Challenge 157 for S4fC blog reveal 3 January 2020

I'm super excited to show my 1st project as a new design team member for Scrapping 4 fun Challenges blog!

New challenge reveal for S4fC blog is based on European time so for me living in central part of the United States, it will be about 8 pm on Thursday, January 2th.

Theme for #157 is Anything Goes and format can be layout, card, canvas, mixed media, etc. The sponsor for this fortnight length challenge is Oddball Art by Lizzy Love. I selected Sweet Whimsical Big Eye Girl Fiona to accent my traveler's notebook entry that is about my 'best friend forever', Susie and I getting together. We currently live about 3 hours apart.

The featured contact sheet photos of us are from 39+ years ago however! She bid on a big grocery bag filled with old yearbook photos and contact sheets that had a lot of different years but seemed to have quite a lot from the late 70s and gifted me with the whole thing in early June. The contact sheet 'cells' that I've cut out for this TN entry highlight the 2 of us at the Spring Awards assembly during our last couple of weeks in high school, sometime in May 1980. (YES!!!)

I've colored Fiona to resemble my best friend Susie with blondish brown hair and blue eyes.

What's even more special to me about this layout and 'gift' of old yearbook photos was that Susie and I were on this high school yearbook staff for 3 of our 4 years at Shiloh. We were both recruited by the sponsor to help keep things going after several gals who'd been on it were graduating. So there are several stories to tell. The Spring Awards included salutatorian ranking for Susie (#2 of 35 graduates) and the Robert Dagley Scholarship winner for me. In the bottom photo on the right side, the home economics teacher & Future Homemakers of America sponsor, Mrs. Patchett is recognizing me for the special state team for FHA that I was on for my last 2 years: IL State FHA Peer Education Team on Nutrition. I was 1 of 25 from across the state!

Don't you just love the pastel colors after seeing so much red and green from Christmas-time? The patterned papers are from a 6" square paper pad that I came across at a local dollar discount store! They reminded me of the floral patterns found in linens and shirts back in the 1970s so I had to use them even if they are just snippets of each design. The washi tapes are new! Pen + Gear from Wal-Mart! And a make-up sponge was used to dab on the different color inks from a kids type multi-color ink pad. The subtitle strip is a leftover scrap that I've held on to for at least 10 months. Creatively, this scrapbook variation was great to put together with something old, something new, something borrowed--well, gifted/turned over to, and something blue. Oh wait, those are for a different occasion! :)

*I moved the title up above the suggested section in order to have more space for the little 'cells' off the yearbook contact sheets. Paper/section proportions were changed a bit on the right side so that I could repeat some of the patterned papers used on the left and to also accommodate more of the photo 'cells'. The major elements are still there and I've made a good interpretation of the sketch.
