APTS challenge blog Make It Elegant theme for April 2021

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart was in bit of panic about what direction to go for making an elegant design team inspiration project. Who? What? etc. I missed on sending an anniversary card to my sister and brother-in-law last week so they will be the recipients of this sweet card in different shades of yellow, cream, pink, gold, and silver. 

A Place To Start challenge blog has a new monthly theme for April which is "make it elegant". Chana's indicating on the APTS blog that this doesn't have to be a card, so crafters show us elegant scrapbook layouts or journal layouts, tags, bookmarks, home decor, etc. The month-long challenge starts Monday April 5th in the early hours. Use the link below to check out the other DT members' creations and read the details for the blog and this challenge. 

My elegant touches are gold and silver edging and lettering, faceted gems and hearts, and the wonderful designer paper.

Design process and vendor notes:

1. plain cardstocks are from Pen + Gear and Astrobrights/Neenah

2. the designer patterned paper is unknown; given from a junk journal online crafting friend

3. the layered focal, faceted (light pink) gems and amber/gold hearts were bought at Dollar Tree

4. silver lettering also from Dollar Tree

5. gold glitter with small facets lettering = Crafter's Choice bought at Dollar General

6. yellow card base dimensions are 5" x 7"; pale yellow are 4.75" x 6.75"; and the pale blush pink are 4" x 6" (if I'm remembering correctly)

I've used lots of yellows and pinks, hearts (gems), and then I noticed lots of circle and rectangle shapes throughout the mood board that I've reflected in my card (rectangle cardstocks/papers and circle gems).

MTTC challenge blog Easter theme starts 2 April 2021

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! As a believer I rejoice in the hope of what 
'Good' Friday to Easter Resurrection Sunday signify. For MTTC's next fortnight theme of Easter, Shell (owner) is allowing a broad application so Easter can be religious, Easter bunny, chicks, lambs, egg hunts, etc. I decided to go with a Scripture verse sentiment focal. This design team project is for the #454 fortnightly challenge for MTTC!!!

Design notes and vendors:

a. the vinyl stickers (the Scripture verse, cross, and leafy branches) = Creative Devotions

b. washi tapes are from 2 different multi-packs bought at Dollar Tree; placed in an rainbow ombre type arrangement and then started repeating 2nd application for all but two of the hues

c. cardstock = Pen + Gear

d. fine tip black marker outlining added to give the sentiment/verse focal emphasis and to connect color-wise with the other stickers

e. card base is just a 1/8" shy of 4.5" wide and 6.5" high

MTTCC Create a winter wonderland scene Christmas card theme started 26 March 2021

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog!!! I know. I'm just about a week late posting a DT inspiration project for MTTCC--My Time to Craft Christmas. Last Friday morning the #6 challenge began. The theme is create a winter wonderland scene. 

I had lots of ideas but this evening (April 1) I decided I wanted to try something mixed media inspired. One of my crafting online friends from the other side of the globe showed a card with a background made with melted crayons. And then today I saw a FB posting of a kindergarten teacher showing his students doing a paint squeegee kind of technique as the first stage in a Easter eggs arts and crafts activity. So with these two recent visions, I decided to use some 'paint sticks' that are soft crayon wax. They apply rather thickly like lipstick. 

Many months ago after I purchased the 4 color set of paint sticks I tried some different techniques on 3 different colors of cardstock. But I didn't like the results very much. I decided to take the plunge a few hours ago to try again. 

I applied some yellow starbursts and green pine tree, bush, and a hilly slope first to the mid-tone blue cardstock. Then I applied some vivid grape Kool-Aid kind of purple. Last came a thick almost the whole surface of blue. Using the side of a scissor blade, I scraped off most of the blue and purple over the tree and bush. That got transferred in a short swiping strokes along the bottom of the scene. It's almost hard to tell with the scanner, but there is some silver glitter paint pen applied on the tree, bush, and then several horizontal bumpy lines across the bottom 1-1.5". Different snowflakes and the sentiment 'dazzles' were added to complete the top panel. 

Dark blue glitter decorative tape was used as a border on the base since the card base blue is very close to the crayon blue and background cardstock blue.
