APTS challenge blog February 2021 Sketch

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart is getting excited as I prep this post's draft before I actually start making my design team inspiration card for this new monthly challenge at A Place To Start challenge blog! Chana has selected a sketch to follow. If a newcomer to sketch challenges, the sketch can be rotated or even adjusted to fit a different shaped card like square instead of the vertical layout shown below. Flowers don't have to be used on the edge of the circle. But ideally having 2 of something same size or larger or smaller. Some liberties for your layout can be taken but the essence of the sketch design needs to be reflected in your creation. APTS February 2021 challenge month starts Monday, 2/8/2021.

My design team inspiration card=

For my sketch interpretation, I thought it would be fun design wise to go with a curved edge to the horizontal pieces rather than with the ribbon tail v-cut. With the round buttons and curved upper heart lines I thought it would be terrific to curve those paper edges, too. And the other significant tweak I did was instead of having 2 flowers/objects near the focal shape, I moved one down to the lower right corner. I thought with the size of the buttons and my overall card plus the solid color cardstock, the ring of flowers button looked great in the corner. I also didn't want to cover up more of that wonderful striped patterned paper strip...don't know who produce that striped paper but the mix of tones is great!

design and vendor notes about this sketch card:

1. base of card is the neon green; top-folded; 4.25" wide x 5.5" long;

2. all other cardstocks and papers used were from my scraps basket (YEA!)

3. buttons and waxed cording in a coordinated set are from Webster Pages; these are the newest supply featured on this card and also the first time I've used out of the set that I got several months back

4. stamp is an old one in my collection for many years now; and my black ink pad is starting to fade out on me, so that will be 1 new supply I will allow myself to purchase...I've got so much accumulated in the past 3 years since our house fire. Luckily I did have craft products stored in the garage, so I didn't have to totally start completely brand new. But for making cards, primarily, a couple of times per week on average I'm not using up stickers and papers as much as I probably should be...and then it's so tempting to see new products and collections that everyone is using...sigh...

7 Nov 2018 masculine bday card for CCMWF and CKC and PI and LRW and PPCC

Georgia Boy meets Illinois girl in Texas many years ago...

and that's how the story started for my sister and her husband who is celebrating his birthday tomorrow and with a party on Saturday! So I've got to get this mailed a.s.a.p.!

Travel theme was a good prompt and thanks to Paper Issues having a travel/globe/As the World Turns challenge this was a convenient for me to do for my b-in-l.

You can find the prompt on both the blog site and the Facebook community. The link for the site can be found here for Paper Issues: https://paperissues.blogspot.com/2018/11/as-world-turns.html

Another challenge to link to is Little Red Wagon's new prompt that started today about sentiments. Imke wants everyone to have the card focus be on the message/text, so that's why I stamped and stenciled in the center of the banner section on my card front. The link for this site can be found here: https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/2018/11/challenge-471-just-sentiment.html

CKC blog has a delightful inspirational curated kit from Citrus Twist called Little Things for its November counterfeiting challenge. This card has darker tones of the blues and creams found in the kit and with the PI travel theme I'm thinking about having a broad travel theme for my copy cat kit that I'm still shopping through my stuff for. [think weather shapes like clouds, stars, and rainbows along with travel shapes like circles/spheres/globes, cameras, maps, trains, and more] I had set aside these papers last night but not necessarily for my b-in-l. But with PI's Nov 5 announced As The World Turns and the CCMWF sketch plus the LRW focus on sentiments, the puzzle/card pieces just seem to fall into place for a masculine birthday card. CKC has had several posts already this month, so I'll use the 2nd one for November titled "Just the Gist" for the link:
https://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/11/november-2018-just-gist-of-it.html

And the inside panel was kept simple using more of the globe patterned CS:

This sketch is from CCMWF (Christian Card-Makers~ Women's Fellowship) a secret group through Facebook. Instead of stars I used buttons. Banner placement went up to the top edge due to using a A2 size card; this also affected the gray portion seen in my card as a map/atlas print. Otherwise I'm pretty accurate to the sketch for my interpretation:

Easter theme bookmark #5 (final)

Alleluia

Some of the previous ones made mentioned in this series of postings that I forgot to scan are similar in formatting to this one. I love the bold colors of the glitter papers!

Alleluia--Rejoice--Jesus Saves!

Supplies list:
1. glitter and regular pattern papers= Colorbok
2. 2 colors of cardstock= personal stash
3. stickers, jewels, and button/pin are from various vendors
4. glue= Elmer's Craft Bond
5. pigment ink stamp pads (several colors)= Studio G

Easter theme bookmark #1

Jesus is the light of the world:

I've also made 4 others that I forgot to scan before I mailed that used other papers and were styled differently. "Rut-ro!" This Easter theme bookmark is for a guy, so I was wanting to keep all selections fairly clean and crisp. The lamb, cross, and tomb are reminders of Jesus' journey to be our Savior, the light of the world.

As personal bit, the past 2 evenings where we've been attending church since we've re-located, presented "The Living Lord's Supper". It was a powerful, dramatic telling not only of Jesus' last few earthly hours but also shared characteristcs and background on each disciple.

Jesus is the Light of the World
Supplies:
1. blue cardstock and stickers= personal stash
2. olive green cardstock and pattern papers= Colorbok
3. glue= Elmer's Craft Bond
4. printed ribbon= Studio G

new blog and challenge undertaking

Ribbon Carousel's latest challenge, RCC7, is to include music along with an item that comes from a spool (thread, twine, ribbon, etc).

For a teacher thank you card, I used the chorus portion of the hymn "Count Your Blessings" that I copied onto a light blue linen parchment paper. It's mounted onto light blue cardstock and then placed onto the background pattern paper (DCWV or Colorbok, not sure, since I deconstructed the paper pack).

I used blue satin ribbon in one corner and white string bow in opposite corner. There's also white thread tied on the button.

The layout design is simple and clean. On the inside there's another button with white thread.

Here's what the card looks like outside and inside:
