For the birds theme home decor art

My husband's birthday is about 3 weeks away and this home décor art was made with him in mind. Need to buy a frame before I present this to him. And he will be shocked that this is early! #406 Birds challenge for MTTC blog=

Some details on how this project was made:

a. the owl image is a coloring page "tattoo" from Bendon Publishing of Ashland, Ohio; "Adult Coloring--Tattoos--Relax and Rewind" with tear and share pages

b. I laid this image on my printer's scanner surface and then put kraft cardstock into the paper tray and copied the image onto the kraft CS.

c. Using colored pencils (some combo of hues were used to vary my choices) for the majority of color-fill on the owl. The beak had been colored yellow-orange with gold metallic pen over that to contrast with the feathery fluff on each side of his beak.

d. A few chipboard stickers were scattered for accenting and the "with love" stamped in the corner.

e. With the coloring page outlined, I decided to outline all the stickers and stamped sentiment.

f. Striped paper background is from The Paper Studio by Hobby Lobby

g. The stickers and striped patterned paper were put into my compiled kit for CKC blog's September 2019 challenge.

Still a bit over a week to participate and use up some of your stockpile. When I selected my papers and a few embellishments last weekend, my focus from the inspiration kit was for the color hues.

Be Mine with peonies DT inspiration for PPCC blog no 427

Pink peonies are a favorite childhood memory of mine! I've got one little tiny starter that I've nurtured last year which I need to check on. It should be sprouting. This darling image from Little Blue Button Stamps needed to have a pink version and my lovely photo print paper of pink peonies plus stickers led the direction for the card design:

Isn't this peony photo print paper from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) just beautiful!?!! I hated cutting it, but I've been involved in groups like Facebook's 100 Pattern Papers Challenge and Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog & community Facebook group to encourage me to use old products and stop holding onto all the pretties. Even those peony layered stickers I've had for probably 2+ years! It's time to use them. I haven't quite decided who will receive this...possibly my mom for Mother's Day or my sister Martha's birthday that's also coming up in May.

I just love the pink, gray, and black color palette for this card! The 3 diamond shaped designer patterned papers are from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) and the pink and gray print on the left is from an old stash, so I don't know who to credit for it. The pale pink, light gray, and black cardstocks are Colorbok.

Image of No. 1 Teacher is from All Dressed Up (info below). She's a moxie fab trendy gal! Colored pencils give the image a soft appearance to go with the delicate lines used by ADU.

About one-third of the way completed in creating this stunning female teacher appreciation card shown in the photo below! If you compare this below photo to up above, the marbled pink triangle wasn't used. I tried all kinds of arrangements and felt like I had to use only 1 small triangle with the 3 diamond shaped papers plus the focal image. Well the marbled pink triangle will show up on another card or tag soon I'm sure.

HIMCR 343 super scraps theme

Besides the image and wanting to create a card for my grieving aunt, my crafting motivation was sparked by this sketch layout suggestion:

I moved some of the parts around but I still think you can see some similarities. And this was a great sketch for a scraps challenge that we have each month at HIMCR. The pattern cardstock for the banner is from a leftover section of a 6"x6" that I started and used another portion for an anniversary card last month. Even the background barn wood designer paper is part of a sheet that I had already used a small amount from previously (The Paper Studio by Hobby Lobby). 

The dimensions were 5" deep and 8" wide. The inside panel was kept very simple with a stamping of hugs and kisses xoxo onto paper cut with the same stencil as papers on the front (Folk Art Decorative Icons stencil set from Plaid). The apple was colored with colored pencils. I put some white on the light highlight spot and used pink, red, and red-orange to get the realistic look on that brilliant image and the leaves likewise have 3 variation of green tones to give visual depth. Some of the papers were inked to help give that weathered distress look. For me it just looks like a display area from a rural farmer's market stand.
