Supply notes: sweater image and the sentiment image were a recycled postcard received as promotional mail for a cell phone company--YES--and the penguin was also upcycled from a gift tag purchased at a dollar discount store!!!! Black and white grid washi tape is from Pen + Gear bought at Wal-Mart. It was 1 of a 4 pack and has quickly become a favorite of mine! Red copy paper and black copy paper were scraps leftover from old projects. The base card cardstock color is called "Concrete" by Astrobrights/Neenah, Inc. And another bargain item is the bold graphic patterned paper which was a recent purchase from a 6" square paper pad bought at the same dollar discount store as the gift tag! It's all about the balance of mixing patterns and sizes.
Ex: tiny grid pattern on the washi tape vs. super large individual gem dots;
image with lots of different size objects vs. 1 medium sized penguin; and
multi-stripe patterned paper section vs. solid red, solid black, and solid concrete gray "borders"
1st official weekly DT project in 2020 for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge blog! |
Aren't the bold colors and patterns of this card very graphic and appealing??!!!?!!! LOVE how this turned out and it only took about 30-45 minutes to create from start to finish: measuring & trimming into 2 pieces the upcycled postcard, measuring the solid and striped papers, inking edges, etc.

Make sure to check back and see how my techniques, layout styles, colors, and embellishments change each time I craft.
