OUAT DT inspiration for March 2023 children's book Harold and the Purple Crayon

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! I'm so heart happy to share my interpretation for Harold and the Purple Crayon, a children's book that is March 2023 prompt theme at Once Upon A Time challenge blog! Craft artisan friend Deanne Saunders started this competition blog back in August 2022.

Instead of using a purple crayon, I went with purple ink to dab and smear around the edges of my focal panel of white cardstock and then used a red-purple glitter glue to adhere the circles of twine. The glue was applied about 3 times in order to cover most of the top edges and where the overlaps occur.

The book's pages are white with black text and feature the Harold character drawing with his purple crayon. So that's why I've used those colors and the partial stampings are my nod to the book's text print. And I've placed a girl's upper body stamp in the corner instead of having a little boy (Harold).

Purple, Black, and White Mixed Media card:

Recap: my design interpretation of the children's book is using purple ink smears and red-purple glitter glue instead of purple crayon drawings, using sentiment stamps instead of print text, a girl stamped figure instead of a little boy, and the using the book's main colors of purple, white, and black.

Vendors:

1. stamps = mix from Illustrated Faith (girl), Stampin' Up (HB and TOY), Hampton Arts (WYW)

2. remaining items = stash
