My Time To Craft Christmas 3rd theme Wreaths

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart was panicky this go-around because of some personal timing issues this week. Seems like my evening routines every night were off-schedule. Such was the case of minutes to an hour or so away from design team deadline! Whew! Squeaked this card in with about 15 minutes to spare! Yikes!

Thankfully, Wednesday night I had stash-searched my starting group of supplies of the car  and red checked papers along with the decorative rub-on transfer. Thursday night, deadline night, I quickly found the dark red pre-folded card base (with matching envelope), the green patterned cardstock which I used 2 times on the layout. The red gem dots and heart 'dot' were already out on the table.

Voila'!!

Tis the Season to be Jolly Christmas card for #3 MTTCC's Wreath(s) theme=

  Didn't this turn out great!

[1] closeup scan to show that I've composed a door look-alike with the slim rectangle olive green patterned cardstock surrounded by the red faceted plastic gems and the heart-shaped one for a doorknob

[2] the wreath and sentiment came positioned together like this; "T'was the Night Before Christmas" Echo Park decorative rub-on set

[3] the card with tree patterned paper and red checked gingham patterned paper are both from The Paper Studio, Hobby Lobby stores

[4] dark red pre-folded 5" x 7" card base with matching envelope were ordered a year ago from The Paper Source website

APTS challenge blog February 2021 Sketch

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart is getting excited as I prep this post's draft before I actually start making my design team inspiration card for this new monthly challenge at A Place To Start challenge blog! Chana has selected a sketch to follow. If a newcomer to sketch challenges, the sketch can be rotated or even adjusted to fit a different shaped card like square instead of the vertical layout shown below. Flowers don't have to be used on the edge of the circle. But ideally having 2 of something same size or larger or smaller. Some liberties for your layout can be taken but the essence of the sketch design needs to be reflected in your creation. APTS February 2021 challenge month starts Monday, 2/8/2021.

My design team inspiration card=

For my sketch interpretation, I thought it would be fun design wise to go with a curved edge to the horizontal pieces rather than with the ribbon tail v-cut. With the round buttons and curved upper heart lines I thought it would be terrific to curve those paper edges, too. And the other significant tweak I did was instead of having 2 flowers/objects near the focal shape, I moved one down to the lower right corner. I thought with the size of the buttons and my overall card plus the solid color cardstock, the ring of flowers button looked great in the corner. I also didn't want to cover up more of that wonderful striped patterned paper strip...don't know who produce that striped paper but the mix of tones is great!

design and vendor notes about this sketch card:

1. base of card is the neon green; top-folded; 4.25" wide x 5.5" long;

2. all other cardstocks and papers used were from my scraps basket (YEA!)

3. buttons and waxed cording in a coordinated set are from Webster Pages; these are the newest supply featured on this card and also the first time I've used out of the set that I got several months back

4. stamp is an old one in my collection for many years now; and my black ink pad is starting to fade out on me, so that will be 1 new supply I will allow myself to purchase...I've got so much accumulated in the past 3 years since our house fire. Luckily I did have craft products stored in the garage, so I didn't have to totally start completely brand new. But for making cards, primarily, a couple of times per week on average I'm not using up stickers and papers as much as I probably should be...and then it's so tempting to see new products and collections that everyone is using...sigh...

MTTC challenge blog 05 Feb 2021 theme of love

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart really wants to have the majority of my 2021 cards to contain heart(s) shapes and/or the word heart or love. One of my focus words for this year is renewal because after a year of restrictions during a pandemic, we all can use some renewal in thoughts, words, and deeds.

Today for the students who I'm their substitute teacher during their regular teacher's maternity leave, I surprised them with Burger King Croissant Breakfast Sandwiches. YES! Wallet-wise, I just needed a dozen. And what I didn't know at the time until I looked at the receipt later was that the manager only charged me for 8 of them!! Anyway, I shared a little love with food for these 5th graders! They later completed their 2nd day/2nd subject MAP Testing, so they got a little extra fuel in their tanks before being academically assessed in all things Reading related. And yes, 10-11 year olds can be very polite and appreciative. They were so stunned!!! :)

With Valentine's Day celebrated on the 14th, having a theme of love is timely appropriate.

My Time to Craft challenge blog's design team commitment is why I've created this card.

Participation time for this theme at MTTC will be 2/5/21 to 2/18/21. The next theme will begin on the 19th. So make sure where you are in the world that you check on the blog site to make sure there's time left to link up your project.
