My MTTCC #113 DT project using Smooshing (Paint) Technique Theme on 23 May 2025

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!

why: Today's posting shares my #113 smooshing (with 4 acrylic paints) technique card DT commitment for MTTCC or My Time To Craft Christmas. We're close to ending a series requiring supply or technique and this installment requires the smooshing technique chosen by another DT member. You can use either ink or paint and there are different variations how those can be pushed/moved/squeezed/smooshed around.

when: #113 starts May 23, 2025 and ends in 13 days.

what: Happy Holidays non-traditional Christmas card

how-to notes: Smooshing technique with ink or paint can be achieved in different ways. I put on a bit too much paint so I ended up with 4!!!! panels! I picked 4 acrylic paints with 1 of them being a metallic type (gold) that I squirted out in different amounts and areas. Only the gray was a planned location to act as a base/ground layer possibly.

I put a solid color same size cardstock or paper facedown on top of the paint and then pressed around to smoosh and spread the paint then started in the bottom right corner to peel up the top panel. The peeling off of a top layer also pulls on the paint and added those vertical lines/ridges.

Then once that was set aside to dry, I repeated with 2 more. These 3 additional cards will be showing up in mid-May to mid-June posts. I let it air-dry for over 6 hours.

1. green crystal hearts = multi-pack = Crafter's Square

2. Metallic Gold and Green = acrylic paints by Crafter's Square

3. Neon Pink acrylic paint = Crafter's Closet

4. Pewter Gray acrylic paint = Apple Barrel

5. white cardstocks originally 6" squares; reduced slightly for both layers = Art Skills

6. banner, star, snowflake ephemera + holly & berries scrap paper = Bo Bunny

7. green embroidery floss = Coats

8. enamel dots = Freckled Fawn
