Once Upon A Time September 2022 childrens book Charlottes Web prompt

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! On August 1st, Once Upon A Time challenge blog debuted. For the 2nd challenge, blog owner Deanne has selected the children's classic Charlotte's Web for September's inspiration.

I've tried to recreate the book cover with some personalization and stash raid without having to download or purchase anything. This potentially might be used for classroom purposes. I've been at a variety of age levels and subjects during the past 35+ years including college adjunct to pre-service teachers and daycare providers.

Here's my DT commitment titled "Rebecca's Web" =

Some design notes and credits:
a. gray specialty cardstock base is about 6.5" x 5-5.5"
b. spider cardstock is on 1 side of a 12" square by
c. fence clipart image was a freebie downloaded and printed on white cardstock; a mix of markers and colored pencils were used on it; then fussy cut
d. animal tag was cut apart to separate the sentiment and just have the stacked animal portion behind the fence (Echo Park)
e. a black marker and black, brown, and reddish-mauve colored pencils were used for the female blank face stamp (Illustrated Faith)
f. a white thick stamp pad ink was smeared on the light green cardstock
g. a mechanical pencil was used to create some faux spidery web lines around the title to mimic the cover

Overall, if used for a classroom ELA activity to create a sequel to Charlotte's Web, I'm good to go. There are enough elements similar to Garth's cover art and for book content. :)

In case it has been awhile since you've seen the book cover art for Charlotte's Web, this is the photo provided by Deanne for OUAT=

  1. Love your take on the book cover, your wee girl's face is super cute - that is a book that my daughter loved, and I have given her daughter a copy of it to read, but at the moment technology seems to be winning out over old fashioned reading :(
