MTTC challenge blog Stencil It theme starting 19 March 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My Time to Craft challenge blog's #453 theme is "stencil it". Long before dies, as a teacher, I've had several different sets of stencils that gave you the 'frames' plus the insert. This particular butterfly stencil template has been a favorite. I love to use it for spring birthday and Easter cards.

My niece and her older half-sister have birthdays about two weeks apart, so I decided to make them cards designed similarly. In the photo below, I'm showing the butterfly shape insert from the rectangular frame. Most of the DT crew have used paint or ink stamping with their stencils. I've used mine to trace and cut out the shapes from patterned paper.

a few design notes related to the challenge:

*so many different techniques for using stencils and I decided to use a butterfly frame's center shape stencil as a template for the large focal butterfly on each card

*patterned papers are oldies from my stash

*left side is 5" tall

*right side is 7" tall

a. sorry no links to other challenge blogs due to taking my husband to the ER this afternoon; he's being kept overnight for observation; the hospital has had a new Covid-19/social distancing policy that patient's visitors can not be in the rooms overnight. So I had to come home. I'm going to link to MTTC and then 2 FB groups and that will be it this time. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

APTS challenge blog PICK A SHAPE theme for March 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart stuttered with the chart of all the shape options Chana has for the March 2021 A Place To Start challenge blog!!! So many choices yet I decided to stick with squares and rectangles. I was hoping to go on the angle for diamonds but the layout worked better to stick to a horizontal linear sketch.

For a nephew's recent birthday:

"The World Is A Better Place Cause of You" card=

This is the chart that Chana has shared on the APTS March 2021 blog post. Pick a shape to feature. Chana states that it can be the shape of the card or part of another project or the shape can be the embellishment or sentiment tag/focal. Lots of options.

My card has a rectangle base and background paper as well as cork ribbon. Cut-a-part cards are not quite square. But the little letter tiles are squares. (Darice for the golden yellow flat card base w/ matching envelope; Webster Pages for the cut-a-part cards and letter tiles; checked patterned paper has been in stash for a very long time; cork ribbon and alpha stickers for "You" were bought at Dollar Tree)
