to dry on my crafting table! This posting features my design team commitments for My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog. #39 theme is about Cutesy Christmas. What do you think is cute? charming? quirky? Brings a smile to your face?

MTTCC's #39 competition runs from July 22, 2022 to August 4, 2022. Make sure to find time to craft Christmas with us!

#1= Merry Christmas to Santa and the pets!

My first card has these cutesy enamel stickers that I'm sure I used for a card or two last year and I've still have a few more to use before I've bashed the sheet. I've used some non-traditional patterned cardstocks that are from my paper pad I'm trying to bash this year (Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio). I've paired it with a gray textured paper for the scalloped focal background and the green cardstock top-folded base (4.5" x 5.5"). Black inking was used to keep everything from being too intense. Hot Off The Press Dazzles are the maker for the red hologram "MC".

AND

#2= Polar Bear Wish Christmas card

A few design and vendor notes: the enamel polar bear is from the same sheet as those used in card #1; the polar bear themed print paper is from a old paper pad by Martha Stewart. The wish die-cut tag is textured cardstock that I added the blue inked edging. Then I used a lighter blue glitter paint pen to create a spot that looked like the iceberg was cracking! The jewels and ribbon decorative tape are from my stash. The navy blue card mat is DCWV, I think. This made a cutesy wintery themed Christmas card!

Denim Blues Inspired Sympathy Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity card! Sadly, a lifetime close family friend of my husband and his siblings lost his battle with cancer on July 7th. Creatively, I've been wanting to craft something for the denim inspiration at Deanne's challenge blog and thought I'd do a unique sympathy card for the family.

There are 2 different textured specialty cardstocks for the inside panel so using the white blank card with front cover square window was a good artistic opportunity to do something mixed media on the front.

Let's take a sneak peek

Featured elements to take note of:

1. 3 cordings tied on the left--yellow and 2 shades of blue

2. blue acrylic paint, sunflower yellow colored pencil marks, and gold glitter tempera paint

3. gold metallic foil dazzle for the main sentiment (Paper Wishes website)

4. stamp for the secondary sentiment (Hampton Arts, I think)

5. white card with square window opening on front panel with a white envelope came from a set (Studio G)

now some views using my cell phone=

8 July 2022 MTTCC #38 Theme is Snow Globes Christmas Cards DT project

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!! My heart got overjoyed when I spotted this snow globe die-cut and the navy blue snowflake patterned cardstock from Pink Paislee's Together For Christmas (2019).

But more details later. This posting showcases cards made for my design team commitment with My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog. Starting July 8, 2022 the topic challenge #38 is Snow Globes. This was suggested by another DT member and I thought it would be a good one for us to try. Luckily I came across this "Joy To The World" one while searching my stash of winter holiday themed supplies!

Card #1: If We Can Only Shake To Fill The World With Joy Christmas card=

Gold tempera paint was applied to the light blue cardstock top and bottom sections. The gold mirror foil scrap piece came like that in an assortment package. I apologize for not checking the cuts but I like how it copies the gold from the globe base and the word "world".

Silver with blue metallic snowflake dazzles from Paper Wishes website were scattered around the card. Blue glitter decorative tape helped to create a 'table surface' skewed line for the globe to sit on. The light kraft flat card base with matching envelope were bought at The Paper Source website. Overall, simply lovely.

Card #2= Cozy inside the snow globe Christmas card:

Most of the card elements are also from Pink Paislee's Together at Christmas collection. The flat taupe card case with a matching envelope are from Paper Source. The brown glitter deer stickers, aqua green cardstock, and black with kraft checked paper are old stash items. Note: the bottom two rows were cut from the bottom of a sheet with cut-apart elements that included the little snow globe card and I just taped them to the bottom edge of the top half of a sheet from the paper pad to fill the space. Voila'!

MIUCB 1 July 2022 challenge new DT commitment

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My crafty heart is so excited because I was asked to join the design team of Mix It Up challenge blog!! YES!!!

In 2022 the co-owners decided to change the format length of their challenges to SIX weeks which would create 6 challenges per year. I thought I can do this!!! :)

With nervous anticipation I committed to getting my mixed media card ready in early June and hopefully wouldn't be last minute for the team deadline of June 20. Then nerves kicked in thinking about what to do.

Mixed Media Anything Goes card= I had placed a lot of purple, pink, and blue scraps plus washi tapes into my May 2022 kit that hadn't been used so that got me wanting to do a washi tape feature panel. And it spiraled into this---

a. marble-ized looking cardstock for the base; 4.5" wide and 7" high

b. pink cardstock panel is about 4" wide x 5.5" high

c. deep magenta pink cardstock scrap is behind the digital image (freebie I made for HQCB) that I had colored and waiting to be used; the image is only part of a larger multi-elements

d. layered stickers of butterfly and hydrangea with butterfly have been in my stash for awhile; but the mauve pink and gold butterfly is brand new and first of set to be used!

e. 4 washi tape prints (Pen + Gear)

f. silver metallic dazzle (Thinking of You is from Paper Wishes website)

g. blue glitter paint pen was used to outline the pink and the deep magenta cardstocks

re-cap of mixed mediums: different types of stickers (metallic and layered), glitter paint pen, colored pencils for filling in the digi, digi image, & 4 washi tapes.

Mix It Up challenge blog #60  starts July 1, 2022 and runs for 6 weeks closing on August 15, 2022. MIUCB is a techniques focused challenge blog with formats of mixed media, altered art, etc. #60 is a Anything Goes (mixed media) with option of clean and simple.

***************************************

DT card using CAS option=

On a recent Sunday afternoon, I got messy dabbing pink, blue, and purple acrylic paint around a sheet of white cardstock, trying to be random in placements every 3" or so. After giving it some dry time, I came back with gold glitter tempera paint that was dabbed or dotted randomly. I've still got the rest of the sheet yet to use!!!! The gold metallic "Hello" dazzle for a simple sentiment and keeping the layers just to the small paint focal piece as well as the short blue glitter decorative tape and a few more dots of gold glitter paint helped keep this Clean and Simple. Lots of white space.

MLCC blog Theme #45 starts 1 July 2022

***Season's Greetings! I'm excited to be announcing that July 1st is my debut as a design team member of Merry Little Christmas Challenge blog!! YES!! Oh, what joy! In 2022, co-owner Leslie T changed the competitions to last 6 weeks long and to offer 6 per year. That's doable for me.

MLCC Blog makes it even easier for Christmas cardmaking because their challenges are "Anything Christmas Goes". For my 1st DT project, I decided to do a mixed media holly leaves and berries stenciled 3x focus panel. Light green ink was sponged on first. Then red. Then green acrylic paint was applied to most of the stencil.

After it dried, I went back and outlined the holly leaves with 3 different tip-sized black pens. The holly berries were brightened with 4 different red markers. I was trying to achieve variegation over the panel. Then gold glitter tempera paint was dabbed on once most of the card was assembled. The gold thickers and red dot gems were added last.

Merry with holly leaves and berries=

click on the closeup and look for the teeny bits of gold glitter paint scattered around:

Wow! I've used a non-traditional Christmas (or even winter) patterned paper on the left with the traditional red and green holly leaves and berries for the stenciled panel. Thanks to Simple Stories for the stencil sheet and I believe it is American Crafts for the gold thickers (Merry, holly leaves, and holly berries).

2022 July 1 MTTC #485 Theme of Vegetables

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! Doesn't summertime make you think of vegetable gardens? Well, it used to for me, especially growing up. My mom kept lots of summer days busy with canning and freezing. Sitting on the back porch steps snapping beans, husking corn, and popping pea pods were part of that. This July 1st at My Time To Craft challenge blog, we want you to create with the theme of vegetable(s). It can be a mix of them or you can focus on a specific type.

For my DT commitment, my mom, ever supportive, found this photo image of a crafter's counterfeit vegetables in an issue of Country Woman. She thought I should have the page to use! And I have! Whoever the artisan was, he/she took old spindles, painted them, and then add artificial greens for the tops. The creamy white ones could be horseradish. The orange are definitely the carrots. And the reddish-purple could be beets or turnips, maybe. I thought it was cleverly cute! I also like the white wicker basket that they are in.

A Garden Variety Birthday card=

For my 2nd project for my DT commitment, I used rub-on transfers for the vegetables/fungi (mushrooms, beets, and carrots) and the mason jar. Stampin' up for the old "HB" stamp; the Queen Anne's Lace and green with white marks cardstocks are both from the Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio that I'm trying to bash in 2022. Gray scrap and base black cardstocks are from stash. Black stamp pad ink was used on paper edges.

It was made in 2016 but I didn't buy it until late 2017 or early 2018. On January 23, 2022 I had 63 sheets remaining and only 3 scraps. I'm down to 36 sheets with lots of scraps in different sizes!!! There are at least 3 projects made that I can't show yet that are part of what consisted between 63 down to 36. Half of a year to go! and just under half of the original start count to finish!!!!
