Great Stash Bash April 2020 kit finally made with sneak peek of 2 projects

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!! My heart's been desiring to spend some time scrapping layouts but it's been tough returning to the classroom this year and then having all the remote learning changes thrown into the mix as well! My online commitments were low in numbers today so I got some time in mid-to-late afternoon to make 2 small cards with a completed work kit assembled late last night. The assembled kit follows the formula suggested by Lisa H and Lori S for The Great Stash Bash's April 2020 challenge.

First group of photos will be different parts of the kit:

Above: some of the old and new= the 2 oldest are the large green floral scrap and the bit of contemporary geometric cardstock; the green and white chevron from The Paper Studio is also old, about 2.5 years in my stash
New: scraps of gray and cream cardstocks; and the peek of the orange and green flat cards/envelopes (by Darice that were a Christmas gift from my BFF).

Above: the 2 patterned cardstocks are sides A; scroll down 3 photos for their reverse patterns; and these are NEW from Webster Pages.

Above: New items: silver dazzle stickers, yellow resin frame, and the orange and green flat cards w/ matching envelopes; and Old items: everything else!, embellishments like die-cut accents, floral stickers, border stickers, digital images the 3 journal cards near the yellow frame, and a bit of the floral patterned scraps near the top :)

Top: the beige and white looking buffalo check is a thin TN book that was part of a Webster Pages clearance bundle that just arrived. So that along with the friends phrase stickers laying on top and the snapshots of my BFF and I are part of my new items. The oldest item in the above photo is the set of border stickers sheet that's peeking out below the floral stickers.

Below: the 2 full sheets of patterned cardstock are new arrivals from Webster Pages. They are the reverse sides to the prints shown up 3 photos.

Summary count: Well, I really didn't track the count! There are some small scraps that got cropped  due to trying to crop out my dining chair's cushion! And all of those are old. Only 2 newer papers but with having reverse side prints, it's like having 4 sheets! Embellishments: cording, the floral stickers, etc. for old; the newest is that yellow resin frame; and the stash item of washi tape was forgotten but I've got loads and I'll try to feature some when I get the TN's first layout made. Color inspiration for my kit following TGSB's prompt comes from the spectrum palette from CKC blog's kit shown further in the post.

2nd part is the TGSB April 2020 prompt badge and the blog page badge:

3rd part is to show that some of this assembled kit is some of the leftovers of my CKC blog mini kit:

The color spectrum is the key color palette from the inspiration kit CKC has posted for April 2020. That's what I tried to focus both my kits with.  Below are 2 snapshots of the kit I assembled for my copy-cat version. The 2nd pic has 2 photos that I've already used and some of the die-cut accents shown to the left of the pics have already been too!

Two of the florals shown on the left main papers are being carried over into TGSB along with most of those small scraps.

4th part is a teaser sneak peek of the 2 small cards. I'll make a follow-up post with 2 along with TGSB kit in 2-3 days from now.

April 2020 Week 4 or 16th Week of 52 CCT Blog featuring technique challenge

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This posting features my creative goal for the year to make a Christmas card every week. With the commitment to be on the design team for 52 CCT blog we are now on our 16th week of Christmas card-making!

Week 4 is typically either a technique or a specified stash item that needs to be included on your Christmas card. Our April 2020 host is Hali and she wants us to use a herringbone patterning of paper strips (or it could be washi tape or ribbon). I decided to do a personal challenge to format the pieces as a circular ornament.

Herringbone 25 Ornament card:

I should have taken time to do a photograph of this at an angle because as I'm typing this, the card is angled on top of my printer with the lights reflecting off the gold foil! Oh it so pretty! The gold glitter dots at each corner and the gold decorative tape and the red glitter foam bow are also sparkling!!!

Sometimes I just amaze myself with how wonderful a card turns out! :)

I'm not going to rush to make another though because measuring the strips and piecing all of the bits onto the plain cardstock took about 2 hours I think. But this was worth it when you get such a marvelous result!

Copy Cat Kit for April 2020 in mini size with 3 projects for CKC Blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart has desired to do some scrapbooking but it's been several months since I've even achieved one layout! Yikes! So a couple of days ago I grabbed some old scraps and bits leftover from different projects this past year and quickly put together a mini kit.

But honestly I forget to include some of the embellishments I had set aside to my left side when I was working! Another yikes! Then it seemed like I needed a few other bits to finish 2 sides of a pocket page and a quick-n-easy card.

But first of all, here are 2 snapshots of my mini kit for April 2020 @ CKC blog=

Above: the scraps of different sizes I pulled focusing on a few shades of coral, pinks, a few reds, mint greens, spring/yellow greens, grass green, and some minty/teal blues.

Below: a quick card--flat style--with base and matching envelope from Darice; a journal/pocket card from a cut apart sheet from My Mind's Eye, a bit of border sticker, and 1 butterfly stick-on. A handwritten short note on the back and I was able to get it made and ready to mail in under a half hour! (closer to 15 minutes actually!)

Below: the scraps without the photos and some embellishments that were laying on top; I think for pulling stuff quickly out of various folders to create a mini kit of scraps, I managed to get a lot of the tones matched! Yea!

The monthly inspiration kit selected to counterfeit at CKC blog:

Below: this is a custom color palette to help isolate the key hues from Orchard Path Kits March 2020 picked to be the inspiration for scrappers to copy=

CKC blog badge:

Some views of each side of the pocket page I made. I kept it simple so that attention would be on the photos and the stacked die-cut style stick-on embellishments.

Some of the vendors of papers include: The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby, SEI, My Mind's Eye, Astrobrights solid color cardstocks, and a few old, old stash ones that I've forgotten who they belong to.

Golf cart pic and the birds nest treats were taken Easter weekend 2018.

**********************************
The pocket pages were used for a DT project that I featured in a blog post yesterday for Scrapping 4 fun Challenges blog. Only the "Bird's nest treats" side is part of the S4fC blog post. For my personal post yesterday there are closeup typed cropped scans of both sides included. So either visit S4fC blog or use the 'older post' link at the end of this to see more and get specific details about this link-up.

CKC blog got a 'shout-out' and I used the same link for the April 2 "Just the Gist" post as I've included up above.

This posting will also be shared at PPPDTC group on Facebook and also Mixed Media Creativity group on FB.

Anything Goes with diecuts or embossing folder Theme no 165 at S4fC blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This posting features some snapshots I received recently from my mother who has been updating her photo albums of her grandchildren. The older I get, the less snapshots she seems to have so even with this pic being 2 years old shows us doing something other than eating or being at church!

Scrapping 4 fun Challenges Blog's #165 has a variation on Anything Goes theme this time. The blog owner is looking for die-cuts or embossing folder to be used. Or you could do like a few on the DT have done and use both in your project. I encourage you to use the link to visit the S4fC posting and see the wide variety of fabulous projects by the DT.

I chose to use 2 snapshots from Easter weekend 2018 to create flip sides of a pocket page type scrapbook page. The cardstocks are leftovers in my scrap stash from the last year. So that's been a great feeling to get some more whittled away.

April 2020 Week 3 or 15th Week of 52 CCT blog with theme of forest and deer

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! The 3rd week of every month for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is a theme prompt type challenge and our DT host for April, Hali, has chosen an interesting combination of forest and deer.

She wants to see both on your Christmas card(s)! Luckily I had this great collection from Pink Paislee called "Together for Christmas" that has the patterned cardstocks, striped washi tape, the scalloped-edge die-cut and the tree die-cut! Perfect for this theme!

#15-2020 Deer in the forest card for my DT commitment with 52 CCT=

Above: without the embellishment of a deer clothespin
Below: with the embellishment of a deer clothespin (it came as plain wood and I layered gray marker with gold glitter paint pen on it)

a. clear gems, gold glitter decorative tape have been in stockpile for over 1 year
b. graph grid index card scrap= Pen + Gear purchased at Wal-Mart in the office/planner supply section
c. white with gold edge metallic foil "Merry Christmas" sentiment is a dazzle sticker from Paper Wishes website (comes from a set of sheets that are a variety of foils)
d. foam dot adhesives in different sizes to lift up the die-cuts
e. I chose to use triangles for the 2 papers and have the diagonal center area to repeat the points of the trees' branches but also to allude to mountains and hillsides--clever of me, don't you think?!?!!!

Here Comes The Rain theme fortnight challenge reveal at MTTC blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh, I'm excited about revealing this darling card due to being creative and truly getting some mixed media mojo going! Base flat card is a teal green and the background is a charcoal slate gray. Onto the background I dabbed a mid-teal blue and purple using a makeup sponge. Then I came back over with a darker blue but cut a divot out of the sponge to alter the shape of how pressing with my fingertip transfers the ink. Then using that same divot area, I applied silver glitter paint pen over and over again as I made little accents around the card. Some scattered navy blue pearl gems to look like bigger raindrops were final embellishments.

Just because it's a rainy day card for MTTC blog=

Second half of April 2020 theme is Flowers at TCCC blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity! I've got to give you a bit of background on the image from this challenge's sponsor SheepSki Designs. The image come with the camera lens empty or with a tiny lighthouse scene, so since this is a flowers theme I chose the plain lens that I swirled some indigo colored pencil to shade it. Since I chose an digital image that didn't come with flowers I decided to have flowers in the patterned papers. That led to creating some posy-shaped accents of coordinating papers to the background patterned paper.

#240 Take a snapshot! card for design team commitment with TCCC blog=
