My Time To Craft Christmas no 7 with Snow People theme Christmas cards

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart decided to add ragged edging to my papers and cardstocks for my creative flair on this Christmas card. At MTTCC challenge blog, Shell (owner) is asking that #7 challenge has a "snow people" theme. This Snowman and/or Snow lady challenge starts early on Friday, April 9, 2021

My "snow people" are glossy enamel kind of stick-ons that have been in my Christmas embellishments container for a couple of years I'm guessing. It has been way past time to use them. The snowflake patterned paper is computer paper stationery so it's been used on several Christmas cards in 2019 and 2020. The package started with 50 sheets and I've only consumed maybe 5...sigh...Another forgotten dusty supply was stencil sheet from a planner pack kit. Size-wise the snowflake, letters, and numbers worked well for a sentiment kind of accent on this Christmas card.

A Christmas Card of Snowy White on White

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is so happy to be able to create a card just because I want to paper-craft!!! I decided to check out some Christmas-focused challenge blogs and see what some of their current themes are. Hopefully I can mesh a few together!=

*sketch

*snow

*white on white; a neutral is allowed

other features will be slimline dimensions and some mixed media application of white paint pen, charcoal gray marker, and silver glitter paint pen along with embellishments of wood die-cut shapes, rick-rack, white foam snowflakes in 2 sizes, and clear iridescent gems

Snowy White on White Christmas card=

Didn't this turn out terrific?!?!!! The white cardstock base edges were inked in charcoal gray and so was the embossed oval. Dimensions are 3.75" deep and 9" wide. Merry Christmas was hand-written in pencil and then the white paint pen and the silver glitter paint pen were applied over the script. The wood die-cuts have charcoal gray marker with the silver glitter paint over it and then the white paint added to the cuffs and a few side partial spots as well as circles around the tiny dots on the mittens. Those tiny dots have a small tap of silver glitter.

Note: card has been placed on printer/scanner, so the depth of the wood die-cuts and the clear gems have caused the scanner light to create shadows through the middle parts of the card

The rick-rack reminds me of little hills and valleys made in the snow by wind and/or settling. It also gives the line delineation on the sketch instead of using another paper. The white embossed cardstock oval was part of a piece that I got in a box of odds and ends sent by a junk journal online acquaintance. Bless this gal's heart for clearing off her desk that day about 2 years ago and sending me all kinds of paper goodies!!!

July 2020 Week 3 Theme of Santa Challenge no 27 for 52 CCT

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart and soul have enjoyed a bit of cooler summer temps these past few days--low 80s! Before this blog is revealed we are suppose to be back into scorching temps and heat indexes!!! Ugh! So internally cool down by thinking about Christmas and specifically about Santa.

That's our theme for Challenge #27-20 at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge blog! I've made 2 cards yet only sharing 1 at 52 CCT. The 2nd card is made with several of the same supplies and a layout variation but it is a humorous version that I intend to give to my husband for Christmas--he's MY Santa! :)

Card #1: Hi! Santa

Card #2: I [heart/love] Santa

Supplies:
a. The tri-dotted patterned paper and the strip of black and white checked patterned paper = The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby
b. Red ribbon and white card bases (w/ matching envelopes) = Crafter's Choice
c. the rest of the embellishments, red ink pad, red glitter paint pen = in my stash for awhile
d. and if you haven't figured it out yet, the Santa image is an upcycled gift tag that is overlapped a bit on top of it's back piece that I reversed to use the dark pine green rather than the white...a set of 6 or 8 designs were what came in the tag packaging...I thought they had some good graphic designs. This one was perfect for our Santa theme!

May 2020 Week 2 Colors for the 18th Challenge Week at 52 CCT Blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My creative heart took a stumble this week trying to come up with a non-traditional colors Christmas card! Yikes! Should be pretty easy! But lots of the stuff I purchased to prep for this DT gig with 52 CCT this year are traditional reds and greens or wintery blues.

CARD #1:
This minty-teal green chrysanthemum cardstock from Webster Pages was my driving force for this card I'm getting ready to show. Mums are an autumn perennial where I live but with the orange, green, and yellow large gem dots to be like berries or ornaments along with the word "gather" I thought might make this a great transitional card to bridge Thanksgiving and Christmas. The gold glitter tape and little gold pine needle branch add a bit more Christmas glam.

The tied sections of chevron cardstock symbolize the 'gather'-ing we do during the holiday season--we come together!

#18-20 challenge for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown:
link= https://52cct.blogspot.com/2020/05/may-colour-challenge.html

and I used last week's sketch to influence this layout=

*punched holes on each side that looks like part of a belt and triple-tied cording instead of a buckle or connector piece
*sentiment word added plus a few embellishments like the glitter tape and gems complete the card

and

CARD #2:

This is my favorite trio of colors: pink, purple, and silver. I dug and dug and found old pink and purple foam snowflakes that were ordered in a bulk pack from Oriental Trading many years ago. Layout-wise I'm still using last week's sketch. It's turning out very versatile and gives a chance to use a bit of contrast in patterned papers that I like to do on my cards.

Celebrate a Snowy Christmas card:

The patterned papers on CARD #2 are also from The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby. The purple cardstock base cardstock is folded to dimensions of 5" x 7" and is made by Astrobrights/Neenah.  The silver dazzle sentiment "Celebrate" is from Paper Wishes.

April 2020 Week 4 or 16th Week of 52 CCT Blog featuring technique challenge

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This posting features my creative goal for the year to make a Christmas card every week. With the commitment to be on the design team for 52 CCT blog we are now on our 16th week of Christmas card-making!

Week 4 is typically either a technique or a specified stash item that needs to be included on your Christmas card. Our April 2020 host is Hali and she wants us to use a herringbone patterning of paper strips (or it could be washi tape or ribbon). I decided to do a personal challenge to format the pieces as a circular ornament.

Herringbone 25 Ornament card:

I should have taken time to do a photograph of this at an angle because as I'm typing this, the card is angled on top of my printer with the lights reflecting off the gold foil! Oh it so pretty! The gold glitter dots at each corner and the gold decorative tape and the red glitter foam bow are also sparkling!!!

Sometimes I just amaze myself with how wonderful a card turns out! :)

I'm not going to rush to make another though because measuring the strips and piecing all of the bits onto the plain cardstock took about 2 hours I think. But this was worth it when you get such a marvelous result!

March 2020 Week 3 or Eleventh of 52 CCT blog theme of Christmas Lights

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity! My love of bold colors and mixing patterns are part of the motivation behind my thought process as I sorted through my Christmas supplies to make this "Deck the Dog" card!!

Seriously, the theme is Christmas Lights for the 11th challenge in 2020 for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. The 3rd week of the month for rotation is either a theme or recipe depending on the design team member who is in charge of the month's selections. Goga has decided to go with a theme of Christmas Lights and I had a gift tag with the dog's head getting wrapped in strings of lights that I thought would work great as a focal piece=

b. the bright stripe patterned paper is from a set of 3 prints paper pad bought at Dollar Tree

February 2020 Week 4 Technique or Stash challenge using foil for 52 CCT blog

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity and this posting is about using the stash item of foil or products with foil/metallic foil for Christmas cards. 52 CCT is Christmas Card Throwdown and this is Week 8 of 52 for 2020 (or for starting the 4th week of February).

I decided for my design team inspiration card for 52 CCT blog that I would go old school using kitchen foil laid over a snowflake texture plate. Using a mechanical pencil's eraser I gently pressed over the texture plate to create an embossed/impressed image and then took permanent markers to highlight the impressed spots.

I've currently got this card resting on top of my printer and at an angle it looks great (as opposed to this flat scanner photo...sorry). It's not perfect due to several spots of the marker smearing before the ink dried. Yet the green tone of the snowman's scarf is a spot-on match to the cardstock background that is on a white flat card base and little details like that make my heart happy!
