Loving this Nativity Christmas card non-DT project on 26 August 2025

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity!

why: This is a non-DT contribution. I wanted to participate in some Christmas challenges before August ends. CCAYR's required song prompt for "O Holy Night" led me to look through my Christmas supplies and I decided to repurpose a box card image altering it into an arch shape.

when: Tuesday night, August 26, 2025

what: Project #1 = Nativity Christmas

how-to & vendor notes
:

1. kraft paper for base = unmarked plastic sleeve packaging; don't remember where I got it...maybe an old Amazon order two years ago...???

2. white satin sheen specialty paper and the bronze/coppery threads specialty paper = part of a scrap pack = Crafter's Square

3. Nativity scene card front panel; did some measuring to trim sides and the bottom margin; around the top, the sentiment/song lyric was already in a semi-circle format so that's what led me to make it an arch-topped focal. = box card sold by Dollar General Stores

4. dark brown retractable marker pen = Zebra Clickart

5. little weathered triangle puffy accents, 'screws' and a little floral = all from a package of 'steam punk' kind of puffy stickers = Crafter's Square

where #1 will be linked:

1A. CCAYR; still open for August; theme of O Holy Night song; I've chosen a Nativity scene; Holy Night is about baby Jesus being born

The Nines Saturday Night series #1 on 19 April 2025

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!

why: This posting is starting a new series to honor the NINES! Since my mom passed last August 31st, I got thinking about Mother's Day coming up (USA) and want my 'nines' to all get happy mail from me around this special occasion. The 'nines' are my 2 maternal great aunts who are 96 and almost 94, my 3 maternal aunts ranging from 77-86 and 2 paternal aunts who are in their 80s. The other 2 are my dad's 2 surviving cousins who are in their 90s!!!

The 2 paternal cousins of my dad's have cards that have similar layouts and supplies and will be used for a blog commitment on May 2nd. The 3 maternal aunts and 2 maternal great aunts will have their cards shared next Saturday night.

THICC #131 DT inspiration for 10 January 2023

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This post's highlights my design team contribution for The Holly and The Ivy Christmas Challenges blog. THICC is how I shorten it has Anything Christmas Goes kind of themed challenges. The owner wanted to skip December 27 as a competition after the Dec. 13 (#130) ended so #131 is starting on Jan 10th.

I wanted to use the "All Is Calm, All Is Bright" lyric sentiment from the carol "Away In A Manger" and paired it with the panoramic Nativity manger scene 'tag' die-cut. Both are from Echo Park's Away In A Manger collection. More details after the card photo.

A donkey at the birth and the donkey returned for Jesus' final week card =

*the sentiment journal card was trimmed into an oval shape using decorative scissors and mounted onto kraft paper; the Nativity scene 'tag' die-cut = Echo Park's Away In A Manger collection

*the red and white patterned cardstock = Fancy Pants Designs Cozy Christmas paper pad

*green and white checked gingham paper = Hot Off The Press

*the donkey image wood shape = Bluebells and Buttercups collection from Craft Consortium

*dark red top folded 5" x 7" card base with envelope = The Paper Source's website

MTTC #496 DT notecard for Anything Related to Sheep theme

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This is going to be super short posting for me! --really! Too much going on this week.

My Time To Craft's new theme #496 is "Anything Related To Sheep". At the time, I was thinking winter sweaters, sheep and shepherds for Nativity Christmas cards but this can be so much more in a broader sense. Think of the nursery rhyme Mary Had A Little Lamb for a baby congratulations card or a 1st birthday card for a little girl. A birthday card for a cat lover that shows a ball of yarn. Or even a crocheting or knitting image. Barnyard scene with farm animals including a sheep or lamb. Etc. December 2-15, 2022.

I decided to do a religious thinking of you encouragement notecard=

I've had the Sunday School lamb stickers and the vellum "The Good Shepherd" for probably 10-20+ years!!! The animal print patterned paper, striped patterned paper and plaid cardstock scraps (Fancy Pants Designs) are newer. Also the blue-gray flat base notecard is newer stash item (Darice). The Stampin' Up "Thinking of You" is another old item.

Sympathy Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Lots of hearts on this sympathy card are physical reminders that the receiver is loved while they are mourning. The Scripture verse is found at Word Art Wednesday challenge blog and is a free digital to download. Yesterday I stencil-painted the 'scattered hearts' and had traced the heart shape onto the gray cardstock prior to brushing on the paint. Leftover paint on my foam brush was swirled around onto a scrap of the mid-gray cardstock. More design notes after the pics.

Sympathy card=

Design notes:

A. chromatic colored grid heart is a freebie image offered in the Heart's Quest Challenge Blog Fans Group in FB.

B. the purple acrylic painted stenciled heart was made with Simple Stories Scattered Hearts stencil

C. the white/diamond glitter heart's cardstock is from Pen + Gear

D. the white vinyl "WDS" is a dazzle from a mixed sentiment set from Paper Wishes website/store

E. the light gray and mid-gray cardstocks are from Pen + Gear

F. the dark purple cardstock is old stash from Colorbok

4 March 2022 MTTCC #29 with Angels Christmas Theme Card for DT

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I've got a small size Christmas card done 2 ways to showcase for this posting for March 4th MTTCC DT commitment. It's 4.25" wide and 5.5" high...that's it! And it's packed with angels--as the focal/sticker and in the main paper feature. Come join us at My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog and show us your Angel themed Christmas card creations!

There is a 3rd Angel card shown almost at the end of the posting and it is shown on MTTCC as another DT inspiration project. Make sure to use the link and visit MTTCC to see what the other DT crew members crafted for this theme challenge!

Angel with harp Christmas card (shown on MTTCC) and Angel with trumpet Christmas card=

and not shown on MTTCC=

Design notes:

1. Black cardstock bases made from 1 sheet folded in half and then divided for top fold/bottom open 4.25" wide and 5.5" high each (Pen + Gear)

2. Echo Park's Away in the Manger collection for the angel print cardstock (about 4" wide x 4.25" high) and the 2 angel 'elements' stickers

3. green cardstock sections are 4" wide and 1" deep (either Neenah or Pen + Gear)

4. bronze glitter and gold glitter foam stickers are from an ornament filler package (bought at Dollar Tree in December 2020)

5. green metallic foil 'dazzles' sentiments of 'Merry Christmas' (Paper Wishes website)

6. gold metallic gel highlighter 'pen/marker' (Creative Devotion; 1 color of a 3 color set) was used to contrast the angels in the cardstock paper versus the focal stickers; I knew with the very light sage green background and the ivory tones of the angels in both the cardstock and the stickers, that something was needed for contrast

7. black rollerball ink pen used to outline papers and angel stickers (for the angel stickers--this is another way to contrast from the angel print cardstock)

My Time To Craft Christmas style theme of Off The Page starts 13 August 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This is the 16th fortnight challenge for the sister blog MTTCC to its MTTC! My artsy-crafty heart can't believe how quickly 2021 seems to be progressing. This Christmas card challenge blog started in mid-January and we are ready for our 16th competition period!!! The new challenge theme is what I'm referring to as a style theme. Shell wants us to go "off the page" with how we style or format our Christmas cards.

I've interpreted that 2 ways with my red glitter panel by (1) using lots of foam adhesive squares to lift it off the page or base card and (2) shortened the length of the card just a bit in order for the panel to be off the side of the base. I'm very impressed with the results: style, color, mix of prints, and the wise men visit portrayal.

*My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog #16

*Starts 13 August 2021 for 13 days

*Christmas/winter cards must show some type of "off the page" aspect; besides my 2 methods there are different fold formats and easel cards that would work when a focal piece or sentiment piece is extended off to a side as well as interactive function accent pieces that have a spring or folded accordion step section to lift and dangle an accent piece from the card base

"Oh Come Let Us Adore Him" said the Wise Men Christmas card=

Blog and DT member badges for MTTCC=

Design and vendor notes:
a. Echo Park's Away in a Manger collection gets the credit for making this wonderful religious Christmas card come together: the script patterned CS is 1 side of the "Heavenly Hosts" item in the collection along with the wise men sticker and the OCLUAH sticker
b. The script patterned cardstock is printed in navy blue with white print. If you click on the above closeup scanned photo you should be able to see that I changed the little white dots to red ones and the stars went from white to silver metallic!!! Those are little details that make looking at the card in person very impressive regarding color repetition.
c. charcoal gray cardstock is from Astrobrights/Neenah
d. white with red diagonal striped paper was actually a sticker back application
e. almost navy blue with white dot cardstock has been in stash a long time and I forget who the vendor is
f. red glitter foam piece could have been sticker backed applied but I didn't peel that off since I used foam adhesive squares to lift the piece off the surface of the card
g. 3 clear/silvery looking crystal cut gems for accent...I absolutely LOVE this card!!! The mix of colors, prints, layers and then the coordinates from Echo Park just combined into an amazing Christmas card!!!

TN BUJO continues for 2019 Word of the Year and in my TN best friend

TN layout #3 and bonus layouts #4 and #5

My third layout for TN Time with Lisa and Lori will be for my Bullet Journal (BUJO) modified Travelers Notebook entry showcasing Titus 1: 2; ringed index notecard set

#1:
This 2-page spread qualifies for BOTH the prompt and the sketch part for the March 2019 challenges at TN Time with Lisa and Lori.  [left page= I turned sketch to its left and went more abstract on shapes with date for entry as subtitle and the Word of the Year--HOPE as title; right page= I switched the journaling/Bible verse due to tilting the sketch to the left.]

[2 uses of washi tape: left page= a sage green floral from MME that goes over where the 2 papers met; right page= a dark green dotted from MME that goes over where its 2 papers meet]

#2:
From March 2019 CKC blog kit that I made: the 2 washi tapes, the solid color papers, and the tonal green floral patterned paper

One of the posts issued from CKC blog to encourage kit makers to use their compiled stockpiles was this one=
Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog recent blue skies and butterflies challenge link:

#3:
and I will post a snapshot of the completed layouts to the Facebook closed group, Travelers Notebook Scrapbookers, that focuses not on the covers but the inside layout entries.

More pics of the Word of the Year entry of Titus 1:2

LAYOUT #4 is from my TN best friend documenter for March 2019 using TN Time with Lisa and Lori sketch and prompt challenges (L page tilts the pic and embellishments clustered under it and the space above it was used to display a mix of papers, stickers, washi tapes, and decorative tape. R page flip-flops the journaling section from left to right side.) CKC kit was everything except the friends chipboard stick-on and bright tropical flower stickers on each page.

The butterfly is a forgery I created for my March CKC kit which has color filled in (I used eye shadow makeup!)!!!!!

LAYOUT #5 for March 2019 is another BUJO/TN modified entry for Word of the Year featuring I Thessalonians 1:3 (for TN Time with Lisa and Lori= L page is a very loose interpretation because the floral patterned cardstock create chaos as I was trying to puzzle it out. Instead of starting over, I decided to almost fill the left border with butterflies and flowers along with a date sticker. R page has the journaling section/Bible verse like the sketch with a right side section shown by the roses washi tape that is over a music print decorative tape.)

CKC kit= all items except the foil butterfly stickers

These are part of a ringed notecard set, so they will not be seen side-by-side.
