My Mondays Mixed Media Journal Page #5 on 20 July 2026

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity!, a personal crafting blog!

who: Hello! I'm Becca S, a 60+ year old artsy-craftsy blogger, who loves mish-meshing ages of products plus different companies' products! For me that's part of the creative fun...like solving a jigsaw puzzle!

where: This is a non-design team related project. When my blogging schedule allows, I enjoy doing something creative that I want to take some time to do.

when: Monday, July 20, 2026

why: About two months ago or so, I started 'My Mondays Mixed Media Journal' and this is #5 page.

what: MMMMJP #5 = weather theme journal page

how: mediums used are: colored pencil, colored ink pen, stamp pad ink, alcohol marker, washable marker, highlighter marker, soft waxy/paint, gold glitter finish acrylic paint & permanent marker.

processes include: cursive handwriting, stenciling/tracing, dotting, smearing, coloring...

1. 9 inch x 6 inch spiral bound sketchbook; 30 sheets of medium surface = Tree House Pad and Paper, Inc.

2. yellow (for large circle/sun) and blue (pool of water) Paint Sticks = sold in a 4-color set by Art Skills = in my stash box for over 2 years; and blue was softer, waxier than the yellow and went on thick so I used a tissue to help smear the blue to give the look of splashed out water...this also helped it to dry quicker

3. teal/aqua blue (for clouds with rain) highlighter marker = Bic; I've had these for 2-3 years

4. hot pink and red ink pens (+ navy blue for 1 set of waves) = Paper Mate

5. gray, black colored pencils (for the quarter moon) = Marvy Uchida; I've had these for 3-4+ years

6. Pea Green alcohol marker (borderline) = Arteza; I've had a few colors of Arteza alcohol markers given to me 3-4+ years ago

7. yellow washable marker (for 3 little suns that were stenciled & 1 stenciled star) = Jot

8. gold glitter finish acrylic paint (dots) = Folk Art/Plaid; I've had this small paint bottle for 2 years or more

9. Narwhal/gray mini stamp pad (dots/dabs) = Lawn Fawn

10. children's/folk/country song "You Are My Sunshine" = written by Paul Rice and then he sold the rights for $35 to Jimmie Davis who along with Charles Mitchell, played/sung/recorded the song. 1939-1940.

11. many suns stencil sheet = Simple Stories

12. large circles were created with a homemade stencil (punched hole in an index card)

13. star, irregular border line(s), cloud with rain lines, set of 2 wave lines = very old stencils and stencil ruler found at my mom's house in the past 2 years; I think these are about 40-50 years old!!!!

LINK-UPs:

1A. The Neglected Stuff; started July 5/still open; theme/usage = old or neglected items of 1 year or more; My journal page has stencil rulers that my mom kept for the past 40-50 years. Some stash supplies have been indicated above for either a 2-3 years range or 3-4+ years range.

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!

why: This posting is a showcase of three different thank you appreciation cards that I've made for my other planning committee members for our #45 high school class reunion!!! Crazy!! Sometimes it seems that long ago and then other days, it only feels like it's been half of that time. Now hair styles, eye glasses, clothing are all easy giveaways to the time period...1980!!!

when: in late May 2025 it was officially 45 years ago that we graduated from a small eastern IL school district! Our reunion weekend is July 18-19, 2025.
