Loving my AA #94 DT card and shaped tag with AG theme on 15 May 2025

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity Blog!

why: This post's purpose is to showcase a new DT inspiration card for #94 at AA or Ally's Angels. It's a challenge blog with anything goes theme each offset month. My choice this time was to punch the circle (sky/inked) then ink the front panel. Next was to stamp the sentiment within the circle. Lastly adding the embossed stickers and little hearts and dots to create a scene. That was describing steps for Project #1 Llama card. For #2, clear glue was used to adhere the little parachute guy to the chalkboard tag. Overnight dry time was needed. The tag came with the natural beige cording so I added red and black cording, added a bunch of little enamel dots to look like other stuff floating in the sky. Colorful alpha stickers arranged in a staggered order than completes the fun tag

when: #94 starts May 15 and ends June 12, 2025.

what: PROJECT #1Llama Llama Red Pajama ....NO!!! It's "Everyday Magic" encouragement card.

how-to notes for #1:

1. white cardstock folded card base (with envelope) from pack/set A2 size = Crafter's Square

2. punched a 2.25" circle  = EK Success Tool

3. Tranquil Tide stamp pad/ink = SU for the punched opening/look like night sky

4. Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, Emerald Envy and and more Tranquil Tide = SU stamp pads

5. "Everyday Magic" stamp = Never Grow Up stamp set by Shimelle [new for me]

6. cactus and llama embossed stickers = Good Vibes set by Crate Paper [new for me]

7. heart enamel stickers = Fancy Pants Designs

8. dot enamel stickers = Freckled Fawn

where to share & link up #1 Llama card =

A. Stamps & Fun = Creativity; started May 5/open for 2 weeks; Theme is CAS w/ stamping; MY llama card has stamped sentiment and stars inside the punched circle area and card is inked but has pockets of inked spots without papers, stickers, ribbon, etc. I consider it clean and simple.

OUAT or Once Upon A Time's January 2023 Challenge is The Snowy Day children's book

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! On this personal paper-crafting blog post I am focusing on my DT inspiration card project for Once Upon A Time challenge blog. This blog launched in August 2022. The premise of this challenge blog is to create crafting projects inspired by a featured children's book. You can recreate the cover art with your own creative spin, take elements from the cover art, use inspiration from the content, etc. For January 2023, Deanne picked "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats as the special book for the competition.

I've made my TSD cover art re-creation as a wintery get well card. I've added snowflakes. Used "Get Well Soon" as the sentiment title. Instead of the little boy wearing a hooded cape-style jacket, I've used a free clipart image colored in red, yellow, and green. Those colors are to replace the traffic light. (Ah! See what I did there!)

GET WELL SOON

*sorry about my cards lately being slightly tilted in the scanned photos; can't seem to get them positioned leveled

I am really pleased with how this turned out. I have an aunt by marriage who had surgery this past Monday, so I will be sending this to her.

Some design/vendor note credits:

a. the boy clipart image = The Clipart Library website (free black and white image)

b. all cardstocks are from my stash (white cardstock is recycled/upcycled candy bar tray part of packaging), black marker, blue ink pad used to edge the white cardstock, colored pencils for the boy's suit, brown crayon for the face, and medium size white glitter snowflake stickers

c. the little silver and white snowflakes and the GWS sentiment are dazzles/stickers from Hot Off The Press (Paper Wishes website)

d. the purple cardstock base started as a 6" square but I trimmed it to 5" square

2022 August 26 MTTC Theme #489 Fantasy Whimsical Charm

Greetings from Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Today's post features MTTC Theme #489--

Fantasy Whimsical Charm

for August 26-September 8, 2022.

Competition start time and end time are the same for dates shown of 12 am CT/Chicago or 6am UK. (Adjust to wherever you are in the world.)

I was a bit stumped at first when this theme was suggested by several DT members. My brainstorming results were mermaids, trolls, gnomes, elves, fairies, Alice and Wonderland, etc. But I decided to go with whimsy charm. Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine" had elements that would work perfectly for 2 cards as my DT commitments.

Inspiration card #1:

Some credits are:

(1) Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine" = sentiment, background panel, rainbow, plaid heart, bird, flower row, plaid border, mouse, and the folded white card base; (2) pink with little white x print cardstock scrap = Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio; and (3) a teeny bit of yellow scrap to make the little smiling sun came from my stash. The word sunshine was colored bright yellow in order to give the illusion of sunshine and provide more yellow color on the card.

Inspiration card #2:

Some credits for card #2: the pink with little white x print scrap and the pink with green flowers scrap = Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio; the flower, sentiment banner, bird, and butterfly die-cuts are from the Simple Stories card kit "Sending Sunshine"; the green and white chevron print paper scrap = The Paper Studio; the black and silver glitter decorative tape and green cardstock are from my stash.

2022 MTTC April 8 #479 Springtime Insects Theme DT card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! The 2 featured cards I've made are showing butterflies, my favorite insects! I've heard the quote many times calling butterflies as fluttering flowers or flying flowers! The complexity of color and design in their wings and how graceful they look has always fascinated me. So when as a DT member I learned about this theme, I knew I had many to choose from out of my stash.

My Time To Craft challenge blog #479 theme is Springtime Insects.

Released on April 8, 2022 at 12am CST/6am UK and will be open for participants until April 21, 2022 at 12am CST/6am UK.

Card #1= Pink and Black It's a Beautiful Life Birthday card

Card #1 design notes:

1. base is black, top-folded, 4.25" wide x 5.5" high, Pen + Gear

2. pink background panel, Astrobrights/Neenah

3. pink and white stripe panel, pink with white Xs, and the white with pink scallops, Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio (this is my 2022 selected papers to bash this year; read earlier posts made in late January and early February about this)

4. the pink tonal floral strip and the featured sentiment journal card that was trimmed down are from My Mind's Eye, a collection I bought several years ago

5. embellishments: pale pink crystal gem, message stamp, black ink pad, and the corrugated backed butterfly are all stash items; I took off the corrugated butterfly layer and stamped it black in order to disguise the kraft color since this card also fits for a Pink and Black card swap challenge that only allowed white as an additional neutral

Card #2: Hello and Happy Birthday card=

Isn't this lovely! I'm glad I kept the color combination simplified. When I started assembling items to make this, I thought I wanted the base to be a pale peach/blush pink or to go to a bold orange but the chocolate brown won the dilemma!

Design notes for Card #2=

1. brown cardstock base is about 6" wide and 4.25" high;

2. the pale green and white floral cardstock; Mint Berry pack from The Paper Studio

3. the olive green and crinkled copper/bronze specialty paper are scraps; cut as 2" squares

4. the white hello is a 'dazzle' from Paper Wishes website

5. the butterflies, amber heart crystal gems, sentiment stamp, black ink pad; stash items

6. an aqua/teal blue marker was used to add outline contrast to the thin font lines of the stamp used to make 'happy birthday'

ATC--"What's buzzing?"

A few design notes about the ATC/artist trading card:

1. typical ATC size of 2.5" x 3.5"; thick kraft cardstock for base

2. the white with spring green Moroccan tile patterned paper is very old Colorbok bold print photo mat paper pad

3. the green and gold chevron stripe 'tag'--what's shown is only about half; the flower and bee are stash item embellishments; I just got a bunch of tag sets and I've already forgotten who the vendor is on this...sorry

Easter Card with floral and scalloped focal

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! My heart's excited that I've made another Easter card! I love Easter Sunday almost as much as Christmas! My favorite Bible passage is John 14: 1-6. Such hope from those verses! We also became honorary grandparents this afternoon with the arrival of little Aubrey Bethany! My husband has been like a dad mentor figure and garage buddy to Aubrey's dad. Aubrey's mom is the former pet parent of our "Mr. Bennett". Little Aubrey weighs just under 6 pounds at 5 lbs. 10 oz., so I might have to shop for a few preemie outfits tomorrow. Not sure if they have any small stuff. We're hoping to meet Aubrey either tomorrow or Monday!!!! Exciting!

But I've digressed. This Easter card is not for a DT commitment, so I will link it to other challenge blogs and share with several Facebook groups.

Floral Scalloped Focal Easter card=

Design notes:
1. white cardstock base 5" wide x 7" high
2. pale pink cardstock inner base is 1/4" smaller than the white base
3. pink tonal stripe print paper has been in my stash for a long time
4. more white cardstock was used for the stenciled scalloped focal; stencils from Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes website
5. pine green, grass green, magenta, purple markers
6. purple, red, and green glitter paint pens used on the center flower of the focal piece
7. gold cardstock scrap, fine black ink pen, and clear gems complete the card

Inspiration for pulling out the old stencil pack from HOTP/PW came from seeing Donna W's inspiration DT card at Four Seasons Challenge Blog. THANKS, Donna W!!!! I haven't used any of the stencils from the set for probably several years. Springtime is the perfect time to use the scalloped 'circle' and the flower (flipped to get opposite direction and then I altered it slightly to get a center straighter stem flower).

2022 MTTC March 25 #478 Theme of Using Lots of Layers min of 3

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart and spirit didn't get too excited as I started this project. I'm thinking like oh lots of layers! I do that all the time! Easy peasy! It wasn't until I started building the color palette of rich burgundy, magentas, and vibrant purples and that use of flower petal specialty paper that I got energized for my first inspiration project. Then the layered floral and insect stickers became the perfect accents!

My Time To Craft challenge blog (MTTC) has a new competition running from March 25 to April 7, 2022 [#478] with a theme/format requirement of using 3 or more layers on your paper crafted project. I like to do 'messy' layers. I can do structured layers that use a matting kind of framed look, however I really enjoy stretching my brain cells to arrange and rearrange until I get a look that is pleasing to my eyes. My fellow DT crew members have done their tags or cards in the other structured style. So make sure to see their projects on the MTTC posting.

MTTC design team inspiration project #1:

Springtime Birthday card= with 5 layers of cardstock or patterned papers & 1-2 layers of embellishments=

The gold stamped sentiment says 'congratulations'.

I found 'time to craft' a 2nd card for this theme! MTTC design team inspiration project #2=

Card #2= To our Anchor--hb or happy birthday card for DT inspiration (7 paper layers!!!)

************

Card #2 Design notes:

A. the aqua blue and black are specialty papers; so in person there is some interesting texture and the black also has ragged edging that I put at the bottom edge

B. the anchor is a free coloring page image that was colored with colored pencils and fussy cut

C. the triangle shaped red and white stripe scrap is from the Mint Berry paper pad that I'm trying to bash this year; also the red with white dot strip

D. the grayish-black lettering alphas are from Freckled Fawn; hb which is code for happy birthday alphas and silver glitter star are from Crafter's Choice

----------------

Card #2's other challenge blogs and FB groups linked or shared are:

1. Gem of a Challenge blog; anything goes; link-

https://pinkgemchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2022/03/card-making-craft-challenge-anything.html

2.  100 Pattern Papers Challenge FB group; I didn't start the year with 100 patterned papers pulled from my stash to work with this year but the Mint Berry paper pad that had 63 out of 80 remaining sheets. I've been stalled at having 51 sheets left but lots of scraps...I'm trying bit by bit!

*****************************

BONUS CARD #3 was able to be made (lots of family birthdays and anniversaries in February to early April)

To our family's 'solid brick', the guy who works all hours and crazy shifts (hence the clock die-cut), Happy Birthday "B"=

There are 7 layers of paper or cardstock: starting with the dark brown, yellow, green, dark red, light beige, orange, and the B/brick image paper. The khaki kraft brown in the background is a sheet used to block the printer's scanner light.

A combination of alpha tiles to give a graffiti art wall kind of extension look next to the B are from Webster Pages (green) and Freckled Fawn (golden yellow). The B with the brick wall image was a free coloring page found on the internet. The chipboard kind of die-cut stick-ons have been in my stash for a long time.
