Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! Doesn't summertime make you think of vegetable gardens? Well, it used to for me, especially growing up. My mom kept lots of summer days busy with canning and freezing. Sitting on the back porch steps snapping beans, husking corn, and popping pea pods were part of that. This July 1st at My Time To Craft challenge blog, we want you to create with the theme of vegetable(s). It can be a mix of them or you can focus on a specific type.
For my DT commitment, my mom, ever supportive, found this photo image of a crafter's counterfeit vegetables in an issue of Country Woman. She thought I should have the page to use! And I have! Whoever the artisan was, he/she took old spindles, painted them, and then add artificial greens for the tops. The creamy white ones could be horseradish. The orange are definitely the carrots. And the reddish-purple could be beets or turnips, maybe. I thought it was cleverly cute! I also like the white wicker basket that they are in.

For my 2nd project for my DT commitment, I used rub-on transfers for the vegetables/fungi (mushrooms, beets, and carrots) and the mason jar. Stampin' up for the old "HB" stamp; the Queen Anne's Lace and green with white marks cardstocks are both from the Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio that I'm trying to bash in 2022. Gray scrap and base black cardstocks are from stash. Black stamp pad ink was used on paper edges.

It was made in 2016 but I didn't buy it until late 2017 or early 2018. On January 23, 2022 I had 63 sheets remaining and only 3 scraps. I'm down to 36 sheets with lots of scraps in different sizes!!! There are at least 3 projects made that I can't show yet that are part of what consisted between 63 down to 36. Half of a year to go! and just under half of the original start count to finish!!!!

Wow! Thanks for that tidbit and for stopping by!
DeleteGreat cards Becca. I love that image of the carrots of the first one, it's super original. And those green papers on the second one create a wonderful contrast with the rest of elements of the card. Hugs, María.
ReplyDeleteThanks, dear! Glad you stopped by!
DeleteGreat cards! I love that you used a picture from a magazine for the first one...what a way to add some great visual interest in your card. Wonderfully done and way to think outside the box! Thanks for joining us at UYS and hope to see you again soon. Tammy DT Co-ordinator
