CKC blog March 2019 copy cat kit divided into 6 small kits

It's mid-March 2019 and last night I finally took time to set aside my Feb kit for CKC blog. It's with some January leftovers and a few other older items that were part of my starter kit for 2019.

I decided to take a different color route for March. I received some paper tape sheets which inspired me to go towards darker blues, pale to mid-pinks and peach, and varied greens like mint, sage, and pine. Look at these mini kits with 4 having a mix of cardstock and patterned papers and 2 that are smaller needing either cardstock or additional papers depending on projects:

About 3-4 weeks ago I did an online purchase of My Mind's Eye Splendor kit from 2018. It is providing about half of what you will see in these photos. The kit came with 6 double-sided cardstocks and I've pulled 3 to use in March. The sage, yellow-green background floral is the pivotal piece for mini kit #1. Two pocket cards toward the top photo edge are carried over from last kit. 5 pocket cards and planner sticker sheet and one green based floral washi tape roll are more MME's Splendor. The paper tape sheets on the right, 3 decorative tapes, pale pink cardstock, and the soft pastel print paper are from my old inventory. I can't wait to use these!

Mini kit #2 was built on the bottom MME's Splendor ivory based large floral paper which can barely be seen. The washi tapes were seen in kit #1. 3 pocket cards are MME Splendor. The frame and 2 pocket/journal cards under it are American Crafts products from a mix of designers. Pale pink cardstock was included along with some pale blue and a scrap section of a dark teal blue. The pink zig-zag is from The Paper Studio and the mint green and white print is from Colorbok. Another lovely mix that I can't wait to use!

Mini kit #3 started with the small repeat patterned cardstock from MME Splendor. It looks great with the pink with white dot and blue with white dot papers from Colorbok. A sheet of pale blue cardstock to balance the darker tones. 2 pocket cards and 1 roll of roses washi tape from MME Splendor. The gold metallic grid accented doily is a leftover CKC forgery item made back in the autumn. The floral pop-up stickers were discovered at a dollar store. YES! Perfect for this month. A decorative tape from my old stash and 2 paper tape strips completed this pretty kit. So lovely! The paper tape strips are from Dear Lizzy, available from American Crafts.

Mini kit #4 does not have any of the Splendor kit except maybe using the roses washi tape. This smaller kit has a bold blue cardstock and some small scraps, mid-tone pink paper and scrap piece. The Simple Stories breast cancer sticker sheet is included here mostly for the bold pink lettering stickers. (Other leftover alphas will be added-in as needed.) The bright floral has a full sheet and a 2nd with just a small area used that is from The Paper Studio. There are 2 small sheets of patterned paper in the bold blues from Colorbok. The rose pocket card, 2 frames, and the other decorative tape roll are leftovers yet this is another pretty kit.

Mini kit #5 is really a starter kit or mini mini! It only consists of the cream cardstock, 2 1/2 small sheets of the bold blue print and a partial reverse print (Colorbok), 2 paper tape strips, and a blue tag sticker. The decorative tapes are shared with the last kit. There's a tonal sage green washi tape and a dark pine tape from MME Splendor and a bold blue and white patterned tape roll that is from my old inventory. I'd like to add at least an additional patterned paper from my old inventory to boost this tiny starter kit.

Mini kit #6 is the last kit and is another starter kit with so much potential. I need to add plain cardstock and maybe a stripe or small repeat floral patterned papers. The celery green paper and big patterned muted greens paper are from full scrapbook size sheets from old inventory. The navy blue dot paper is a partial sheet from The Paper Studio. 4 paper tape strips from Dear Lizzy, some celery green tab stickies, and 2 circle sticker dots are some embellishments to direct the color story for this small kit.

Now to show the CKC selected kit for March. It was picked by CKC's awesome leader Lisa. Presenting from SCT Spring 2018 Blue Skies and Butterflies--

I've gone a different color direction with the greens, no reds, and almost no yellows. I put in lots more blues. I still need to add-in more embellishments like alphas, stamps, gems, brads, and maybe ribbon or cording. With only half of the month remaining I think spending the time last night organizing these papers into color and pattern 'story' mini kits will help drive my upcoming projects. I've got some leftover scrapping projects from January to do as well as an anniversary card, 3 more March birthday cards, and some get wells. As a crafter who tends to have more inventory stockpiled than she can use, I would encourage you to investigate Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and its community group on Facebook. I've loved their creative resourcefulness approach to re-think and put 'fresh eyes' to all the old stuff.

for the full kit reveals/explanations and blog hop you will need to go back to March 1 and March 2

This March 2019 copy cat kit that I've collated is a mix of the very old stuff with some new to me stuff that I have only been gifted or purchased in the past month (like the MME Splendor and the Dear Lizzy paper tapes). I'm not taking time to think up a clever title for my 6 mini kits; it will just be my March 2019 kit. Come back to follow my creative journey for the rest of March using these small kits!

  1. Ah! Thanks Becca for your kind words! You are very sweet! I really like that you've gone down the mini page kit route. These all look good and your strategy and thought process for each of them seems perfect. I know that even though we're half way through the month, you are going to rock your March projects and if you still have some stuff left over, well you're just going to continue having fun into April!

  4. These are really pretty, Becca. And while the florals in Splendor are lovely, I was really drawn to the later kits with more blue. Enjoy creating with all of these!

    1. Thanks, Susanne! Yes, I agree with kits 4-6 the bolder blues with the bolder pinks or greens photographed really well. Kits 1-3 are so soft and pretty when they are laying right in front of me! I just want to hoard them and not use them! UGH! :)
