My Mondays Mixed Media Journal Page #11 on 2 Nov 2026

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity!, a personal crafting blog!

who: Hello! I'm Becca S, a 60+ year old artsy-craftsy mish-mesh blogger!! My arts and crafts started early. Piano lessons started at age 6 until I was 16+!! Clarinet and later switching to bass clarinet began at age 10 in fifth grade beginner band! Learning to sew, cook and bake through 4-H club started at age 9. After several years of developing skills through three or four levels, I added flower arranging, nature crafts and an intro to interior decorating. My undergraduate degree middle-high school proficiency area was home economics. Now it is called Family & Consumer Sciences. I continued building my sewing skills, foods & nutrition and interior design. There were also courses in child/human development, family & marriage, money management and teaching home economics methods. I'm still continuing in all of these. :)

where: this is not related to any of my design team commitments

when: Monday, November 2, 2026; if the page dries quickly I'll try to get the page scanned and blogged before midnight!

My Mondays Mixed Media Journal Page #5 on 20 July 2026

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity!, a personal crafting blog!

who: Hello! I'm Becca S, a 60+ year old artsy-craftsy blogger, who loves mish-meshing ages of products plus different companies' products! For me that's part of the creative fun...like solving a jigsaw puzzle!

where: This is a non-design team related project. When my blogging schedule allows, I enjoy doing something creative that I want to take some time to do.

when: Monday, July 20, 2026

why: About two months ago or so, I started 'My Mondays Mixed Media Journal' and this is #5 page.

what: MMMMJP #5 = weather theme journal page

how: mediums used are: colored pencil, colored ink pen, stamp pad ink, alcohol marker, washable marker, highlighter marker, soft waxy/paint, gold glitter finish acrylic paint & permanent marker.

processes include: cursive handwriting, stenciling/tracing, dotting, smearing, coloring...

1. 9 inch x 6 inch spiral bound sketchbook; 30 sheets of medium surface = Tree House Pad and Paper, Inc.

2. yellow (for large circle/sun) and blue (pool of water) Paint Sticks = sold in a 4-color set by Art Skills = in my stash box for over 2 years; and blue was softer, waxier than the yellow and went on thick so I used a tissue to help smear the blue to give the look of splashed out water...this also helped it to dry quicker

3. teal/aqua blue (for clouds with rain) highlighter marker = Bic; I've had these for 2-3 years

4. hot pink and red ink pens (+ navy blue for 1 set of waves) = Paper Mate

5. gray, black colored pencils (for the quarter moon) = Marvy Uchida; I've had these for 3-4+ years

6. Pea Green alcohol marker (borderline) = Arteza; I've had a few colors of Arteza alcohol markers given to me 3-4+ years ago

7. yellow washable marker (for 3 little suns that were stenciled & 1 stenciled star) = Jot

8. gold glitter finish acrylic paint (dots) = Folk Art/Plaid; I've had this small paint bottle for 2 years or more

9. Narwhal/gray mini stamp pad (dots/dabs) = Lawn Fawn

10. children's/folk/country song "You Are My Sunshine" = written by Paul Rice and then he sold the rights for $35 to Jimmie Davis who along with Charles Mitchell, played/sung/recorded the song. 1939-1940.

11. many suns stencil sheet = Simple Stories

12. large circles were created with a homemade stencil (punched hole in an index card)

13. star, irregular border line(s), cloud with rain lines, set of 2 wave lines = very old stencils and stencil ruler found at my mom's house in the past 2 years; I think these are about 40-50 years old!!!!

LINK-UPs:

1A. The Neglected Stuff; started July 5/still open; theme/usage = old or neglected items of 1 year or more; My journal page has stencil rulers that my mom kept for the past 40-50 years. Some stash supplies have been indicated above for either a 2-3 years range or 3-4+ years range.

link = https://neglectedstuff.blogspot.com/2026/07/neglected-july-2026-challenge.html

My Mondrian Mondays Journal Page #36 on 20 April 2026

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity!, a personal crafting blog!

who: Hi, I'm Becca S. My crafting style tends to be a mish-mesh of old and newer products as well as a blend of artsy-craftsy style. I like to recycle packaging, business envelopes' security lining as patterned paper and save ribbons from gifts to reuse.

where: this is a non-design team related commitment; instead it is a personal creative series that I've been doing on Mondays for the past 13 months.

when: Monday April 20, 2026; blog writing and link-ups completed early on April 21st

why: I've been noticing that after the craziness and weariness of Christmas & New Year holidays with wacky north central Illinois weather, my mind and soul need a spring refresh earlier than the actual first day of spring. I wanted an alliteration with Mondays and thought I'd adopt my muse from famous artist Piet Mondrian. Most school kids grow up only thinking Mondrian did his grid primary color block paintings however he did do other palettes and compositions, even some landscapes. Last week, I shared a few cropped pics of his paintings from a website devoted to him. I also shared some of my favorites from my interpretations/twists.

what: Release the Arrows geometric design for MMMJP #36 (think of cell phone game apps such as moving buses or arrows)

how:

1. muse= Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian who lived from 1872-1944.

2. journaling notebook with elastic closure; 80 sheets of peach grid/graph lines = bought at Dollar General store; I've got enough sheets left for 2 more entries. I skip a page in between entries. I won't finish with 40 geometric designs but with 38.

3. mechanical pencil to do initial sketching; also ruler for perimeter = stash

4. colored pencils = Marvy Uchida (4 tones of green used 2 or 3 times each; 3 honey/caramel brown areas; 3 light gray areas; and the rest are varying layered tones to try to get coral/salmon/guava (for the Color Hues Challenge); on the opposite page, I did 13 different test samples sometimes with 2-4 tones: two peach/beige, orange, red-orange, rust orange, light pink and a medium pink

5. neutral toned non-smudge retractable markers (gray, brown, black) = Zebra Clickart

6. block shape inspiration= cell phone game apps like having to move buses towards an exit or arrows to the outer perimeter; I didn't want to use arrowheads/points so I used irregular/bent shapes or straight ones with blank space between each one

LINK-UPs:

1A. Color Hues Challenge; new on April ; required color duo of coral and green; neutrals allowed; My geometric design uses
