Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My creative spirit panicked with this theme! I didn't pick it. Someone else on the DT crew at MTTC did, so I've tried to do my best with it. And I have 2 different styles of dry embossing to show that also are for different occasions, birthday and Christmas.
My Time To Craft challenge blog's #476 competition has the theme to do/use technique of embossing. There is dry embossing done by textural pressure either with an embossing folder or old-fashioned textural rubbing. The other technique involves wet/heat applying powders to make sentiments shine and add a teeny bit of height. The competition will last about 13 days: Feb 25-March 10.
Card #1= Cute Mixed Media Feature Panel Birthday card=
A few design notes about Card #1:
1. light gray CS for base; purple CS for background with additional different sizes of scraps used for other panels (with the 2 pink and whites being from the Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio)
2. pink CS textured rubbed over a sheet of crystal heart-shaped gems using white, pink, blue, and purple colored pencils; bright deep pink glitter glue was applied in a random curved lines on top of the textural rubbings
3. sentiment stamp, black ink pad, stickers and acrylic disc are all from my stash
Card #2= Embossed Trees Christmas Greetings card=
full finished card #2=
A few design notes for Card #2:
1. upcycled commercial card sent by an organization desiring a donation that had embossed snow-covered trees; edges cut in irregular lines for interest and inked in metallic gold ink
2. textural specialty paper in light gray with French blue/periwinkle hues; received in a scraps/off-cuts bag
3. gray cardstock with an embossed vertical line was also from the same scraps/off-cuts bag; both were edged with metallic gold ink
4. black cardstock also used for off-setting/doubling the base; embellishments are from my stash

Great work using a theme you were not comfortable with Becca - a real challenge that you did well with!

Thanks, dear Maxine!
DeleteWow Becca you've made an excellent job. Both designs are completly different but in both the texture works perfectly well. Fantastic. Hugs, María.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Maria! The vibrant birthday card was mailed to a sister-in-law and I hope she liked it. The Christmas one will be stockpiled until November or early December. It's a very different focal feature but I wanted the top 'peaks' to follow the tops of the embossed trees.
DeleteNice project Becca. Thank you for entering the Anything Goes Challenge at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Suze!
