Strawberry cupcake for birthday card DT project no 438 PPCC blog

The following paper scanned photos are partial sets/pads that I picked in mid-June to focus on to 'bash' from my stash. I added these papers into my 2019 pile for the 100 Pattern Paper Challenge group found on Facebook. And these same papers were for the June Paper Pad Madness at Bash Your Scrapbook Stash group also found on Facebook. 

I used a lighter tone pink marbled cardstock from this Colorbok partial pad for the card base 5" x 7" and a small section of the blue as a 2nd background for the cupcake image:

The mulberry patterned paper on the far right seen in the photo below was used for background of the cupcake image (small section):

From the 6" square partial pad I used 1 sheet of the overall cupcake patterned paper trimmed down to 4.75" wide x 6" long:

The pink marbleized half moon cardstock section (Colorbok) was leftover piece from month or two ago:

Navy blue ribbon was criss-crossed under the half circle sentiment message to add more blue tones to repeat from the blueberries. As were the little blue acrylic photo corner triangles and the blue heart sticker.

Most of the cardstocks and patterned papers had their edges inked. Black ink stamp pad and the sentiment and cake stamps are from Hampton Art. Watercolor markers were used to color the digital image provided by Little Blue Button Stamps for design team member usage for #438 at PPCC blog.

Didn't this card come together wonderfully!?!??!!! The range of blues and pinks with neutrals of black and white keep it fresh and festive.

More design team blog commitments will be coming in the next 2-6 days, otherwise I would like to get some scrapbooking completed but we shall see how the week unfolds. Today's a scorcher in the USA heartland! Stay cool!

Be Mine with peonies DT inspiration for PPCC blog no 427

Pink peonies are a favorite childhood memory of mine! I've got one little tiny starter that I've nurtured last year which I need to check on. It should be sprouting. This darling image from Little Blue Button Stamps needed to have a pink version and my lovely photo print paper of pink peonies plus stickers led the direction for the card design:

PPCC blog #427 starts 4/24/2019 with "anything goes" theme. Please remember that the title states paper-crafty, so the creations linked to Penny's can't be oil paintings or ceramics or knitting--just paper based projects.

Isn't this peony photo print paper from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) just beautiful!?!! I hated cutting it, but I've been involved in groups like Facebook's 100 Pattern Papers Challenge and Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog & community Facebook group to encourage me to use old products and stop holding onto all the pretties. Even those peony layered stickers I've had for probably 2+ years! It's time to use them. I haven't quite decided who will receive this...possibly my mom for Mother's Day or my sister Martha's birthday that's also coming up in May.

PPCCB 368 featuring Easter Crew image from Little Blue Button Stamps

Easter Crew

Do you like discovering the surprise hidden inside an Easter egg? That was part of several design thoughts that I pondered when I selected to use the Easter Crew image from LBBS for #368 challenge for PPCC blog.

Technically this card has several inside panels. When using the store-bought flower basket card, I opted to keep the back and hide the #368 challenge sponsor's image on the inside.

For the yellow cardstock base's inside panel, I have a Bible verse as the sentiment for an easy element:

John 14: 1-6 is my favorite passage and verse 6 alludes to eternal life offered by Jesus. 

The soft hues of yellow, lavender, pink and multiple greens were pulled from the flower basket card. And then used for selecting cording, cardstock, markers, and colored pencils.

The partial sketch is from Cardmaking and Papercrafts magazine's Christmas issue from 2 years ago on page 67.

I stretched the layout design to make a wide rectangle with the soft yellow cardstock base being a full sheet of 8" x 11" folded in half. I then divided the background areas seen in the sketch to be 3 separate pieces instead of an overlay strip/band over 1 paper. The narrow rectangle band behind the image I expanded to have a scalloped doily-like edge with the cording wrapped over it and tied in bow at same location as seen in the sketch.

I opted to move the sentiments to the insides because of spacing.

The base and background papers with cording actually look very nice before I added the flower basket card:

I decided to color the 3 egg "chicks" with mostly colored pencils and then have the Easter Egg in the bold marker colors as if they are having jealous or envious thoughts about the ribboned beauty! :)

Then to add to the hidden humor I decided to divide the Easter Crew like they were from a large Easter Egg that had been cracked open.
